Volume 3 Chapter 63 / Chapter 230: The Protagonist, Having a Secret

At the same time, on the other side of things.

Amidst the snow-covered pine forest, dust billowed, choking the air.

The raging wildfire continued to spread outward, disturbing the hibernating beasts and animals, sending them fleeing in all directions.

By a frozen stream, a tattered Feng Yudie supported Ye Anping to a nearby pine tree, helping him sit down.

During the explosion of the alchemy furnace, although both of them had mentally prepared in advance and released spiritual energy to protect their bodies, they were so close to the furnace that it was almost like directly enduring a fire spell from a late-stage Core Formation cultivator.

At that moment, Ye Anping had grabbed Feng Yudie and shielded her with his body, taking the brunt of the impact.

As a result, Feng Yudie wasn’t badly hurt; her silver hair was slightly singed by the spiritual fire, her face was smudged with black soot, and she had a few minor scrapes.

However, Ye Anping was in much worse shape.

The back of his clothes was scorched with several large holes from the spiritual fire, his back was severely burned, and both his arms and legs had been cut by flying debris.

His hair was disheveled, and he looked utterly ragged.

Ye Anping furrowed his brows, took a deep breath, brushed the hair away from his eyes, and then sat down, crossing his legs to focus on channeling his spiritual energy.

As he calmed himself, he began reflecting on the situation.

He had considered many possibilities for the entire incident and had prepared various contingency plans, but there was one thing he hadn’t accounted for—Yun Jiujiu’s behavior.

In the game, this explosive alchemy scene didn’t exist.

The players would never experience it.

They would only discover the gravely injured Yun Jiujiu and Yun Yiyi in the Snow Dragon Cave the next day and rescue them, so this part of the plot had to be deduced entirely in his head.

But he hadn't expected Yun Jiujiu to act so recklessly.

Whether it was shattering her own meridians, spitting at Zhuang Yan, or starting a fight without hesitation, Ye Anping had considered all these possibilities.

What he hadn’t expected was that Yun Jiujiu would kick and collapse the massive obsidian platform.

According to his original plan, during the explosion, he and Feng Yudie should have been at least ten zhang (about 30 meters) away from the furnace. But because of Yun Jiujiu's kick, he had to change his plan and detonate the furnace earlier than intended.

If it weren’t for that, with Zhuang Yan guarding the furnace, Feng Yudie wouldn’t have had a chance to get close enough to break it open.

As the saying goes, predicting the actions of a fool or a wise person is easy, but predicting the actions of a madman is impossible.

Fortunately, he had left enough leeway in his plan. He had calculated that even if he and Feng Yudie were right next to the furnace when it exploded, they wouldn’t be seriously injured. Otherwise, they’d be done for.

Ye Anping decided that in the future, whenever he encountered someone like Yun Jiujiu, he'd better keep several backup plans in mind.

“Huu—”

Seeing Ye Anping’s breathing return to normal, Feng Yudie finally dared to ask:

“How is it going, Young Master Ye?”

“Hmm… slightly worse than I initially expected.”

Hearing this, Feng Yudie frowned and interrupted him:

“I’m asking about your body, not the situation.”

“I’m fine.”

“As long as you're okay.” Feng Yudie breathed a sigh of relief.

Recalling how Ye Anping had shielded her, she scolded him, “Why does it seem like you don’t care about your own body? Even in this state, you’re still thinking about the situation. Can’t you worry about yourself a bit?”

“It’s just a minor injury, nothing worth mentioning.”

“A minor injury?” Feng Yudie gave him a sidelong glance, then suddenly smiled and said, “Remember this: ten thousand spirit stones!”

Huh?

“What ten thousand spirit stones?”

"You just hugged me, didn't you? We agreed, a hug is worth ten thousand spirit stones."

Ye Anping was speechless, his eye twitching.

He had shielded her from the explosion out of kindness, and now she had the nerve to charge him for it?

"You seriously want to charge me spirit stones?"

"Why not? Business is business." Feng Yudie stood up, hands on her hips and chest puffed out. "You hugged me, so you owe me ten thousand spirit stones. You took the hit for me, so I owe you ten thousand. Two separate matters, hmph~"

"..."

Ye Anping squinted his eyes.

So, this girl was treating him like a walking bank, huh?

Did she expect him to hug her a few times a day and just rack up tens of thousands of spirit stones for free?

"Heh..."

"Yup, a hug is worth ten thousand spirit stones." Feng Yudie blinked mischievously and raised a finger. "As long as you pay up, feel free to come find me anytime."

Ye Anping pinched the bridge of his nose, losing the energy to argue with her.

The more pressing issue now was to find Yun Yiyi and the others.

Yun Jiujiu had forcibly broken through her cultivation earlier, and if left unattended, she would almost certainly die.

In the game, if you followed Yun Yiyi's storyline, Yun Jiujiu would do something like this, and though she would make it back to Jiuquan Peak alive, she would never get out of bed again.

She’d barely cling to life for about ten days with the help of rare elixirs, but in the end, she’d still pass away.

This fate was unavoidable.

On the other hand, if you followed Yun Xi's storyline, Yun Jiujiu wouldn't get captured, but Yun Yiyi would die on the snowy Qiong Peak.

Feng Yudie glanced around, noticing that the wildfire was quickly approaching. She hurried to help Ye Anping up to move further away.

But Ye Anping raised his hand, leaning against a tree to stand up on his own. "Let's go. We need to find Yun Jiujiu and the others."

Feng Yudie quickly stepped forward, putting his arm over her shoulder to support him. "Okay, where are they?"

"..."

Ye Anping fell silent for a moment, glancing sideways at her.

He thought about calling out Xiaotian but hesitated, then cryptically said, "Figure it out."

"Huh?"

"What 'huh'? It's just finding two people."

"Oh..." Feng Yudie pondered for a while.

Naturally, the first thing that came to mind was calling out Xiaotian.

The spiritual energy in the area was too chaotic to extend their senses, so only Xiaotian could quickly search the surroundings. However, with Ye Anping right next to her, she didn’t feel comfortable summoning Xiaotian.

After all, Xiaotian was her secret. Ye Anping hadn’t even told her where he got all his information from, so of course, she couldn't reveal Xiaotian’s existence to him.

"Young Master Ye, how about we exchange secrets?"

"?"

"What secret?"

"How do you know so much?" Feng Yudie blinked at him. "You tell me that, and I'll tell you a secret I've never told anyone before."

"..."

Ye Anping felt mentally exhausted, thinking it over. He was just about to come up with a plausible excuse when the sound of metal clanging suddenly echoed from the woods nearby.

Ding ding—

The next moment, a furious, high-pitched voice rang through the forest:

"You dogs are still chasing me?! Screw you all!! To hell with you!! Hah—!!"

Boom—

A blast of snow shot up from the forest, uprooting row after row of snow-covered pines.

Ye Anping and Feng Yudie, shoulder to shoulder, stared at the chaos not far away. They exchanged glances for a brief moment before sighing in unison.

"No need to search anymore, let’s go."

"Yeah..."
