Chapter 9: [Final Adjustments] Let's Gather to Finalize the Collaboration Details [Kuroneko San / Arutema]

"Kurone-san, would you like to hang out with us after this?"

It was Friday, just two days before the offline collaboration on Sunday.

I had planned to go home early today to prepare for the stream meant to finalize the details, but the popular boy in class, Haruto Kobayashi, had called out to me.

"Huh, hang out...?"

"Yeah. We’re planning a sort of late welcome party. You know, since our school doesn’t have class changes."

A welcome party?

The group waiting in the hallway consisted of the usual bunch of extroverts that always surrounded Kobayashi-kun.

I doubt they really need to deepen their bonds at this point, but perhaps extroverts enjoy finding meaning in such seemingly pointless activities.

And they like to use fancy words to feel a bit more grown-up.

A welcome party.

An exchange meeting.

A year-end party.

They go by various names, but basically, they just want to hang out!

I wanted to say it. I wanted to tell them that I want to. But I couldn't.

"Um, s-sorry. I, uh, I’m busy today..."

As usual, my mouth didn’t move the way I wanted it to.

I thought the daily training with Natsunami Yui-san had improved my speaking skills, but it’s different when I have to talk face-to-face in real life.

Can I really get through the offline collaboration on Sunday like this...?

[Final Adjustments] Let's Gather to Finalize the Collaboration Details [Kuroneko San / Arutema]

18,198 viewers — Kuroneko San — Channel subscribers: 22,434

"Good evening-nyan."

Comments:

Akailukman: Good evening-nyan.

Veex: The thumbnail looks great!

Khorne: Are you planning to have a special stream today?

"The thumbnail was made by a viewer, nyan."

Comments:

H30 Delirious: Don’t add "nyan."

Khorne: Add more "nyan."

"Actually, I haven’t been paying attention to my subscriber count because I’ve been so focused on the offline collaboration! So, this is a thank-you stream to get mentally prepared before the big event."

Comments:

Mahmad: What are the details of the collaboration?

Ms.Beast: It’s a clickbait title.

KuronekoSanFan: Don’t run away from the collab.

Shut up~~~ I don't care~~~~!!!

I've been doing chat streams every day, and I’m tired! Plus, I have to deal with the extroverts at school!

Can’t I just have one day where I bask in a little attention!?

"So, we’ve reached 20,000 subscribers. Has it been a week? Two weeks? Three weeks since I debuted? I don’t know, but I think it’s pretty amazing."

Comments:

Akailukman: Amazing, she’s like a kindergarten kid.

Zzundee: Vocabulary is dead.

Janet: Even elementary school kids are smarter than her.

Khorne: Having too many chat streams has reduced your talking skills...

"Who are you calling a kindergarten kid!? I’m a second-year high school student, a blooming JK, the popular girl in class!"

Lately, I feel like my viewers have been underestimating me.

In the beginning, they were more reserved, but now they tease me full force every day.

Wait, were they ever reserved...?

Anyway!

Even though these viewers tease me a lot, I’m really grateful to them.

Even when I slip up and say something wrong, instead of mocking me, they laugh and turn it into a joke instead. I don’t think my streams are particularly entertaining, but they stick with me every day.

They’re a bunch of weirdos, but they’re good viewers.

Well, I won't say it out loud because they’ll get too cocky!!!

"Alright, let’s dive into the usual Q&A!"

Marshmallow:

Good evening-nyan.

Kuroneko-san, you’re close with Yui-mama, but do you talk to other streamers?

"Talk...?"

Comments:

Akailukman: Ah.

Khaffar111: Why did you pick that one?

It's sad that while others are gradually increasing their collaborations, you're still stuck.

"Well, anyway—Speaking of which, today at school, a classmate invited me to hang out. Here's a long-standing question: how do you invite someone to do something?"

Comments:

Aha: ?

Nanook: ??

Mahmad: ???

Collaborations don't happen unless you invite someone or get invited. All my past collaborations were arranged by Natsunami Yui-san, and I’ve never managed to reach out to anyone other than her. The closest I've come is sending introductory messages to seniors and peers when I debuted. So, I don’t know how to invite people, and I don’t even know what to say in the first message.

"Why do extroverts invite others so casually? Even if they aren't close, they can just say, 'Let's go to karaoke.' Their communication skills are off the charts..."

Comments:

Kharf: You are overthinking it.

Schooooppppppppp: Honestly, I get it.

BigDickEnergy: Poor Kuroneko-san...

First of all, karaoke itself is a high hurdle. Some might think it's a relief for introverts because you don't have to talk while singing, but that's not the case at all.

