Chapter 145: Benefactor Lin, Please Don’t Be Nervous

“Stand beneath the heavens and wear the stars like a robe?”

Lin Langyue looked at him in astonishment.

This man’s arrogance was beyond her imagination.

She had encountered many powerful cultivators, beings who had harnessed great fortune, including Emperor Realm experts like Yi Qinglan. Yet, they were all merely seekers of the Heavenly Dao.

But Li Ran actually claimed that he was the Heavenly Dao?

If word of this got out, he would be laughed at and mocked for his ignorance and delusions.

Yet, for some reason… she couldn’t bring herself to laugh.

In her mind, the image of that towering Dharma Form surfaced again—

A giant bathed in golden light, with dragons and elephants bowing beneath him, and a vast cosmic expanse stretching endlessly behind him.

Wasn’t that exactly the sky above his head, the stars draped over his shoulders?

What kind of vision, what kind of grand destiny, must one possess to manifest such a divine image?

Li Ran’s words, “I am the Heavenly Dao,” were not mere arrogance.

He was truly walking down that path, step by step.

‘If he really is the Heavenly Dao… does that mean the moon would truly fall to his palm?’

Lin Langyue suddenly felt a pang of unease.

If that day ever truly came, would she really be at his mercy, to be played with as he pleased?

At that moment, she recalled something Li Ran had once said in Qingzhou City:

“Aren't you supposed to be the moon hanging high in the heavens? Well, I'll drag you down to earth myself!”

A blush spread across Lin Langyue’s face. She clutched her chest, her delicate brows furrowing slightly.

It was over. Her Dao heart was completely in disarray.

Li Ran would have never expected his words to have such an impact on her.

Stretching his shoulders, he casually remarked, “Fairy Lin, your massage technique still needs improvement. But that’s fine—we’ve got plenty of time to practice.”

Lin Langyue snapped out of her thoughts and glared at him angrily.

“Why should I improve my massage technique? I— I’m not some tool for your pleasure!”

Li Ran stroked his chin, pretending to be deep in thought. “That’s true, but in this sealed chamber, aside from pleasing me, you don’t really have much else to do, do you?”

Lin Langyue thought about it.

He wasn’t wrong.

This place was completely isolated from the Dao, preventing even cultivation. There really wasn’t anything else to do.

“…We could just talk instead,” she muttered under her breath. “Must you use the word ‘pleasing’?”

Li Ran chuckled. “Just kidding.”

Then he sighed. “We share the same pillow in life and the same tomb in death. I suppose you could say we’re quite fated.”

“The same pillow in life… the same tomb in death?”

Lin Langyue clenched her robes, feeling inexplicably strange.

Just then, Li Ran smirked and said, “You know, if someone finds this sealed chamber in the future and discovers our corpses, they might assume we were lovers.”

“A righteous Daoist fairy and a demonic sect’s Holy Son, unable to be Dao companion because of their opposing paths—so they chose to die for love instead. What a tragic romance.”

He was obviously just teasing her.

In a few days, his Buddhist energy would be fully restored. With the Buddha Bone in hand, breaking the restriction would be a simple task.

And the food he had brought was more than enough to last until then.

Lin Langyue’s face turned crimson, and she stammered, “W-Who’s your Dao companion?! And who’s dying for love?!”

Her focus wasn’t on starving to death but on dying for love…

Li Ran shrugged. “Just imagine the scene.”

Lin Langyue hesitated for a moment, then involuntarily pictured it.

She immediately lowered her head in defeat.

It did seem like a lovers’ suicide pact…

“Master, I’m sorry… Not only did I massage a man, but now I’m going to die with him too.”

Lin Langyue pressed her palms together in sincere repentance.

“Pft–!”

Li Ran couldn’t hold back his laughter.

He never expected her to have such a silly and adorable side.

After her moment of self-reflection, Lin Langyue glanced at her disheveled white robes and sighed softly.

Even though her Nascent Soul body remained pure, immune to filth, and capable of refining anything she ate into energy—her clothes were still very much stained.

For someone who had always valued cleanliness, this was an incredibly distressing situation.

She had always relied on spiritual energy to keep herself tidy and hadn’t brought any spare clothes, so she had no choice but to endure it.

Li Ran noticed her predicament and chuckled, “Your clothes are dirty?”

Lin Langyue nodded. “There’s nothing I can do. Given the circumstances, I’ll just have to put up with it.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a set of white robes was tossed into her arms.

She froze for a moment. “This is…”

Li Ran casually said, “A new outfit. Never worn before. If you don’t mind, you can put it on.”

“Of course I don’t mind!”

Lin Langyue’s mood brightened instantly, but then she hesitated, her voice cautious. “Then… how long do I have to massage you to earn this set of clothes?”

Li Ran laughed. “Look at you, so scared. It’s a gift, no strings attached.”

After all, they were the only ones here. If she was clean and presentable, it would be easier on his eyes as well.

“Really?”

Lin Langyue’s face lit up with joy as she hugged the robes and ran toward the stone steps.

Halfway there, she suddenly stopped, her cheeks flushed. “You— you better not peek!”

Li Ran rolled his eyes. “Relax. I’ve seen plenty of things in my life. Why would I waste time peeking at you?”

“…Alright then.”

With that, Lin Langyue quickly scurried up the steps and found a secluded spot outside the cave to change.

A while later, soft footsteps approached.

She peeked inside hesitantly, her head barely poking through the doorway.

Li Ran smirked. “Why are you hiding like a little gopher? Why not just come in?”

“I…”

She hesitated, then shyly stepped into the room.

The oversized robes draped over her frame awkwardly. One hand clutched tightly at the collar, while the pants—somehow—had become significantly shorter, revealing her long, slender legs.

Her fair cheeks were dusted with pink, and her black-and-white eyes flickered with nervousness, making her look like a delicate, timid little flower.

Li Ran stared at her blankly.

“…Is that really the outfit I gave you?”

Lin Langyue awkwardly tried to cover her legs. “Your clothes were too big, so I thought I’d trim the pants a little… but I accidentally tore off too much.”

Li Ran’s throat bobbed. He sighed, “Are you testing my self-control on purpose?”

Lin Langyue looked embarrassed. “Do you… have another outfit I can borrow?”

“The problem is—I don’t.”

He had gone through several battles, changing outfits multiple times. What he had given her was the last set he had left.

“…Forget it. Just wear it like that. It’s not like there’s anyone else here.”

Lin Langyue bit her lip and cast him a meaningful glance.

But there was nothing she could do. She reluctantly huddled in the corner, wrapping herself up tightly in the oversized robe, leaving only her head exposed.

Li Ran looked at her pitiful state and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Benefactor Lin, please don’t be nervous. This humble monk is a devout ascetic. In my eyes, you are nothing more than mere flesh and bone, just another skeleton dressed in silk.”

Lin Langyue’s face turned red. “I don’t believe you!”

Even if he was a monk, he was obviously a lecherous one!
