Chapter 111: The Resounding Plan
As the two Holy Lands, both wielding Imperial Weapons, reached a deadlock, in the Great Wilderness City, in front of the Heavenly Secret Pavilion, two figures walked side by side.
Leading the way was an old man, frail and feeble, as if a bag of bones. White hair scattered across his shoulders. He walked with a stoop, each step making it seem like he might collapse any second.
Beside the old man walked a middle-aged man, none other than Yang Qiu, the Sect Master of the Nine Nether Demon Sect. He extended his hands, supporting the old man. Every move was cautious and respectful. To those unfamiliar, it would be hard to believe that this was the same ruthless and daring cultivator who had laid a heavy hand on his senior brother.
"Ancestor, please take it slow. We're at the Heavenly Secret Pavilion," Yang Qiu whispered.
"Are we there?" The old man stopped, looked ahead, and his eyes had no pupils, just two black holes like universe singularities, eerie and terrifying. Within the black holes seemed to be dreadful Dao principles, radiating divine brilliance.
"As expected of someone capable of guiding others to become Saint," the old man remarked.
Even someone as formidable as him couldn't see through the Heavenly Secret Pavilion with just a glance. Though seemingly within reach, it felt as if separated by a whole world. The entire pavilion was shrouded in mist, elusive, mysterious, resisting all attempts at scrutiny.
"The esteemed Pavilion Master is undoubtedly extraordinary," complimented Yang Qiu. They had now reached the entrance of the Heavenly Secret Pavilion. Buttering up the Pavilion Master, especially when the opportunity was ripe, was a chance not to be missed.
"Ancestor, watch your step; there are steps here," Yang Qiu assisted the old man, entering the Heavenly Secret Pavilion step by step. Upon lifting his head, they saw Li Yun with a peculiar expression.
"Junior Yang Qiu pays respects to the senior."
"Old man Meng Qingzhi pays respects to the Pavilion Master," both Yang Qiu and the old man bowed.
"Hmm?" Seeing his ancestor also bowing, Yang Qiu's heart skipped a beat; others might not know the senior's strength, but he did. This was an authentic Quasi Emperor, albeit aged and with waning vitality.
Due to approaching the end of his life, he often secluded himself in a coffin. Few knew about the surviving members of the Nine Nether Demon Sect. Even though a dying Quasi Emperor, he remained a Quasi Emperor! Despite the advanced age, his vitality had receded, slightly weaker than the peak Quasi Emperor strength. Yang Qiu was aware of this, but others might not be.
This old Quasi Emperor bowed to the Pavilion Master with such respect. What did that signify? It suggested that the Pavilion Master was undoubtedly more potent than his ancestor! Possibly even a Great Emperor!
If the Pavilion Master was also a Quasi Emperor, his ancestor wouldn't show such deference! Could it be that the Heavenly Secret Pavilion Master was genuinely a Great Emperor?
In this moment, Yang Qiu was utterly confused. Although he had speculated before, witnessing it unfold before his eyes was still unbelievable.
On the side, Meng Qingzhi was similarly amazed. There were indeed many reclusive experts in this world. Who would have thought that such a small city like the Great Wilderness City would conceal someone even he couldn't fathom?
"Please have a seat, both of you," Li Yun, with a strange look, glanced at Yang Qiu. He hadn't expected Yang Qiu, who usually kept a low profile, to bring out his ancestor, a Quasi Emperor, albeit one in a weakened state. Moreover, he appeared to be in poor health, with not much life left. Coming out for a stroll at this time—either he was tomb raiding or harboring some intention.
After Yang Qiu and Meng Qingzhi sat down, Liu Chengxue served tea for the two. Then, she gracefully retreated.
Meng Qingzhi extended his trembling hand, lifting the teacup and taking a sip. Deliberately, he said, "I came here today specifically to express gratitude for the guidance provided by the Pavilion Master. If not for the Pavilion Master's intervention, my Nine Nether Demon Sect might not have gained another Saint today."
As he spoke, Meng Qingzhi cast a pleased glance at Yang Qiu, leaving him embarrassed.
"It was just a small effort," Li Yun casually waved his hand.
Meng Qingzhi's words, to Li Yun, were nothing more than punctuation marks. While it was worth celebrating that a junior had risen from the realm of Holy Lord to a Saint, it was still an exaggeration for a dying Quasi Emperor to come all the way to express gratitude.
"If I may ask, Pavilion Master, have you heard about someone setting up a killing formation outside the Great Wilderness City?" Meng Qingzhi inquired again.
"Indeed," Li Yun nodded. This matter wasn't a secret; spies from various major forces had long sent back information. It was within reason that Meng Qingzhi knew about it.
"To think that there is such an arrogant individual in this world, attempting harm against the Pavilion Master. Please, Pavilion Master, reveal their name to this old man. Regardless of their background, my Nine Nether Demon Sect will not rest until they are dealt with!" Meng Qingzhi roared in anger. His withered body trembled as if truly ignited by fury. However, a hint of darkness flickered in his eyes.
When coming here, he had already learned about the Pavilion Master from Yang Qiu. Any information required an equivalent exchange. By making such a statement, he believed he could elevate his status in the eyes of the Pavilion Master.
Later, he planned to propose the purchase of the method to break the protective formation of the Radiant Light Holy Land. Wouldn't the price then be much more favorable? After all, how many people were willing to help others at the risk of being taken advantage of?
"You've got your plans laid out quite clearly," Li Yun glanced at Meng Qingzhi's demeanor, chuckling inwardly. Slowly, he uttered a few words, "The one who set up the formation is the Radiant Light Holy Lord!"
"Oh?" Upon hearing this, Meng Qingzhi's pupil-less eyes lit up completely! Was there such good news? Whatever he wished for, it seemed the Pavilion Master granted!
