Chapter 18: Elementary School Duel

"Friendship and unity?"

Chen An looked at the two cards handed to him by the mysterious woman, and the words written on them that could help him save Lu Li. He clenched his teeth and then quickly dashed towards the shopping mall.

Meanwhile, the mysterious woman gazed meaningfully at the departing elementary school student.

"Though the leap from 'a cute transfer student has joined the class' to 'god vs. god' is a bit abrupt, since it's you, I'm sure you can bridge the gap... my dear."

To maintain the best shopping experience for customers, the store released its special aroma, enveloping the air with a delightful fragrance that tickled the senses. But if he could, Chen An would have preferred to smell the pungent scent of sulfur.

Although that lady had said that Lu Li hadn't detonated the bomb, to be on the safe side, he needed to ensure the bomb wouldn't explode. Then he needed to find Lu Li. Both of these objectives were nearly impossible for a seven-year-old elementary school student.

He didn't know where the bomb was, and he didn't know where Lu Li was. How was he supposed to find a little girl in this large, crowded mall? Even if Lu Li stood still in one place like a lost puppy, finding her would be extremely difficult.

Calm down. While his body was that of an elementary school student, his mind wasn't. There had to be a way to find the bomb and Lu Li!

Chen An surveyed his surroundings, analyzing the situation in his mind. His gaze finally locked onto the fourth floor of the mall, where the words "Cram School" were displayed. Given Lu Li's inherent hatred for cram schools, the bomb probably had a high chance of being nearby. Considering the bomb's size and the criteria for a suitable hiding place, the most suitable location should be...

"Little brother, why are you here?"

A startled voice rang out, and Chen An turned toward the source to see Li Kui walking towards him.

"Police officer!"

Chen An hesitated for a moment, feeling a sudden unease. He hurriedly asked, "Why are you here? Shopping?"

"Well, not exactly. Recently, I've become quite sensitive to the words 'cram school.'"

Li Kui gestured towards the cram school on the second floor and shook his head. "I heard they're hosting a cram school gathering event here, so I came to take a look... By the way, what are you doing here?"

Chen An hesitated for a moment and then waved at Li Kui, motioning for him to lower his ear. Li Kui crouched down and leaned in.

"I suspect there might be a bomb here!"

Li Kui nearly fell over and instinctively stood up, looking around anxiously.

With so many people here, what if the bomb goes off!

"It's alright, the culprit only intended to target the cram school. Innocent bystanders won't be affected... probably?"

Chen An said with some uncertainty, "What we need to do now is evacuate the crowd without alarming the other party, and then remove the bomb. Based on my estimation, the bomb should be hidden near the cram school, in places that people don't frequently visit but could be used for hiding."

"I understand!"

Li Kui took a deep breath, turned and headed towards the cram school. However, he suddenly turned back, looking worriedly at the young elementary school student in front of him. "Kid, you better head home quickly. It's not safe here."

"Sure, I'll leave."

With that, Chen An walked toward the exit. He continued until he was sure that Li Kui had set off to communicate with people using his police identity, and then quickly made his way to the escalator.

The issue of the bomb was tentatively resolved. Now, there was only the matter of Lu Li left. Although it was highly impractical to search for a girl who could be hiding anywhere in such a large shopping mall,

He had an idea, it might not be correct, but it was worth a try!

Second floor, third floor, fourth floor, fifth floor...

With the last of his strength, Chen An pushed open the heavy door and gasping for breath, stood on the rooftop, looking at Lu Li who seemed to have been waiting for a while.

"Hey! Do you have an obsession with rooftops? Hey! Do you know how tiring this is!"

"But you came anyway."

Lu Li looked at her desk mate with a complex expression. She never expected him to show up here.

"Stop, Lu Li!"

Holding a Desert Eagle, Chen An aimed at her wrist, as she held something that looked like a 'remote control'. "There are police outside, you have nowhere to go."

"I don't care."

Lu Li replied nonchalantly, "At least I can turn a bunch of cram schools and those who run them into stars in the sky."

"Do you not care about being arrested?"

Chen An frowned, "Forget about having a good summer vacation, you'd spend the whole holiday in boredom and under the constant nagging of adults."

"I don't care."

Lu Li extended her right hand behind her and when it reappeared, a heavy black pistol appeared in her hand. The gun's pitch-black barrel was pointed directly at Chen An, but her eyes were even scarier than the barrel.

Seeing the gun in front of him and the doll-like eyes without any gleam of light, Chen An sighed once again and slowly put down the Desert Eagle.

"Listen, Lu Li, you don't actually hate your parents, and you don't actually hate cram schools. No, you probably don't even know how many strokes are in the word 'hate'. What you want is just a pleasant time without cram schools. So... do you want to play a game with me? Let's use the outcome of the game, bet the remote control in your hand. If I win, you give it to me."

Lu Li's non-gleaming eyes suddenly focused, and her voice unintentionally rose, "What if you lose?"

"If I lose, you still have to hand over the remote control. But for the next few days, even during the summer vacation, I'll shout for you downstairs, accompany you to school, and... carry your backpack for you."

Chen An made a bold promise!

"Deal!"

Lu Li's eyes gleamed. She put the remote control back into her backpack and walked towards Chen An with an energetic tone, "Then let's settle the outcome with 'this'!"

Saying that, she pressed the black button on the gun's handle. The magazine instantly popped out, and then she pushed out each BB bullet one by one, leaving only the last one.

"Playing with airsoft guns on the rooftop?"

Chen An asked helplessly, "Did you bring a screwdriver? Disassembling this thing takes quite some effort."

"Uh... isn't there a mall downstairs?"

Lu Li replied uncertainly, "How about going down and buying a screwdriver?"

"Don't you think it's a bit of a buzzkill to go downstairs now to buy a screwdriver and then come back up to dismantle the gun, considering the circumstances?"

Saying that, Chen An took off his backpack, took out a prepared small box from it, and then opened it, revealing a pile of cards with swirling backs in front of Lu Li.

"Or we could settle the outcome with 'this' that we agreed upon from the start."
