Chapter 123: Falling into a Trap

When Zhu Lingjie proposed with a confident air of "I'm the only one for the job" that she should be the one to do the laundry, Shi Hai found it hard to refuse.

But the thought of handing over his boxer briefs—those boxer briefs—to a girl to wash left him feeling conflicted.

If it were just a matter of throwing them into the washing machine, he could probably deal with it. But intimate clothing like this typically required handwashing.

Letting Zhu Lingjie handwash them… That would be so embarrassing!

In the past, the old Shi Hai would have flatly refused, but circumstances had changed.

Maybe he just wasn’t used to letting close family help with chores? His mom had no qualms about throwing her stockings at him to wash… Laundry between family members was a normal thing, right?

Washing underwear really wasn’t all that different from washing a baby’s diaper.

Now that Zhu Lingjie was his girlfriend, and given their "semi-cohabitation" arrangement, it was fair to say they were practically family.

After all, living together meant "shared life responsibilities," and no matter how passionate a couple might be, once they started living together, the honeymoon phase would quickly fade. They would enter the "adaptation period" or even the "doubt phase," where they’d test whether they could truly live together.

Living together meant spending significantly more time with each other.

When couples only met outside, the time spent together was short, and most of it was spent in romantic moments, so they mainly saw each other's strengths.

But during cohabitation, previously unseen flaws would inevitably become apparent.

For example, a girl who always dressed up and looked polished for dates might turn out to be quite sloppy at home.

Here, Shi Hai’s mom had to be used as an example again.

When Liu Zhenshan was out in public, she always wore a gentle smile, her outfits immaculate and appropriate. Everyone who interacted with her felt at ease, leading many to praise her as a "living Bodhisattva," a "goddess," and a "kind-hearted woman."

But who would have guessed how carefree and messy she could be at home?

Life wasn’t just about romance; there were always mundane chores to deal with.

And after marriage, when kids came into the picture, things would get even more chaotic.

The love once so sweetly shared would be gradually "diluted" into familial affection over time.

But Shi Hai’s situation was slightly different. Not only was he dating three people at once, but they had skipped the honeymoon phase and jumped straight into cohabitation.

Of course, this was partly because the girls happened to live right across the hall.

And it seemed that Shi Hai was the only one who needed to adapt…

Zhu Lingjie, being a reborn individual, had already been married to Shi Hai in her previous life. Jian Sichun had also lived with him for quite some time before. Both women knew Shi Hai inside and out.

Thinking about it that way, letting Zhu Lingjie do his laundry didn’t seem like such a big deal.

To Zhu Lingjie, helping Shi Hai wash clothes—yes, even his underwear—was just a regular thing.

Her unusually assertive and enthusiastic attitude was her way of saying, "You don’t need to be so formal."

Shi Hai realized he might need to adjust his current mindset.

If he acted too reserved, clinging to outdated ideas of propriety even after they had started dating, it might hurt their feelings.

With that in mind, Shi Hai convinced himself to get used to this level of closeness.

His defenses weakened.

"Alright… Fine. I understand. I’ll leave it to you, then," Shi Hai finally agreed.

"Mm-hmm!"

Zhu Lingjie was overjoyed.

Although she had anticipated that Shi Hai would agree, seeing him nod still brought her a sense of relief.

Becoming the first person to taste—no, handle Shi Hai’s intimate clothing made up for the "loss" she suffered last night.

As for what "loss" she suffered, that would have to go back to what happened after Shi Hai fell asleep last night.

Last night, Shi Hai, in a daze, had unknowingly brought Shi Meng into his home and laid her down on his bedding. This action completely disrupted the delicate balance between the three of them.

Just as Shi Hai had expected, once Shi Meng, his little sister, joined in, Zhu Lingjie and Jian Sichun were left with no choice but to stare helplessly. Any sneaky tricks they might have planned couldn’t be carried out.

As for Shi Meng, having the chance to sleep in the same room as her brother was something she couldn’t pass up. If she could, she’d want to sleep in his room every night. But she refrained, knowing it would inconvenience him.

Still, she couldn’t help but wonder: what exactly was going on between her brother and these two women?

How had a simple date turned into sleeping at another woman’s house?

