Chapter 30: How to Lift the Curse

Reason calmed Snow White's anger somewhat.

Simultaneously, with Li Pai's soothing presence, Snow White felt a trace of warmth.

As her resentment gradually faded, the whites of her eyes became visible again.

"This guy..."

"Is he risking his life just to calm me down?"

"He really is a thoughtful guy."

Snow White sighed inwardly.

Meanwhile, she also recalled Li Pai's selfless act of taking an arrow for her earlier.

Although the arrow wouldn't have harmed her, Li Pai's action still moved her.

Her long hair floated down slowly.

The rage was finally subsiding.

"Snow White's fondness for Li Pai has increased from E to D."

Li Pai let out a sigh of relief within himself.

When he was hugging Snow White just now, he was extremely anxious.

He was afraid that Snow White wouldn't be able to control herself and would stab him a few times.

Fortunately, he managed to successfully soothe her.

However, this Princess Snow White was truly emotionally unstable.

He wasn't sure if it was due to her inherent princess attitude or if the curse had amplified her emotions, causing her to erupt so easily.

Her fondness for him seemed to be fluctuating constantly, like a piston's motion.

Being around such an emotionally unpredictable spirit did make him quite uneasy.

In comparison, Erora was much better—big, pure, and caring.

Unfortunately, Li Pai didn't know how to obtain a physical body, nor did he know how to find Erora.

At the moment, it's best to focus on resolving the main storyline issue.

"Do you know how to lift the curse on you?" Li Pai inquired.

"The most direct way to lift a curse is to kill the person who cast it."

"I had originally planned to seize a strong body, infiltrate the royal city, and assassinate that old witch."

"Unfortunately, you messed up my plans..."

Snow White glared at Li Pai.

"Assassination? Can't you just go directly?"

"Why do you need to find a specific body?" Li Pai continued to inquire.

For the sake of the main storyline, he needed to be thorough in his questions.

"The curse I'm under makes me extremely fearful of sunlight."

"Staying under the sun for a prolonged period would obliterate me."

"This Nightshade Forest is shrouded in perpetual darkness due to the ever-present overcast sky and the canopy woven from branches. That's the only reason I can barely move around during the day."

"Once I leave this forest, I have to hide during the day."

"Furthermore, the old witch's power derives from darkness."

"At night, her strength is formidable. I'm definitely no match for her."

"To kill her, I'd have to find a way to strike during the day."

Snow White explained.

During the day, she was weak, and at night, her enemies were strong—it was a challenging situation.

Comparatively, if she could inhabit a physical body, it would be easier to strike during the day.

"Killing the caster of the curse..."

"This should be the more conventional method of lifting curses."

"But there must be other ways, right?"

Li Pai remembered the bloodline curse of the Verthorne family, which was lifted through continuous exploration.

Perhaps there were other methods to lift Princess Snow White's curse too.

Killing the Queen could be considered a HARD difficulty, and unless absolutely necessary, Li Pai didn't want to face the big boss directly.

It would be better to start with alternative methods.

"Perhaps, but I'm not sure."

Snow White sneakily glanced at Li Pai.

There was a potential method to lift the curse that Snow White wasn't entirely certain about, so she didn't mention it.

However, if the curse of the Beaute family that persisted for hundreds of years could be lifted, maybe hers could too...

But the current situation left Snow White puzzled.

Lifting the curse—did it require living people and living people, or could living people and spirits work, or even spirits and spirits?

With various combinations to consider, the situation grew complex.

After all, she was a noble, pure princess. If not for seeking revenge, she wouldn't entertain the thought of such actions with someone as ordinary as Li Pai.

If she had to explore all these possibilities... it would require how many attempts?

No, no, she needed to clarify before proceeding. She was a princess, after all; for the sake of lifting the curse, one attempt would suffice.

Definitely not more than once!

"I see..."

Li Pai rubbed his chin.

This was really perplexing.

The system wasn't giving any helpful hints either.

"Princess Snow White's Exploration Progress: 20%."

The system chimed, but it wasn't a hint—it was just an increase in exploration progress after their previous conversation.

It seemed like Li Pai was on his own for this.

"By the way, do you know how to get to that house from yesterday?"

"Elora's family has been a family of demon hunters for hundreds of years; they should have some knowledge about curses."

"If we're completely stumped, we can go ask her."

Li Pai thought of Elora.

Hmm, that was a good idea.

He could deepen his interaction with Elora while also learning more about how to lift Snow White's curse. It was a two-in-one situation.

"That woman..."

Snow White furrowed her brows slightly.

Elora had caused her quite a bit of trouble yesterday, and thinking about her still made Snow White a bit unhappy.

Moreover, that woman seemed quite close to Li Pai...

Was Li Pai genuinely trying to help her lift the curse, or was he just eager to meet his little lover?

A tinge of sourness flashed through Snow White's heart.

Under the influence of the curse, that sourness intensified...

"Snow White's Affinity: D→E."

Seeing the sudden change in affinity, Li Pai's face scrunched up in confusion.

What the hell did I do now?

Is this ghost girl affinity rating some kind of shapeshifter? Does it fluctuate up and down without logic?

However, it seems like the main quest doesn't have much concern about affinity, so even if the ghost affinity is at Z, it wouldn’t really do much.

All I need to do is lift Snow White's curse, help her get her revenge, and that should be enough, because of that, I wouldn’t need to worry about Snow White's affinity for me.

"Snow White, listen to me, I know where that house is, "But with my current strength... I might not be able to reach that place."

After a moment of silence, Snow White said coldly, "Going to their house requires strength? What kind of strength? Financial strength?"

Li Pai was puzzled, "The Bette family is a renowned family of hunters. Their surroundings are filled with traps against monsters and evil spirits. Without a certain level of strength, going there would be suicidal."

The Bette family might be in decline, but Erola was still living leisurely. She definitely had something to rely on. Without those defense measures, even a horde of vengeful creatures could flatten that house several times over.

"I see..." Li Pai felt like he hit a roadblock.

Back when he was at Erola's house, the space was small, and there was only so much to explore. Just wandering around could increase the exploration progress.

But here...

In this vast forest, where should he go?

Just then, a group of crows flew up from the sky not far away, their calls sending shivers down their spines.

"Uh-oh!"

"Run!"

Snow White's expression suddenly changed, and she grabbed Li Pai's hand, pulling him in the opposite direction!