Introverts can't sing in front of others in the first place.

Regardless of whether you're close to the other person, singing in front of people is an incredibly difficult task for introverts. It's embarrassing!

While singing, they stare at you and listen to you, and they might be thinking about how off-key you are. It's a mortifying experience.

I want to loudly declare that speaking isn't the only weak point of introverts!

Wait, I was talking about how to invite people, but now I'm ranting about karaoke?

"Now that we've deepened our understanding of the mysteries of extroverts, let's move on."

Comments:

Akailukman: The collaboration topic is still unresolved, lol.

Vina: Someone, please invite her.

Marshmallow:

Nyassu!

Talk about your kinks!

"You guys, seriously, you send way too many of these kinds of Marshmallows. I don’t mind, but when you send stuff like this to other streamers, make sure they’ll take it as a joke, okay? Especially don’t send it to Yui-mama just because she looks a bit... you know, provocative. I won’t forgive you!"

Comments:

Akailukman: You’re the one being inappropriate!

Aha: The biggest victim here is Yui-san.

Natsunami Yui: Kuroneko San?

"Eeek—"

Why does Natsunami Yui always know what’s happening in my streams? Well, it’s a simple answer—she’s always watching.

I say "apparently" because I haven’t heard it directly from her, but it’s pretty obvious.

"Uh, um! Kinks, right? Kinks... let’s see... time stop, hypnosis, brainwashing, mindbroken, and then—"

Comments:

Akailukman: All of those are way too much!

GEOM: Stop! Calm down for a moment!

Slaanesh: Huh, Kuroneko San is an M I see.

AhmadDali: Perhaps this Vtuber thing she has going on is to search for her dom?

Khorne: Say, rather than a girl, Kuroneko San is more like a perverted fat old man.

"Who's an old man!? I'm a real high school girl!"

Comments:

It’s because you are a high school girl that it’s such a big problem….

I see!

I only answered because I got so many Marshmallows asking about it, but the response is brutal.

"Okay, let's move on."

◎ ◎ ◎ ◎ ◎ ◎

Marshmallow:

Why don't you just retire?

◎ ◎ ◎ ◎ ◎ ◎

Marshmallow:

Do you have so much free time to read these Marshmallows? How about retiring?

◎ ◎ ◎ ◎ ◎ ◎

Marshmallow:

Your constant talk about being a shut-in is annoying. Just retire.

"Yeah, I get a lot of these. A lot."

Comments:

Akailukman: You don't have to pick those on a celebratory stream.

Aha: Debut every second!

"When I read them, honestly, some make me feel like crying. But when I'm feeling anxious, reading these Marshmallows helps me calm down."

I always say I want to be pampered, but if I keep reading only positive comments and see things going well with everyone's help, sometimes an indescribable anxiety takes over. It's probably the pressure, like the fear of suddenly falling and crashing one day.

But during those times, reading harsh comments balances out the positive ones and stabilizes my mind. Maybe introverts find dark things more soothing than bright ones...

"So, thank you. I'd prefer less extreme content, but a bit of harsh criticism feels like a splash of cold water, keeping me grounded."

Comments:

Akailukman: Is this the same streamer who was just talking about her kinks?

Burgesh69: I'll be harsher, then...

"If all the feedback becomes harsh, I'll just get depressed, so don't do that! Next!"

Marshmallow:

My encounter with Kuroneko San—

One day, I found a kitten. A sleek black cat. Seeing the kitten in a cardboard box, Nyaing faintly, made me feel I had to protect it, despite living in a no-pets apartment.

I approached quietly and picked it up.

It must have been a pet, abandoned in the box. It wasn’t very friendly, struggling in my arms. Claws and teeth scratched my skin through my shirt, but I didn’t hold it tighter.

"It's okay..."

I spoke softly.

Eventually, the kitten calmed down, perhaps from exhaustion or understanding my intention. Its face seemed to show a mix of resignation and relief. I spontaneously named the kitten.

"From today, you're Kuroneko San."

The black fur shining in the sunlight suited the name perfectly.

San responded with a short "Nya" and began to sleep peacefully in my arms, looking satisfied, I thought.

"That’s long!!! Don’t send SS in a Marshmallow!!!"

Comments:

Akailukman: LOL

Venussgaming: LOL

Aha: Give us more!

I thought it was a long-winded fan praise, but it’s just an SS!

Sure, they’re a passionate fan, but this is not what I was looking for—!

"Let's make the next one the last. I’ll pick the top new one."

Marshmallow:

Have you finalized the collaboration details?

"No, I haven’t!!!!!!!"
