Chapter 99: The Embarrassing Past of Li Wuchang!

Amidst the rising steam above the hot spring pool, Li Ran and Leng Wuyan sat silently like two awkward ducks, not daring to move an inch.

The relationship between them was both that of a couple and a master-disciple, a bond already carrying a hint of taboo.

Now, soaking together in the pool, the ambiance of flirtation and tension was amplified.

The water felt so warm, perhaps carrying a trace of the other’s body heat?

Leng Wuyan's thoughts wandered as her heart raced uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, Li Ran had no idea where to place his gaze.

The pool was filled with the clear, drinkable spring water, crystal clear to the point where, despite the spiritual flowers floating on the surface, he could still catch glimpses of her pale, white skin.

"This is too much..."

The rippling water obscured the beautiful sight, but the more obscured it became, the more he wanted to see.

Suddenly, a bold idea crept into his mind.

Li Ran swallowed nervously, and his normally dark eyes gleamed with a golden ring as he secretly activated his Miragefree Sight.

Whoosh!

Immediately, his face turned bright red as a nosebleed began to trickle down.

It was far too stimulating...

Leng Wuyan looked at him in concern. "Are you okay? Is the water too hot?"

Li Ran quickly stopped the bleeding using spiritual energy and shook his head. "No, my blood pressure is just too high."

"Hmm?"

Leng Wuyan didn't quite understand what "blood pressure" meant, but the awkwardness was enough to lighten the mood.

"It's just a bath, nothing to get worked up about," she told herself, trying to calm down.

Feeling a bit more at ease, Leng Wuyan started the conversation. "Since your return, we haven’t really had a proper chat. I heard you entered Emperor Fen Tian's secret realm?"

"Yes."

Li Ran raised his right hand, revealing a golden flame flickering in his palm. "I also obtained a Heavenly Flame."

"The Blazing Sky Flame!"

Leng Wuyan's eyes lit up with excitement. "This is a high-level Heavenly Flame, one of the greatest treasures of the Emperor Fen Tian. You truly are blessed with great fortune!"

Li Ran nodded. If even his master considered it a treasure, then it had to be something extraordinary.

Her curiosity piqued, Leng Wuyan asked eagerly, "Tell me, what happened in the secret realm?"

Li Ran proceeded to recount the events in the secret realm, though he downplayed the involvement of Xiao Qingge.

It wasn’t that he wanted to hide anything; he just thought it unwise to discuss one woman in front of another.

When he mentioned killing Song Qingsong, Leng Wuyan snorted, "Hao Yue tried to cause you trouble, but I’ve already sent a warning to the Divine Dao Sect. He’s forbidden from setting foot in the martial lands for the next century!"

This was typical of her—dominant, forceful, and unwilling to explain herself.

You either accepted her terms, or you suffered the consequences.

"Oh, by the way," she added, as if recalling something, "I heard that a female disciple from Ten Thousand Swords Pavilion argued fiercely on your behalf, even drawing her sword against Chen Yundao. You two don’t have some unspeakable relationship, do you?"

Otherwise, why would a disciple from the righteous path defend a demonic cultivator in front of an Emperor-level figure?

Li Ran awkwardly chuckled. "Perhaps it was because I saved her life?"

"And why did you save her?" Leng Wuyan asked with a smile, half teasing.

"Uh…"

Watching him struggle for an answer, she laughed and shook her head. "Just make sure you don't go around picking flowers and stirring up trouble. I still haven’t even dealt with the matter of your engagement!"

Li Ran awkwardly explained, "That engagement was arranged by the ancestors of my family, and I didn’t even know about it before…"

"All right, all right," Leng Wuyan said, rolling her eyes. "I don’t want to hear about that right now. When I’m ready to discuss it, you can explain."

She didn’t want to spoil the mood while they were soaking in the hot spring.

The pool was built from large blocks of spiritual jade, and the water inside never cooled. Steam continued to rise as a stray strand of hair fell against Leng Wuyan’s ear. She reached up to brush it away, creating gentle ripples in the water.

Li Ran's blood pressure soared once again.

Desperate for a distraction, he noticed the stone carving in her hand and asked, "Master, isn’t that the stone carving I gave you? You couldn’t bear to put it down, even while bathing?"

Leng Wuyan blushed and huffed, "I just thought it looked a bit dirty, so I brought it in to wash."

"I see."

Li Ran smiled, choosing not to expose her lie.

Leng Wuyan then asked, "This stone carving is made of Demon Suppression Stone, which is extremely rare. Did you find it in the secret realm?"

Li Ran shook his head. "No, I pried it off a door."

"A door?"

Leng Wuyan was confused, so Li Ran explained a bit about his family's ancestor, Li Wuchang.

Upon hearing the name, she was stunned. "Are you saying Li Wuchang is your ancestor?"

Li Ran was taken aback. "Master, you know old Li?"

Leng Wuyan nodded. "There are only so many Emperor-level figures in the world. Of course I know him."

"Li Wuchang… He used to be quite powerful, but he was injured in a fight with Yi Qinglan over a certain treasure and his foundation was damaged. Since then, he’s rarely shown his face."

Li Ran suddenly understood.

No wonder Li Wuchang harbored such resentment toward the Central Heaven Sect and constantly urged him to attack its disciples. It was all because of that fight.

Leng Wuyan added, "He was infamous for his perverted antics. He used to carry a tattered red rope and tie up female cultivators, calling himself a 'bondage artist.'"

Li Ran: "..."

"Once, he tied up a disciple from the Hidden Gauze Sect. I couldn’t stand it, so I chased him from the Northern Regions all the way to the Southern Borders, destroying no less than ten of his immortal treasures along the way."

"…"

The mystery was solved.

No wonder Li Wuchang had trembled in fear at the mention of Leng Wuyan, calling her a violent maniac.

It all made sense now!

Emperor-level pervert?

Bondage artist?

Li Ran covered his face. "How embarrassing…"

It turned out his ancestor wasn’t stingy with his treasures—he’d simply lost them all to his master!

All this time, Li Ran had respected him for sticking to the family's traditions and not leaving the ancestral lands. Now, it seemed he just didn’t dare to show his face...

Thinking of the "Immortal Binding Rope" sitting in his storage ring, Li Ran was certain—it was definitely the tool of his ancestor's dirty deeds!

"I should never use that thing," he silently resolved.

Leng Wuyan laughed as she watched him sulk.

When she had taken Li Ran as her disciple, it was solely because of his extraordinary talent. She hadn’t given much thought to his family background, and with Li Wuchang having stayed hidden for so long, she never expected this connection.

Teasingly, Leng Wuyan coldly said, "So, it turns out you’re a descendant of my old enemy. How do you plan to make it up to me?"

Li Ran thought for a moment and cautiously suggested, "How about… one bang to settle all our grudges?"

Leng Wuyan: "Hmm???"
