Chapter 32: The Little Cabin

"Snow White, I want to ask, do you have any acquaintances or friends that are not particularly blessed in their height?”

"Particularly unblessed in height?"

"Other than children, the people I know have normal heights. I don't know anyone who's particularly short."

Snow White tilted her head, her long hair flowing.

"I see..."

Li Pai nodded and didn't press further.

If he's not mistaken, the main storyline involving Princess Snow White should indeed include the seven dwarves.

If Snow White doesn't have an impression of the dwarves...

It's possible that she hasn't encountered them yet.

"In fairy tales, the dwarves seem to live in a small cabin in the forest."

"And this is a forest, isn't it!"

Li Pai seemed to have a clue.

Given the system's nature, it definitely wouldn't give him an open world to explore. Where he appeared must have a connection to the main storyline!

So...

If there are indeed dwarves, they must be in this forest!

Li Pai breathed a sigh of relief.

In the absence of any clues, Li Pai used his knowledge of fairy tales to extract a little bit of information. He wasn't sure if his judgment was correct, but at least he had a clear direction now.

"Snow White, are you familiar with this forest?"

"Have you ever seen any buildings like small cabins?"

Li Pai turned and asked.

Snow White had spent some time in this forest, so if she knew the way, it would be perfect.

"A cabin?"

"Now that you mention it, I do have a vague memory of seeing such a thing in the past."

"But..."

"The cabins in the forest are the places that our spirits are least willing to approach."

"Anyone who can live in a cabin in a forest filled with magical creatures is most likely a witch."

"And witches are skilled in matters related to souls..."

While combing her hair with her fingers, Snow White spoke.

"Witch..."

Li Pai thought of Elora; she was indeed a witch.

In the previous battle, Elora had used some methods that were effective against evil spirits.

"So, can a witch also... stop! Now is not the time for tangential thinking!"

Li Pai reminded himself internally.

For some reason, whenever he thought of Elora, his mind easily wandered in a strange direction, more specifically, to the memory of when he was working hard to fix her curse.

Was Elora's charm too strong, to the point where it’s deeply rooted in his mind?

Or was it the wonderful experience they had on the couch before that he couldn't forget?

Li Pai didn't dare to think further.

If he thought too much, he might unconsciously materialize the little Li Pai, and that would be disastrous.

"If you believe me, take me to that cabin."

"I have a feeling that we might find a solution to the curse on you there."

Li Pai spoke vaguely.

He could only make educated guesses at this point and shouldn't state things too definitively. What if they actually encountered a hostile witch...

This situation isn't easy to handle.

"Really?"

Snow White's eyes lit up, and her black hair danced in an instant.

It was evident that she was excited now.

The curse had brought her endless suffering. If she could break free from it, not only would she feel more comfortable, but she could also leave this forest and seek revenge on the old witch!

"I only remember the general direction for that place. So follow me closely."

Snow White turned around and floated in a certain direction.

"Hey, can you give me a little help?"

"It'll make us move faster."

As an ordinary spirit, Li Pai was somewhat slower than Snow White, hence, if he were able to have Snow White to pull him along, it would make it more efficient for the both of them.

It’s definitely not because he was too lazy.

Not at all.

Snow White thought Li Pai's suggestion made some sense. She held Li Pai's hand with her fair little hand and swiftly drifted toward the depths of the forest...

After about fifteen minutes, the female spirit suddenly stopped by a withered tree.

"It's over there."

Then, Snow White extended her pale finger and pointed ahead.

Li Pai followed the direction Snow White pointed.

Not far ahead, surrounded by the withered trees and mist, there stood a cabin, quietly resting there.

This cabin...

It looks a bit large!

The more Li Pai looked at it, the more it resembled the one from Resident Evil 7!

"I hope there's no welcoming father-in-law and enthusiastic wife inside..."

Li Pai silently prayed in his mind.

Judging by the size of the cabin, it didn't seem like the typical dwelling of a solitary witch.

Seven dwarves... With that many people living in one place, it’s quite logical for them to live in a big house.

"Do we... really need to go in?"

"I sense a hint of danger."

Snow White's expression grew serious, her tone icy.

Although Snow White's strength had been severely damaged, she was still a third-level evil spirit.

If she felt danger, it meant this cabin... was indeed suspicious.

"We definitely have to go."

"But before that, there is something important that I need to try, so, just wait here.”

After Li Pai finished speaking, he moved behind a withered tree.

Before venturing into the cabin, Li Pai decided to test whether he could leave the game.

If he could leave... then there wouldn't be much to fear.

If he couldn't...

Then he would have to be as cautious as he was back at Elora's house...

"Exit the game!"

Li Pai silently recited in his mind.

A white light shone.

Li Pai felt a force suddenly pulling him away.

The next moment, Li Pai opened his eyes.

He was in a familiar room, his IRL room to be more precise.

"I'm out!"

Li Pai's eyes brightened, and he instantly felt a sense of security.

Being able to exit meant he didn't have to panic so much!

It's just a small cabin, after all!

Let's go!

Li Pai took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and prepared to enter the game.

He didn't notice that behind him, Snow White was silently staring at him...

"Enter the game!"

Li Pai silently recited in his mind.

The next moment, Li Pai returned to the spot where he had disappeared earlier.

"Let's go!"

"Let's explore this little cabin together!"

"Hopefully, we can find a way to lift your curse or restore your strength!"

With the ability to go back and forth at will in his hand, Li Pai's confidence had grown significantly.

Snow White nodded and took the lead in walking forward.

Li Pai's recent actions were a bit strange, but Snow White quickly understood.

He might have been testing whether he could leave this place.

Although she didn't know what method he used, the results seemed promising.

If they encountered danger later, there would be a way to escape.

This boosted Snow White's confidence quite a bit.

Side by side, the two slowly approached the cabin.

As they got closer, Li Pai felt increasingly uneasy, as if a stone were pressing on his chest.

This intangible pressure made Li Pai realize that this cabin was definitely not ordinary.

With the pressure looming, they reached the front door of the cabin.

Li Pai drew out a hand crossbow and loaded a silver bolt.

Snow White's hair floated gently, with a strand resting on the doorknob.

The two exchanged a glance, confirming that they were both prepared.

Then, Snow White turned the doorknob slowly.

"Click!"

The door opened a crack.

And immediately, a chilling aura swept out...