Shi Meng was certain her brother wouldn’t easily commit to these two, but she was curious about what had led to this situation.

For now, though, she had to rearrange the sleeping arrangements for the four of them.

Working together, the three of them carefully laid Shi Hai down from the couch, adjusted his pillow, and covered him with a blanket.

Once they had ensured Shi Hai wouldn’t catch a cold, they turned their attention to dividing up the sleeping spots.

Originally, with just two people, the plan was simple: one person on each side of Shi Hai. But now, with a third person, someone had to give up sleeping next to him.

After all, they couldn’t just pile on top of Shi Hai and use him as a human blanket, could they?

Even though both of them really wanted to, they knew that any excessive action might wake Shi Hai, so they dismissed the idea.

First, one spot was reserved for Shi Meng.

After all, Shi Hai had personally brought her in and placed her on his bedding, which was essentially a "royal decree." Thus, her spot was non-negotiable.

That left only one open spot on the other side of Shi Hai.

Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie, now both officially Shi Hai's girlfriends, were best friends, allies, and, most importantly, part of this unconventional arrangement.

If they only paid lip service to cooperation, it might pass for now. But in the long run, Shi Hai would likely think they were incapable of forming a truly balanced triangular relationship.

If that happened, this delicate love triangle would fall apart.

Therefore, jealousy and competition were strictly off-limits. They had to demonstrate tolerance, even consideration for one another.

What followed wasn’t a dramatic argument but an amicable display of sisterly affection—a scene of mutual understanding.

To Shi Meng, however, the whole situation seemed utterly baffling.

What on earth is going on?

These two women had managed to lure her brother into their home, and now all three of them were sleeping side by side. Yet they weren’t fighting over who got to sleep next to him?

Shi Meng was full of questions. Does this even make sense?

Finally, they decided to leave it to chance, flipping a coin to let fate decide. Jian Sichun won the other side of the bed, leaving Zhu Lingjie to sleep next to her, sharing the same blanket.

Jian Sichun, aware of Zhu Lingjie’s feelings and under the watchful eye of Shi Meng on the other side, found herself with little room for any bold moves. She decided to put aside her mischievous thoughts and focus on simply sleeping well.

Even just lying next to Shi Hai gave her a sense of security. This really is the best spot.

Zhu Lingjie, seeing the usually proactive Jian Sichun show such restraint, felt deeply gratified. Jian Sichun was indeed a remarkable woman.

Charming without being overbearing, knowing when to advance and retreat.

As expected of someone Shi Hai genuinely cared about.

Yes, this was the same devoted, serious Shi Hai who had chosen Jian Sichun as his girlfriend. It made perfect sense for her to be so exceptional.

Unlike Zhu Lingjie, who had the advantage of being in Shi Hai’s life earlier, Jian Sichun had met him in college. Despite this late start, she had quickly become his girlfriend, moved into his home, and progressed to the point of discussing marriage.

If nothing had gone wrong, Jian Sichun might have already become Shi Hai’s wife, just like Zhu Lingjie.

Thinking about it, Zhu Lingjie realized she felt no jealousy or discomfort, only a sense of admiration—a "beauties appreciating beauties" kind of recognition.

Jian Sichun was undoubtedly worthy of Shi Hai, and Zhu Lingjie herself couldn’t live without him…

So perhaps this path, where the three of them were together, was the ideal one after all.

And they had Jian Sichun to thank for making so many efforts to bring this dreamlike triangle to fruition.

Given all her efforts to strengthen their bond, Jian Sichun deserved a small "reward" tonight. Yet she still chose to hold back.

That’s amazing! Zhu Lingjie thought, her heart going out to Jian Sichun.

Moved, she reached out to hug her, wanting to offer her some comfort.

The embrace was warm and soothing, deepening their bond.

On the other side, Shi Meng watched the two women in stunned disbelief.

What are they doing now?

Could it be that my brother agreed to sleep with them because he knows…?

Is this real?

Logically, they should be fighting for the chance to sleep next to her brother.

But now that Shi Hai was already asleep, they shouldn’t need to keep up the act.

Or is it because I’m here?

Do they think they can fool me too, making me let down my guard?

No way! I won’t fall for it!

