Chapter 22: Boarding the Ship

When Morgan began handling the affairs of Orkney, she quickly realized that it was far from an easy task.

Especially since two new troubles had recently arrived—both from Camelot.

The first was that old fraud, Merlin.

He spent his days flirting with women, unable to resist sweet-talking any young girl he came across, often taking advantage of them in subtle ways. Given his noble status and striking looks—second only to her husband, Lot—many unsuspecting young girls easily fell for his tricks.

But Morgan would never tolerate such lecherous behavior.

She cracked down on it—hard.

However, Merlin was no ordinary man. Aside from Lot, no one could catch him.

That old scoundrel! If he weren’t actually useful, Morgan would have had her husband throw him into the sea and make him swim back to Camelot.

The second trouble was Artoria.

He was honest. (Tn: There’s no typo here—at this point, Morgan still doesn’t know Artoria’s real gender.)

He worked diligently.

He was skilled in combat.

But—he ate too much.

Just by himself, he managed to eat the food ration that is meant for an entire squad.

Morgan finally understood why Sir Ector, a renowned sword master, was so poor.

And why he had been so quick to send both Kay and Artoria to serve under her.

Of course, there was one more person who annoyed her even more.

Lot.

That man spent his days lazing around, sneaking off to who-knows-where to sleep.

Yet, when it’s nightfall, he was full of energy, enough to keep her ‘awake’ till morning.

Meanwhile, she had to work tirelessly, day and night, both in and outside of their chamber.

Why was her husband so lazy?

Hmph! If it weren’t for his good looks and sharp mind, she would’ve smashed him with a hammer by now.

As for now...

Morgan imagined a future where she became the ruler of Britain. Lot would be locked up in the palace, forced to handle all the government affairs for her, while she enjoyed a life of endless glamour and luxury.

Ah... satisfaction.

With that thought, she turned back to her work.

At that moment, the door opened, and in walked Lot, carrying a fishing rod over his shoulder.

"Morgan, how’s it going?" he asked with a smile.

[Heh, now you see how troublesome ruling is, don’t you? Let’s see if you still crave Camelot’s throne after this. Once you give up, I’ll step in to handle things. The time isn’t right yet—I’ll wait until the perfect moment, then take a land even greater than Camelot for you.]

Hearing his thoughts, Morgan pouted.

You are so lazy, when will your so-called "perfect moment" ever come?

And another thing—sure, you’re my handsome fool, but I don’t need to rely on your generosity.

I, Morgan, am more than capable!

With my talent and determination, if I had to wait for you to "give" me power, how would I be any different from those pretty little ornaments who dared to call themself queens?

Lot, I know you’re powerful. But I, Morgan, am no less than you.

I want to be the ruler of Britain, a co-sovereign alongside you.

Not just a queen.

So, there’s no way I’ll accept your plan.

Pointing at the documents, Morgan said nonchalantly, "This is not much, I finished it easily."

Her hands were nearly cramping from exhaustion, but there was no way she would admit defeat now.

"Really?"

Lot eyed the mountain of paperwork with skepticism.

[This is "not much"? When I first saw all this, I nearly cried! But... I shouldn’t pile any more work on her. If she gets too exhausted, that would be bad.]

Hearing his thoughts, Morgan felt satisfied.

At least this fool still knew how to care for her.

"Lot, who do you think I am?"

Morgan spoke with no small amount of pride.

[Say someone’s fat, and they start gasping for air.]

Lot silently grumbled in his heart.

Morgan’s mouth twitched.

Alright, so you dare call me fat? Fine, I’ll remember this grudge.

Unaware that he had just earned himself another black mark in Morgan’s mental ledger, Lot took her hand and said, "Alright, most of the paperwork is done for now, let’s move to the next agenda."

"Now? Why not wait till the sun sets?"

Morgan glanced out the window.

It was still daytime.

If they were to copulate in here, what if someone came in?

"What are you thinking?" Lot looked at Morgan’s expression. He couldn’t read minds, but he could definitely tell what she was imagining.

"I meant, we should prepare the ships. It’s time to inspect the troops and get ready for departure. Coastal voyages take quite a long time, you know."

Lot sighed, half amused.

"Oh."

Morgan let out a breath of relief.

But then—she realized she had just been played by Lot.

"I was thinking about the ships all along. Did you misunderstand me?"

She spoke with a straight face, lifting her chin and walking forward with the grace of a noblewoman.

"Come, let’s go check on the army."

"Alright."

Lot followed closely behind her.

And then—

Plap

"Lot, you bastard!"

Morgan gritted her teeth, glaring at him viciously.

Why the hell did you slap my ass while walking past me?!

She had caught his intentions through his thoughts, but Lot’s close-combat skills were leagues ahead of hers. Her body just couldn’t react in time.

…

Although she was embarrassed and angry, she had to maintain her dignity in public.

She had her pride.

Of course, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t get revenge.

Standing beside Lot, she lightly pinched his waist with her fingers.

She enjoyed two things in that moment:

First, the way Lot tried to act like nothing had happened despite the pain.

Second, the way he screamed in his mind.

Serves you right!

Morgan thought smugly.

Ahead of them, a force of several thousand troops had already assembled.

At the very front stood Kay and Artoria.

"Reporting, King Lot! The Orkney forces have been fully assembled! Aside from the troops stationed on the islands to maintain order, all 5,000 soldiers are accounted for!"

Kay shouted loudly.

"Good. Very good—you did well."

Lot praised him, then turned his gaze toward the ships docked by the shore.

"Let’s go. Time to board and set sail."

As for a certain someone still off somewhere flirting with women?

No need to wait for him.

Merlin would catch up. He always did.
