Chapter 117: Righteous and Demonic Sects Gather

The Ten Thousand Mountains were located in the Southern Borders, while Mystic Spirit Mountain was situated in the northern lands—so far apart that the distance couldn’t be measured in conventional terms.

Fortunately, while the outpost had been destroyed, the teleportation formation remained intact. Li Ran and his group could use it to travel directly to the southern regions.

When he arrived at the teleportation formation, a group of disciples was already waiting.

These were all inner disciples, experienced in combat and with considerable cultivation—forming the backbone of the sect.

“Holy Son.”

“Greetings, Holy Son.”

Seeing Li Ran, the group respectfully saluted.

Even those much older than him showed no sign of arrogance or superiority.

This young man before them was not only the sect’s Holy Son but also ranked first on the Demon Kings List—a figure they could only look up to.

Looking at the group, Li Ran couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional.

The last time he used this teleportation formation, it was to lead a group of junior disciples for training. Now, not long after, the entire outpost had been destroyed.

Sweeping his gaze across the disciples, he said plainly, “No other requirements—just try not to die.”

“Understood!”

“Yes!”

The group responded in unison.

Within the span of an incense stick’s time, Li Ran and the others had traveled thousands of miles, arriving in the southern regions.

The scene before them was one of utter devastation. Broken walls and rubble were everywhere, and the once-thriving outpost was now in ruins.

Scattered beast corpses and the dried blood splattered on the ground told the story of a fierce battle.

Thankfully, due to the teleportation formation, most of the disciples had managed to escape in time, preventing heavy casualties.

“What’s the nearest town from here?” Li Ran asked.

A disciple stepped forward and replied, “Holy Son, the closest town is Nanfeng City, three hundred li away. It’s also the temporary base for all the sects.”

Li Ran nodded. “Good. Let’s head to Nanfeng City first.”

With a thought, he moved the rubble on the ground, causing stones to rise and conceal the teleportation formation—ensuring it wouldn’t be destroyed by beasts.

Then, he led the group into the sky.

Nanfeng City

This small, once-unknown town was now bustling with activity.

Flying swords streaked across the sky, and the streets were packed with people. Cultivators wielding magical artifacts could be seen everywhere.

The beast riot in the Ten Thousand Mountains was not a new phenomenon. Based on past experiences, it could signify the emergence of a powerful demon—a scenario that would lead to a bloody battle for both righteous and demonic sects alike.

But there was also the possibility of heavenly opportunities arising. In that case, everyone’s fate and fortune would be put to the test.

Many rogue cultivators had gathered here, hoping to try their luck and obtain a share of the heavenly fortune.

At this moment, the largest square in the city was filled with cultivators.

The crowd was naturally divided into three groups: the righteous sects, the demonic sects, and a smaller faction of rogue cultivators.

The righteous sects were engaged in spirited discussion.

“I heard both the Ten Thousand Swords Pavilion and Central Heaven Sect have sent people this time?”

“Of course! The beast riot isn’t a trivial matter.”

“Ten Thousand Swords Pavilion must have sent Yue Jianli… but who’s coming from Central Heaven Sect?”

“You don’t know? Lin Langyue, apparently. And they say she’s already broken through to the Nascent Soul Realm!”

“Nascent Soul Realm? Seriously? Didn’t she lose her Dao Heart and have her cultivation drop?”

“Apparently, she entered the Path of Absolute Death…”

“My goodness! A genius is still a genius—she actually managed to restore her Dao Heart and even saw a surge in cultivation!”

As the crowd buzzed with excitement, beams of light suddenly streaked across the sky. Several cultivators dressed in green robes descended into the square, their attire embroidered with small golden swords that marked their identity.

The cultivators from Ten Thousand Swords Pavilion had arrived.

Leading them was the cold and aloof Yue Jianli.

The righteous sect cultivators eagerly moved closer, greeting her with warm smiles and pleasantries.

Yue Jianli, however, only nodded slightly before standing silently in a corner, clutching her long sword.

Her reserved demeanor was nothing new, and no one dared to bother her unnecessarily.

Not long after, several white beams of light flashed through the sky.

A faint, fragrant breeze accompanied the arrival of a group of female cultivators dressed in white robes.

The young Taoist priestess leading them wore a robe embroidered with flowing clouds. Her gaze was tranquil, like a still lake, without the slightest ripple.

It was Lin Langyue.

From across the crowd, Yue Jianli’s eyes locked onto her, showing a hint of surprise.

‘That aura… mysterious and unfathomable. Could she really have survived the Path of Absolute Death and broken through to the Nascent Soul Realm?’

The crowd erupted into a commotion.

“Fairy Lin is here!”

“Greetings, Fairy Lin!”

“Her aura feels even stronger now!”

“She’s truly a blessing to the righteous path!”

Although Lin Langyue had once suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Li Ran, she remained the righteous path’s most outstanding prodigy, admired by countless cultivators in Haotian.

Now, seeing her in this state—her cultivation not only restored but advanced—the admiration for her grew even stronger.

Lin Langyue, however, remained unbothered by the fervor, standing quietly to the side with a colder, more ethereal presence than before.

In contrast, the demonic sects’ side was much quieter, with each sect maintaining a cautious distance from the others. The atmosphere was filled with mutual wariness and vigilance.

Qin Ruyan’s gaze lingered on Lin Langyue, now surrounded by admirers, and a trace of gloom flashed in her eyes.

“She actually survived the Path of Absolute Death!”

“I can’t even discern her cultivation… could she have really reached the Nascent Soul Realm?”

“This is so infuriating…”

Qin Ruyan and Lin Langyue had their share of grudges. Seeing her rise stronger from adversity naturally left Qin Ruyan feeling bitter.

The pale-faced young man beside her, Bai Jiangye, chuckled and shook his head. “What’s wrong, Qin Ruyan? Seeing your rival break through leaves you upset?”

“Bai Jiangye, this has nothing to do with you!” Qin Ruyan retorted with a frown.

Bai Jiangye grinned, revealing his sharp, white teeth. “Why don’t you hire me to kill her for you? Problem solved.”

Qin Ruyan scoffed and ignored the infamous killer.

Unbothered, Bai Jiangye continued, “This beast riot is no small matter. It’s clear that the righteous sects are rallying under the Central Heaven Sect. But what about us demonic sects? We can’t just be leaderless, can we?”

Qin Ruyan narrowed her eyes. “What scheme are you cooking up now?”

“Cough, cough,” Bai Jiangye cleared his throat and said with a sly grin, “Come on, I’m ranked second on the Demon Kings List. Surely I qualify to act as a temporary leader?”

Before Qin Ruyan could respond, several streaks of eerie light suddenly descended upon the square, landing in its center in an instant.

When Qin Ruyan saw the leader of the newcomers, she froze momentarily, then broke into a radiant smile.

“Bai Jiangye, it seems the position of leader isn’t yours to take.”

Bai Jiangye glanced at the newcomer, shrugged, and fell silent.

The previously noisy square fell into complete silence.

All eyes, whether from the righteous path or the demonic sects, were now focused on the man who had just arrived.

It was the first-rank of the Demon Kings List, Li Ran!
