Volume 2 Chapter 88: The Battle to the Death Ends

Within the fireball, burning hotter than the surface of the Sun, two titans clashed.

One had lost its heads and a quarter of its body.

The other had only its heads left, with barely a quarter of its body remaining.

The unimaginable heat continued to melt their flesh, Kaiser Ghidorah had even lost its vision, one of its deadliest weapons.

The mutilated Godzilla stood, what remained of its heads staring down its foe.

Its tail coiled around one of Ghidorah’s heads.

Its sole remaining arm gripped another.

Its feet stomped down upon the last, pinning it to the searing ground.

But Kaiser Ghidorah wasn’t finished.

With a sudden burst of colossal strength, its remaining two legs surged forward, dragging Godzilla along through the inferno, trying to throw it off balance and make it fall.

At the same time, Ghidorah’s three remaining heads unleashed blazing energy beams, searing into Godzilla’s already-melting form.

A battle beyond human imagination raged in the inferno.

A war of monsters that no living being had ever dared to dream of.

“GYAAAOONG!”

Suddenly, Godzilla let go.

Instead of keeping its tail wrapped around Ghidorah’s head, It whipped its tail around and coiled it around Ghidorah’s legs instead.

Not pulling outward, but to the side.

Kaiser Ghidorah had been balancing precariously, exerting force while struggling not to collapse.

This sudden shift tipped the scales.

The thousands of megatons that made up its body tilted, then toppled.

It had no front limbs.

No wings to catch itself.

Ghidorah fell.

Its necks wrenched sideways, dragging its heads down with it.

Godzilla released the head in its grip and smashed it aside with a crushing blow.

With the space to adjust its footing, Godzilla lowered its upper body and fired.

The second-to-last blast from its failing nuclear core erupted forth, a devastating burst aimed directly at the fallen Kaiser Ghidorah.

But, Kaiser Ghidorah’s body was stronger than Godzilla’s.

The freed heads, knocked aside by the impact, swung back around.

Like wrecking balls, they whipped through the air and slammed into Godzilla mid-breath.

The impact was tremendous.

Godzilla was crushed to the ground.

And in that instant, the final head broke free.

Three sets of jaws lunged.

They clamped down on Godzilla’s last remaining arm.

With all their strength, they dragged it forward toward Kaiser Ghidorah’s broken, fallen form.

But, Godzilla roared.

And fired.

Its final breath attack erupted forth and blew itself, its arm, and all three of Ghidorah’s heads apart.

The explosion consumed them, sending shockwaves through the battlefield.

Kaiser Ghidorah, headless, blinded, and burning, thrashed wildly in the chaos.

With its electromagnetic senses overwhelmed, it could no longer track Godzilla’s location.

It was blind. Deaf. Alone.

In its rage, its headless necks flailed, spewing beam attacks in all directions, setting off wave after wave of detonations.

But, Godzilla sensed everything.

Through the Earth-Wide Radar, it evaded the blasts.

And then, It struck.

With one crushing kick, Godzilla slammed into Kaiser Ghidorah’s broken body.

Ghidorah’s remaining necks instinctively snapped toward the impact and unleashed another beam barrage.

But at that moment, Godzilla’s tail fell from the sky.

Like a divine hammer, it slammed down.

At the same time, Godzilla leapt.

The attack that should have struck it instead struck Ghidorah itself.

The explosion ignited once more.

And Godzilla—

Landed.

Its feet crashed down upon Ghidorah’s chest.

And the spot where it landed was Kaiser Ghidorah’s nuclear core.

With a thunderous impact, Godzilla’s full weight crushed it.

The outer casing cracked.

The inner core fractured.

The titanic reactor that had fueled Ghidorah’s impossible power was breaking apart.

Yet, even now—

Kaiser Ghidorah refused to die.

Its body pulsed.

Beneath its shattered, melting form, new limbs were growing.

The battle was not yet over.

The battle was savage, merciless, and beyond reason—

Amidst flames hotter than the surface of the sun, Godzilla and Kaiser Ghidorah engaged in their final struggle.

Two feet versus one arm.

Kaiser Ghidorah's tail was pinned beneath its own body, making it useless.

Godzilla’s tail, however, remained free, whipping out now and then to harass Ghidorah’s necks, disrupting its aim as it tried to unleash another beam attack.

But in the end, Kaiser Ghidorah gave up on its breath weapon entirely.

It refused to risk harming itself any further.

Instead, It swung its massive necks like whips, brutally lashing at Godzilla over and over again.

Each strike tore into Godzilla’s already molten body, causing some of its internal reactors to rupture.

But, Godzilla had many reactors.

Losing one or two meant nothing.

Kaiser Ghidorah had only one.

Destroy that, and Ghidorah would be forced into eternal slumber.

Jump. Stomp. Tail whip. Severed arm thrust.

Neck lash. Grab. Throw. Struggle to stand.

The insane brawl continued in the inferno.

Then, Kaiser Ghidorah's newly regenerated arm managed to seize Godzilla’s leg and hurled it aside.

For the first time, Ghidorah stood again.

Its three severed necks turned to face the fallen Godzilla.

And then—

It fired.

The final beam attack.

The threefold blast tore across the battlefield, reducing everything to ash.

For one… two minutes, Kaiser Ghidorah received no counterattack.

It began to believe that it had won.

But then, something fell from the sky.

Directly above its headless shoulders.

It wasn’t a body.

It was a dorsal fin.

<+>

The fireball dissipated far more slowly than humanity had expected.

By the time Earth’s satellites could finally peer inside,

What they saw was a broken corpse.

And the scarred wasteland that had once been a battlefield.

It was the body of their most feared enemy.

Kaiser Ghidorah.

Its three heads were gone.

Its four wings were utterly destroyed.

Its remaining limbs had been reduced to a single arm and two legs.

It was a truly pitiful sight.

And the final wound that killed it, a deep gash running along its back.

As if it had been slashed open.

And from that wound, a tail had burrowed inside, tearing apart its insides, ripping through its primary fusion core.

With its core destroyed, Kaiser Ghidorah was out of power.

It could never move again.

The great space demon had died on Earth.

Slain by a beast of this planet.

And the one who killed it—

Was Godzilla.

The wounds, the samples retrieved by drones, everything proved it beyond a doubt.

But, Godzilla had not emerged unscathed.

From the sheer number of severed limbs left behind,
it was clear that Godzilla had paid a terrible price.

It had lost both arms.

Its primary and secondary dorsal fins.

A portion of its tail.

Now, it likely had nothing left but its head and its legs.

It was the weakest it had ever been.

And that meant, if humanity could find it now, and strike with nuclear weapons, then perhaps the nightmare that had plagued humanity for so long would finally end.

Thus, the hunt for Godzilla began.

Desperate, frantic, relentless—Humanity scoured the world.

They searched everywhere beyond Australia, convinced that Godzilla must have fled.

But they never imagined that Godzilla had never left.

Even now, it lay hidden, waiting in the shallow waters off Australia’s coast.

Because, even after slaying Kaiser Ghidorah, the real trouble was only about to begin.
