Chapter 7: This Female Ghost is Quite Capable

A few strands of black hair brushed past Li Pai's ear, drifting forward.

"What the-this is... hair?!"

Li Pai stared at the floating black strands before him and suddenly realized that behind him might be... that white-clad female ghost! She was the only one who could silently appear behind him in the corridor. Judging from the movement of her hair, she should be pressed up closely against his back! No wonder he felt a chilling sensation behind him. This was just too scary!

In an instant, Li Pai's back became soaked. "Damn, did I really buy a horror game instead of a romance game? I'll never play it again after this!”!"

"Does she want to appear in front of me upside down?"

Li Pai felt a chill creeping over him. If this were a beautiful woman adopting a 6 and 9 position, it might not be so bad. But this thing was a terrifying female ghost! Even if she couldn't harm him physically, having her face so close to his was still scary!

Li Pai quickly closed his eyes, thinking, "If I don't look, she can't scare me!" However, the next moment, he gritted his teeth and opened his eyes again. Keeping his eyes closed was like offering himself up for slaughter. Although the female ghost hadn't harmed him yet, Li Pai couldn't be sure if she was neutral or friendly.

His fingers hooked onto the cocking lever of his arm crossbow, preparing to shoot at any moment. The silver bolts should be able to harm ghosts, right?

"Ahh..."

A cold wind blew into Li Pai's ear, making him shiver. This female ghost was really good at this. It felt like being in a romance game, but it was just too frightening, dampening any excitement he might have had.

"That's right... brave visitor, are you scared?"

A cold voice echoed in Li Pai's ear, making him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar. Li Pai didn't reply and slowly moved forward, taking a few more steps to reach another guest room. He couldn't stop exploring; the sooner he left this place, the better.

"Are you here to visit the mistress of this mansion? If that's the case... I need your help!"

A soft voice echoed in Li Pai's ear. Upon hearing this, he stopped in his tracks. The mistress, wasn't that the Broken Beauty Lady, Mrs. Elora? The one behind him... did she know something?

Since she hadn't attacked him, he might as well listen to what she had to say. What if she was an NPC releasing a main quest?

"Who are you? What do you want me to do?"

Li Pai forced himself to remain calm and asked nonchalantly.

"Well, actually..."

"I am the mistress of this place, Elora-Beth!" the female ghost replied.

"You're Elora!" Li Pai was taken aback. His objective in the game was to awaken Elora. And now, he had encountered the main character herself?!

"You must have seen that crazy woman downstairs, right?" the ghost continued. "She's my housekeeper. She coveted my wealth, murdered me, and dismembered my body. Now, I can only appear as a ghost."

"Brave visitor, can you help me?"

The ghost's voice remained icy and kept drilling into Li Pai's ears.

"How can I help you?" Li Pai felt that something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. So, for the time being, he went along with what the ghost said.

"My body was torn into pieces by that crazy woman and scattered in various corners of this mansion. Only by piecing my body back together do I have a chance to resurrect. Can you help me find all the parts of my body?"

The ghost asked.

"Find your body parts..." Li Pai muttered. Wasn't this his main quest in the game? Even if the ghost hadn't mentioned it, he would have had to find them anyway.

"If you are willing to help me..." The ghost continued, blowing cold air into Li Pai's ear. He couldn't help but shiver. "Once I'm resurrected, you can do whatever you want to me!"

This suddenly felt like he was back on the path of a romance game. It was becoming more serious, but the previous setups were just too exaggerated!

However, before Li Pai could agree, something flashed in his mind. Something was wrong! Li Pai clearly remembered seeing a photo of Mrs. Elora in the living room downstairs. She had beautiful golden wavy hair, which left a deep impression. But this ghost... had straight black hair!

While Li Pai didn't know much about ghosts, logically, a person's appearance as a ghost should resemble their appearance when alive. It wouldn't be possible for someone with golden wavy hair to turn into an ordinary-looking person with black straight hair! Even if she could dye her hair and enhance her chest, this explanation was just too far-fetched. There was definitely something wrong with this ghost.

Li Pai became alert in an instant. "Helping you is not a problem," he said, trying not to show his suspicions on his face. "But this mansion is huge, and I have no idea where your body parts are. Also, I'm unarmed, and if I encounter that woman downstairs, I probably won't even have a chance to resist."

He didn't want to confront the ghost too early in case things turned sour.

"I know," the ghost replied. "In the room you just came out of, you'll find my head. In this room, you'll find my left leg. My right leg and torso should be on the third floor. As for my arms, they are likely on the first floor."

The ghost explained the distribution of her body parts, and Li Pai noted it down in his mind. Knowing where the body parts were located would make achieving the exploration progress much easier. As soon as he reached 50% exploration progress, he would leave this haunted place!

As for the main quest or not, Li Pai couldn't care less.

"As for that crazy woman on the first floor..." the ghost continued. "She's indeed not easy to deal with. But don't worry, after midnight, she won't dare to come upstairs. You can safely collect the other body parts. As for the arms... after you gather the other parts, you can check the attic. There seems to be some useful things up there."

The female ghost kept on speaking.
