I totally get you on the reason to dislike Bones supernatural stuff, I always saw the inclution of the supernatural as a way for discussion to happen instead of an endorsement of it. I saw the show's basis being the 'meet in the middle, agree to disagree, we can find meaning in different things and still get along' kinda topics. One of my favorite things about this episode is Bones never believes in the afterlife after this experience, she imminently has a rational explanation but it wouldn't be Bones if they didn't bring up the opposing view too and open the way for the discussion. But honestly my first watch through these episodes left me with a bad taste in my mouth too, it just felt a little cheap.

I love this episode a lot actually, to me it's a turning point for bones's character... in the beginning of the show she was very closed off and exact only letting a few close people in to see her true personality (angela) and throughout the show we've seen her open up more to the people around her and be closed off again because of events that have occured but what I love about this show is that it's not afraid to go back and forth between both with the characters of this show...
