Volume 2 Chapter 89: Monster Planet (Part 1)
All fusion reactors had overloaded and melted. The surface-focusing crystals had completely melted. One of its arms was blown off from the shoulder, while only the upper portion of the other arm remained.
A quarter of its tail was destroyed, two-thirds of its dorsal heat-dissipating fins shattered, and a third of its fusion reactors were cracked by Kaiser Ghidorah...
"Severely wounded" was no longer an adequate description.
This is Godzilla's first battle after becoming Godzilla-Earth.
At the edge of the Australian seas, with the assistance of another natural consciousness, Godzilla quietly replenished its energy in seawater untouched by the Oxygen Destroyer, all the while reflecting on what needed improvement.
It had been too aggressive. If it had better control over the limits of its atomic breath at that moment, it might have been possible to take down that creature with a single shot.
After a period of combat, Godzilla clearly realized it was no match for Kaiser Ghidorah.
So, after being grabbed and lifted by Kaiser Ghidorah and executing that one attack, Godzilla dove underground at the cost of one arm.
Fortunately, it possessed the Earth-Wide Radar that allowed it to plot a route through geological fissures. Otherwise, the outcome could’ve been disastrous.
Once underground, Godzilla began accumulating energy for its breath attack.
After some calculations, it concluded—its standard 300 petawatt breath, as indicated on its panel, was not enough to kill Kaiser Ghidorah.
Thus, underground, Godzilla began computing.
It attempted to go further in design, to increase the maximum output of its breath and push it beyond the petawatt level—into the exawatt class.
Only sustained bombardment at exawatt levels could truly damage Kaiser Ghidorah.
It gathered enormous power underground, intending to raise its output to the exawatt level.
Even a single exawatt meant energy release exceeding 200 million tons of TNT per second.
Containing such immense energy for more than an instant was utterly impossible.
Only by igniting the fusion fuel at the last second and relying on inertia and magnetic fields to constrain the release momentarily could it be expelled in a controlled breath, boosting output to that level.
Underground, Godzilla successfully reached that power level and completed the process.
However, in the end, the breath’s power far exceeded its expectations.
The final ignition of the fusion fuel, even for a brief moment, proved too much to contain. Even when flung out by inertia, the recoil blew off Godzilla’s own head.
Moreover, due to the expansion of the flame, the breath was no longer a concentrated beam—it surged upward as a diffuse torrent, a pillar of light.
The breath, once ignited, exceeded 20 exawatts. Even Godzilla hadn’t foreseen such energy.
In a matter of seconds, the raging flame melted Kaiser Ghidorah’s three wings. Everything was consumed by the inferno, which surpassed 100,000 degrees in temperature, leaving only Kaiser Ghidorah’s core body intact.
It plummeted, eventually crashing into the source of the breath—facing the full brunt of the 20-exawatt blast.
Then came the explosion.
The explosion’s energy, in that moment, exceeded tens of billions. Even Kaiser Ghidorah and Godzilla were severely damaged by it.
After the breath attack, all four of Ghidorah's Wings and its forelimbs were blown off. It had taken the brunt of the catastrophic blast and crashed to the ground—only to resume battle against a headless Godzilla.
Although Godzilla emerged victorious, the price it paid was unprecedented.
Kaiser Ghidorah is the strongest enemy Godzilla has ever faced. Had it not been for Godzilla’s superior combat experience and its Earth-Wide Radar, it might have been defeated.
It had already lost nearly one-fifth of its tens-of-millions-ton body weight. To fully recover would take over ten days.
Even with a regenerative capacity of 500,000 tons per day, it would still take many days to fully heal.
And during those days… the real danger would arrive.
An even greater threat than the Ghidorah's Wings or even Kaiser Ghidorah itself. A danger that would truly turn this planet into a Monster Planet.
Outside of Australia, regions like Europe, Africa, North America, the Middle East, and East Asia would become playgrounds for monsters.
In the end, what kind of disasters would befall life on this planet?
Godzilla could no longer predict.
But there was one thing it did know—
It had to grow stronger. Only by becoming stronger could it face the battles to come.
Having killed ten Ghidorah's Wings and Kaiser Ghidorah, Godzilla completed several missions. Seeing the rewards and the time required for evolution, it began to evolve again.
…
The night ended. Morning came. A few hours earlier, the superstorm above East Asia had begun to weaken. It wouldn’t be long before everything returned to normal.
“Godzilla… killed Kaiser Ghidorah…”
On the screen, the drone feed showed the shattered corpse of Kaiser Ghidorah.
It lay lifeless on the ground, its three heads reduced to rubble, its wings and forelimbs completely gone.
Godzilla was the one who saved us in the end…?
In the operations command room, the staff were shaken. Kaiser Ghidorah had been immensely powerful—too powerful. Though it had only appeared in the world for a few hours, the destruction it caused nearly matched the total devastation the Ghidorah's Wings had wrought in an entire day.
And with the superstorm still raging, that total was only continuing to grow.
According to data from ground shelters, every coastal city in southern East Asia had been utterly obliterated by the super lightning storms brought on by Kaiser Ghidorah.
The land had been reshaped, cities returned to wilderness, railguns completely destroyed and rendered unusable.
Even just in terms of material destruction, it equaled—if not exceeded—what the Ghidorah's Wings had caused in one day.
Not to mention the countless lives it had taken.
If it hadn’t been stopped, the entire Eurasian and African land masses might have been re-sculpted within a week. Humanity would have vanished from the planet in no time.
And at that point, humanity had no way left to stop it.
Nuclear weapons, useless. Railguns, useless. Every weapon had failed.
And the one who saved humanity… was Godzilla?
It was… absurd.
And yet, undeniably true.
Just as undeniable, however, was this: Godzilla, now severely wounded, was also humanity’s best target.
If they could find and kill it now—they would succeed.
The original General had gone to rest. The new acting General was now in discussions with the Monster Combat forces about search operations over the coming days, and deployment of robots to construct temporary shelters.
Humanity was back on track. All they needed was a little more time.
And everything could start again.
But just then—
The power went out.
Crack
The real disaster… was only just beginning.
