Chapter 17: Awakening Method

"Only half an hour..."

Li Pai frowned. It was almost the same timing as the system had given him. How accurate was this timing? It meant he couldn't just lie down and wait for time to pass in this situation. Li Pai felt the urge to curse himself for being too curious about the time-limited quest. Now he was in a predicament.

"Is that ghost strong?" Li Pai asked the housekeeper.

"Yes... she's very strong," the housekeeper replied. "Normal physical attacks won't work on her, but she can attack us directly."

"If it weren't for the restriction placed on her by the ancestral artifact, she would have killed me already," the housekeeper added, clenching her teeth.

"I see..." Li Pai shuddered. No wonder the compass reacted so strongly when that entity approached him on the second floor earlier. The reason the ghost didn't directly attack him was probably to lure him into collecting Elora's body parts in the house.

"So, if we want to deal with her, we have to find a way before she breaks free from her restraints!" Li Pai touched his chin thoughtfully.

"That's right. Once she breaks free, it'll be difficult to deal with her. But right now... my mistress can't use her full strength, and we have no means to eliminate the ghost," the housekeeper explained.

"What if... you take your mistress's soul and run?" Li Pai suggested. "I'll buy you some time!"

As a loyal housekeeper, she was willing to coexist and die with the house.

"If awakening your mistress can help you defeat the ghost before she breaks free, then the chances are quite high," the housekeeper said, but her hope was immediately crushed. "However, for hundreds of years, the Beth family has never found a way to wake her up."

"In just half an hour..." the housekeeper sighed, dismissing the possibility.

"I understand..." Li Pai's expression became firm. The situation was clear now. The ghost on the second floor would break free from her restraints in about half an hour, and her strength would become terrifying. If he couldn't deal with her before that, it would be disastrous.

To defeat the ghost, he needed to awaken the slumbering Elora Beth.

"Your mistress's arm should be hidden by you, right?" Li Pai asked the housekeeper.

She was collecting Elora's body, so he assumed she had already hidden the arm.

"What do you want it for?" the housekeeper asked, puzzled.

"No time to explain. I might be able to awaken your mistress," Li Pai replied, his voice resolute.

"What?!" The housekeeper and Teddy bear were shocked. Could this man really awaken Elora Beth? Something the Beth family hadn't accomplished for hundreds of years?

Who was this man, and what was his purpose here?

The two were conflicted. They didn't know Li Pai well enough to trust him instantly, but the situation on the second floor was critical. If they continued to delay, everyone would be in danger.

"Mistress?" The housekeeper looked at the Teddy bear.

For such a critical decision, they had to let Elora decide.

The Teddy bear tilted its head, contemplating the situation. It knew Li Pai had already gathered all of Elora's body parts except the left arm. If the housekeeper handed it over, the Teddy bear's body would be complete, but it would be very risky.

If the ghost broke free, it could potentially seize its body. But if they couldn't wake Elora up, everyone in the house would die, and the Teddy bear would be torn to shreds.

If that happened, the ghost would have enough time to possess a normal person's body and search for them.

"Let's go for it!" The Teddy bear thought in its heart. It had to take risks. It knew that Li Pai could possibly awaken Elora. The situation was urgent, and there was no time to hesitate.

"Hand over the arm," the Teddy bear said, nodding in agreement.

The housekeeper immediately stood up and walked to the kitchen. Not long after, she returned, carrying a bloody arm in her hand.

"I concealed it in the pile of materials. It's not easy to be discovered," the housekeeper explained as she saw Li Pai's surprised gaze.

Materials? Li Pai immediately thought of the previous experiment's subject, but now was not the time to worry about that.

Li Pai took Elora's body out of the consciousness space and laid it flat on the sofa.

"Um..." The sudden appearance of the body shocked the housekeeper. "A spatial item? Who are you?"

She was amazed because spatial items were extremely rare. Only the most powerful family head, Grace Beth, had a spatial item, but it had been lost later.

Li Pai didn't have time to explain. The system's voice rang out.

"Successfully assembled the Broken Beauty's body! Now, please use your love to wake her up!"

"Waking method: (Harmony)."

"What?!" Li Pai's face instantly darkened. He had to wake up Broken Beauty in this way? Although she hadn't died and couldn't be considered a corpse, he had assembled her piece by piece. It was quite gruesome!

Li Pai was having second thoughts.

"No time to waste!" The housekeeper urged, concerned. "Do you really have a way to wake her up?"

Li Pai didn't pay attention to the housekeeper. The system's voice was already in his head.

"You need to move away!" Li Pai gritted his teeth and made a decision. Since he came into the game to explore, doing this to Elora wouldn't deviate from the main storyline. The situation was urgent, and there was no time to hesitate. If he took too long and couldn't awaken Elora, things would turn bad.

"Alright!" The housekeeper nodded and immediately walked out of the living room.

She was curious about Li Pai's method, but she understood the urgency of the situation and didn't want to disturb him.

As for the Teddy bear...

Considering that waking Elora might require her soul to be nearby, Li Pai didn't let the housekeeper take it away.

Then Li Pai moved close to Elora's body, and the system voice continued to echo in his head.
