Chapter 156: No, Something’s Off with Sheng Zhixia!

The next morning.

Qin Ruyan stepped out of her room.

Leaning against the railing, she gazed into the distance. The warm sunlight bathed her skin, and the drifting emerald clouds looked close enough to touch.

She stretched lazily, her graceful curves on full display.

‘Last night was surprisingly quiet.’

Qin Ruyan blinked. ‘Holy Son Li must have used a soundproofing formation. He really is quite cautious.’

From what she had learned about Li Ran over the past few days, she highly doubted he had spent the night behaving himself.

She walked up to his door and knocked lightly.

"Holy Son Li, it's getting late. Time for breakfast.”

She waited for quite some time, but there was no response.

‘Did he already wake up?’

Qin Ruyan shook her head and turned to leave.

Just as she passed by Yue Jianli’s room, the door suddenly opened.

Li Ran walked out, looking completely refreshed.

"Good morning, Saintess Qin."

Qin Ruyan looked at him, then glanced behind him—only to see Yue Jianli following closely, her face flushed with a hint of shyness.

For a moment, Qin Ruyan was stunned.

"Holy Son Li, you’re not even trying to be discreet anymore?" she asked, puzzled.

Li Ran shrugged. "It’s just the three of us on this floor. Since you already know, what’s there to hide?"

"That’s true," Qin Ruyan nodded in agreement.

Then, as if remembering something, she reminded him, "Still, you should be careful. If Sheng Zhixia sees you two together, it could be troublesome."

"Zhixia?"

Li Ran chuckled and shook his head.

She watched the whole thing last night—she probably knows more than you do!

But now that he had leverage on her, he wasn’t too worried about her making a fuss.

Li Ran stretched, his joints cracking loudly.

"Let’s go eat."

With that, he strode off, with Yue Jianli trailing behind him.

Watching his muscular, powerful frame, Qin Ruyan’s eyes misted slightly.

‘I wonder if Yue Jianli can even handle him…’

—

When they arrived at the dining hall on the second floor, Sheng Zhixia was already there, waiting.

She wore a high-waisted, golden-yellow dress that accentuated her graceful figure. Golden embroidered dragons adorned the fabric, adding a regal elegance to her demeanor.

Her dark hair was loosely tied, with silky strands cascading over her shoulders. She radiated a youthful and refreshing charm.

Qin Ruyan smiled playfully. "Princess Sheng, you look quite beautiful today."

"You flatter me, Saintess Qin. I just freshened up a little," Sheng Zhixia replied humbly.

At that moment, Li Ran walked in.

Her delicate face flushed a deep red, and she avoided his gaze nervously.

Li Ran, however, appeared completely at ease. "Good morning, Princess Sheng."

"G-Good morning, Holy Son Li," she stammered, bowing her head.

Just then, palace maids entered, carrying trays of exquisite dishes.

The table was soon filled with a feast of rare delicacies, each dish radiating a faint spiritual aura—clearly made from extraordinary ingredients.

Once the palace maids had set the food down, they quietly left, leaving only the four of them in the dining hall.

"Everyone, please eat."

Sheng Zhixia called out, and the group took their seats.

During the meal, she kept sneaking glances at Li Ran.

The memory of last night tormented her like a cat scratching at her heart, making the food lose all flavor.

‘Will Li Ran show the recording to anyone?’

‘What if he loses the recording stone?’

‘What if… he does something weird while watching it?’

Sheng Zhixia felt like her head was about to explode.

Just then, Qin Ruyan spoke. "Princess Sheng, are you—"

Sheng Zhixia jumped in shock and immediately shook her head. "I’m not! I didn’t!"

Seeing everyone’s strange expressions, she blushed and lowered her head.

Qin Ruyan raised an eyebrow. "I was going to ask if you weren’t feeling well. You look a little pale."

Sheng Zhixia swallowed nervously and forced a smile. "Thank you for your concern, Saintess Qin. I just… didn’t sleep well last night."

"Oh, I see." Qin Ruyan nodded.

Meanwhile, Yue Jianli, who had been silent, had a look of discomfort flash across her face.

Li Ran had told her everything.

Just thinking about how her wild night had been witnessed entirely by Sheng Zhixia made her want to crawl into a hole.

‘This is all your fault!’

Yue Jianli shot a resentful glare at Li Ran and twisted his waist with her fingers.

"Cough!"

Li Ran nearly choked on his food.

Qin Ruyan's gaze flickered between the three of them, feeling like something was off.

‘Did I miss something interesting?’

"I’m done. You all take your time," Li Ran said, putting down his chopsticks and leaving the dining hall.

"M-Me too. Enjoy your meal," Sheng Zhixia stammered, hastily following after him.

Watching their retreating figures, Qin Ruyan frowned slightly. "Head Disciple Yue, don’t you think those two are acting a little strange?"

Face flushed, Yue Jianli kept her head down and stuffed her mouth with food. "Nope. Seems normal to me."

—

On the flying boat deck

Li Ran lounged in a chair, basking in the sun.

The flying boat wasn’t moving particularly fast, but that only made the journey feel more peaceful—almost like a vacation.

"Holy Son Li."

A soft voice called from beside him.

He turned to see Sheng Zhixia standing there, looking hesitant.

"Princess Sheng, what is it?"

Sheng Zhixia hesitated before saying, "Holy Son Li, could you… destroy yesterday’s recording?"

"What recording?" Li Ran feigned ignorance.

Sheng Zhixia bit her lip. "The one of… that… me."

"Oh, you mean this?"

Li Ran casually pulled out a small, glowing cyan stone.

Sheng Zhixia’s eyes widened, and she immediately reached for it—but just as her fingers brushed against it, the stone vanished.

In her momentum, she nearly stumbled into Li Ran’s arms.

Blushing furiously, she quickly straightened up. "Holy Son Li, stop teasing me!"

Li Ran chuckled and shook his head. "Relax. I just want a little insurance. I’m not so bored as to spread it around."

"But that recording is humiliating!"

Sheng Zhixia hung her head. "If it were to leak, my reputation would be ruined forever!"

Li Ran thought for a moment. "Are you worried no one will marry you? How about this—when the day comes that you find a Dao Companion, I’ll destroy it in front of you."

Sheng Zhixia froze for a moment before shaking her head. "I have no interest in romantic affairs, nor do I plan to find a Dao Companion."

"Really?"

Li Ran stroked his chin, smirking. "Then why do I get the feeling that the Princess is very interested in that sort of thing?"

"I-I am not!"

Sheng Zhixia panicked and turned to flee—only to run straight into Qin Ruyan.

She barely acknowledged her before bolting away with a red face, disappearing into her room.

Qin Ruyan watched her flustered retreat, then turned her gaze toward Li Ran, who was still basking in the sun.

Her delicate brows arched slightly.

‘Something is definitely going on between those two!’
