Chapter 22: Out of the Game!

Gasp!

Li Pai jolted awake, as if a drowning person had suddenly resurfaced, gasping for air.

"I... I'm out?!"

Li Pai surveyed his surroundings.

The familiar small room.

That's right, he had indeed exited the game.

"Phew..."

Li Pai let out a breath.

This gaming experience had truly been exhilarating.

It had to be said, the realism of this game was remarkably high.

Whether it was puzzle-solving, romance, or combat, all the sensations felt just like the real thing.

This realistic experience left Li Pai's back soaked in sweat.

"No wonder this game has such high ratings, it's really interesting."

"Sigh, if only the game scenes were a bit more serious, like schools, hospitals, offices, and such."

"Instead, what I got is something coming straight out of a horror movie, who can handle that?"

Li Pai couldn't help but sigh.

This dating game was a bit unconventional.

However, it had to be said that the process of waking up Elora on the couch had indeed been wonderful.

Li Pai was still savoring it.

Thinking about Elora, Li Pai felt a slight pang of melancholy.

At the moment when his body started to shatter, Li Pai seemed to hear Elora's sobbing...

She really was a lovable big sister...

"I couldn't possibly have fallen for an NPC, right?"

Li Pai smiled wryly.

This kind of bittersweet feeling, could it be what love feels like?

Truly worthy of a dating game...

Li Pai reached out to remove the helmet.

"Hiss... my hand!"

A sensation of pain in his arm made Li Pai gasp for a cold breath, and the helmet slipped from his grasp, falling to the ground.

"What's going on!"

"These are clearly injuries from the game!"

"Why would they...?"

Li Pai was deeply shocked.

After snapping back to reality, Li Pai carefully examined his body.

His right arm and ribs were sore, but it was only a sensation of pain; his bones seemed to be fine.

His head felt a bit dizzy, perhaps because his soul had been detached in the game.

"Injuries in the game can really affect reality..."

Li Pai couldn't help but marvel.

"Ah! The helmet!"

Li Pai snapped out of his astonishment, seeing the helmet on the ground.

The surface of the helmet had a dent, and several parts were scattered on the floor.

"Damn... Is it broken?"

"Now I can't even sell it secondhand!"

Li Pai felt a bit annoyed.

He had spent a month's salary on this helmet, and it was broken after just one night?

The loss was too significant!

And...

Li Pai thought of Elora.

That fluttering feeling returned.

Li Pai really wanted to see her again.

He was starting to hesitate about selling this helmet...

"I'll find a repair shop tomorrow."

Li Pai gathered the helmet and the scattered parts.

After putting everything away, Li Pai entered the restroom.

Drenched in sweat and feeling a bit drained, he was planning to take a shower and go to sleep.

As he entered the restroom, a cold breeze suddenly struck his face.

Goosebumps erupted all over Li Pai's body.

"It's only November, and it's this cold already?"

Li Pai walked toward the window.

Just as Li Pai passed by the mirror on the washstand, a white figure appeared in the mirror.

However, with his tired state, Li Pai didn't notice it.

After closing the window, Li Pai took off his clothes and stepped into the shower.

The sound of water filled the air as steam rose.

Li Pai hummed a tune while shampooing his hair.

Just as he was lathering up his head with soap bubbles, a hand extended from behind Li Pai's head.

Soon after, a pale arm emerged.

A figure with disheveled black hair crawled out from behind Li Pai.

"What is this place?!"

The figure lifted its head.

It was none other than the ghost from the game!

Tilting its head, the ghost looked bewildered.

It remembered that it was on the verge of breaking free from its imprisonment, but then the Sunlight Fruits detonated and weakened it in an instant.

Afterward, the woman from the Beth family had stuffed it into the body of this man.

This man was a lunatic, actually lunging for the Hunter's arrow, intending to take them both down.

The ghost had thought it was done for.

But just as its soul was about to completely dissipate, it found itself brought to this place.

"It's all this guy's fault!"

"If it weren't for him, I would have been able to take over that woman from the Beth family in no time!"

The ghost's eyes gleamed with intense murderous intent.

Li Pai had ruined her plans and nearly annihilated her. Such a deep-seated grudge demanded fierce revenge.

The ghost's eyes were completely consumed by darkness, and a few strands of black hair floated about, reaching out toward Li Pai.

"Huh? What's going on?"

"My power..."

"Why has it weakened so much?"

The ghost suddenly realized that it could only control a few strands of hair!

With this level of power, it couldn't even strangle someone, let alone kill them!

"Could it be..."

The ghost instantly understood.

After being stuffed into this guy's body and impaled by the Hunter's arrow, her soul had been nearly obliterated.

If not for being unexpectedly pulled here at the last moment, she would have disappeared completely.

Though she had survived, her power had been diminished to less than a tenth of its former strength.

In her current state, she was incapable of using hair to harm anyone; at best, she could help Li Pai wash his back.

And in her soul state, she had no other means of causing harm.

"This is infuriating..."

"When I recover, I will definitely torture you mercilessly!"

The ghost gritted her teeth, muttering to herself.

At that moment, Li Pai, who had been scrubbing his head, suddenly turned around.

Startled, the ghost quickly shuffled backward.

In her weakened state, she couldn't even defeat a novice Hunter.

She was feeling quite uneasy.

Thankfully, Li Pai was still shampooing and hadn't opened his eyes.

The ghost breathed a sigh of relief.

However, the scene before her made the ghost shiver once more.

A blush tinged her pale cheeks.

The darkness in her eyes receded slightly, revealing the whites.

"That... damn guy!"

"Doesn't he wear clothes while bathing?"

"Ah... well, I guess you don't really need to wear clothes while bathing..."

The ghost used a few strands of hair to try to cover her eyes.

Unfortunately, her hair was too sparse to be effective.

"Ah! He used this thing to break the Beth family's curse that lasted for hundreds of years, didn't he?"

The ghost recalled the commotion she had heard on the second floor.

At the time, she couldn't quite understand why, when she was about to break free from her captivity, they were still engaged in that activity downstairs.

Now, it made sense...

It was likely they were breaking the curse!

The curse that had plagued the Beth family for hundreds of years had actually been broken by this thing?

What kind of artifact was this!

The ghost couldn't help but take a few more glances toward the giant meaty stick that was attached to Li Pai's lower half.

"If this thing can truly break curses..."

"Then perhaps it can also break the curse on me..."

A spark lit up in the ghost's eyes.