Determined, Shi Meng kept a vigilant eye on the two women, resolved to protect her brother’s purity and prevent them from succeeding in any schemes.

But as the night wore on, with no suspicious activity in sight, Shi Meng grew both sleepy and confused.

Eventually, unable to hold out any longer, she decided to stop watching the other two and simply enjoy the rare opportunity to sleep next to her brother.

Turning to her side, she reached out toward Shi Hai.

Of course, she didn’t plan anything inappropriate—just to lightly rest her hand on him, that’s all.

However, this innocent gesture triggered an unexpected "trap."

It’s worth noting that Shi Hai was usually a very quiet sleeper, rarely moving around in his sleep.

But tonight was an exception.

Shi Hai had fallen into a deep, unconscious slumber, and, having pushed his limits during the day, he found himself dreaming.

In his dream, anything was possible, and he no longer held back, indulging in everything he couldn’t do in reality.

Even so, Shi Hai’s body remained still in the real world—until now.

And now, he was... primed.

This isn’t about his consciousness; it’s about his body...

Yes, his "muscle memory" had already awakened.

Muscle memory, in essence, is a type of instinct. When Shi Hai wanted to do something, his body would reflexively respond.

For instance, previously, when he wanted to play a video game, his body’s feedback granted him gaming skills. The same applied to playing basketball and driving.

Naturally, the same principle extended to the uninhibited activities in his dreams.

In other words, while Shi Hai subjectively thought he was still an inexperienced virgin...

His body disagreed.

To put it simply, in various alternate futures, he had been Jian Sichun’s boyfriend, Zhu Lingjie’s husband, the master of Tian Shui, and countless other identities yet to be revealed.

His experience far surpassed that of an ordinary person.

Now, in his dream, Shi Hai’s self-indulgence was essentially a series of "commands" issued by his brain.

And because he was asleep, the restraints of rationality no longer held him back.

As a result, his physical body in reality became a kind of "reflex machine."

If left untouched, it would remain dormant. But once triggered, it began to operate.

And so, something astonishing occurred.

Dream and reality began to synchronize.

The first to suffer was of course Shi Meng.

Then, Jian Sichun, who lay next to him, was caught in the crossfire.

A short distance away, Zhu Lingjie watched the unfolding "disaster" in stunned silence.

Near the end, she too fell victim.

Throughout the ordeal, Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie had it far worse than Shi Meng.

This was because Shi Hai’s proficiency came with a built-in "adaptability" for familiar partners.

Since Shi Meng wasn’t as familiar to him, the impact on her was less intense.

But when it came to "familiar women," his skill was fully activated.

Shi Hai could never have imagined that while he had been cautious of the two women before falling asleep, the moment he drifted off, the situation would completely reverse.

When dawn broke, everything finally calmed down.

The three women shakily got up to change their clothes, only to find them beyond salvage.

They even nearly had to clean the carpet as well.

Regardless, they were thoroughly exhausted.

Shi Hai eventually woke up in a daze, oblivious to the fact that the state of the three women upon waking was far worse than his.

Their embarrassment had already transcended into a state of complete bewilderment.

Later, the three of them went to freshen up together, unanimously agreeing to never speak of the incident again.

It was purely accidental. None of them had expected that the usually reserved Shi Hai would suddenly turn into a human massager.

However, they couldn’t deny it had its benefits.

Because in the future... they could definitely make use of it.

Afterward, Shi Meng started chatting with the other two about their date the previous day.

To avoid waking Shi Hai, they didn’t speak aloud, opting to create a group chat to exchange information instead.

When Shi Meng learned that her brother had actually agreed to date them, and that it would be a three-way relationship, she was utterly shocked.

These two women… are truly bizarre.

Perhaps this was the difference between reincarnators and ordinary people.

It wasn’t just about having memories of a past life—there was also a distinct difference in how they approached situations.

At the very least, no normal person would ever propose the idea of a three-way relationship. What was even more terrifying was that they had actually managed to convince her brother to accept it.

As expected—

They were completely insane.

And yet—

Perhaps only women as "abnormal" as them could remain so determinedly by her brother’s side.

After sharing joys and hardships together, Shi Meng finally began to accept them as her brother’s women.
