Volume 2 Chapter 93: The Demon Star, Bilusaludo

The vast cosmos conceals existences far beyond human comprehension.

Far from Earth, far from the Sun, on the outskirts of the Solar System, within the Oort Cloud, something is approaching.

This entity is incomparably more terrifying than the one on Venus.

At the boundary between the inner and outer Oort Cloud, an abnormal cluster of comets drifts silently.

Despite the inner Oort Cloud being vastly smaller than the outer regions, its number of cometary nuclei surpasses the outer cloud by hundreds of times.

Within this region, there exist trillions of comets exceeding 1 kilometer in diameter adnd countless massive cometary clusters exceeding 10 kilometers in size.

Most of these comets have never left the inner Oort Cloud.

They have remained within this region for billions of years, since the very birth of the Solar System.

Now, ahead in the void, a peculiar sight appears.

A swarm of massive cometary nuclei, each exceeding 1 kilometer in diameter, drifts forward.

There are over ten thousand of them, separated by an average distance of only a few hundred thousand kilometers.

From this arrangement, it is evident that not long ago, they were all part of a single entity.

But for some reason, they have fractured into their current form.

Ordinarily, a 20-kilometer comet would not naturally shatter and disperse in such a manner.

The most likely explanation would be a collision between two comets, yet, the trajectory of these fragments suggests otherwise.

If this were the result of a cometary impact, their movement should be in a completely different direction.

And upon closer examination, a shocking revelation emerges—

These massive objects are not comets.

They are meteorites.

Iron meteorites.

Moreover, they are composed of pure iron, without a single trace of impurities.

Their purity exceeds even the finest metal that human technology could ever forge.

Their existence alone defies the entire framework of human science.

This is a mystery of unprecedented scale.

If humanity were capable of observing this phenomenon, it would shatter their entire understanding of astronomy and chemistry.

Modern scientific theories would have to be overturned, and it would take centuries before a new hypothesis could be formulated—one that might attempt to justify the existence of these objects.

Yet, even that hypothesis would be drastically different from the true reality.

Because the force that created them is an existence beyond human calculation.

Now, 20 astronomical units away from the shattered comets, the true culprit behind this celestial anomaly moves forward silently.

It is a heavenly body.

A mere 20 kilometers in diameter, it is not particularly large compared to the massive comets of the Oort Cloud.

And yet, it is utterly unique.

It far surpasses everything within the Oort Cloud.

No single entity, no entire collection of the Oort Cloud’s matter could ever compare to it.

Even if one were to combine the entire mass of the Oort Cloud with the blazing Sun itself, it still would not match this entity.

And Why?

Because it is Black.

The most absolute Black in this world.

The most absolute Density in existence.

As the dark celestial body advances, its unnatural phenomena spread throughout the Oort Cloud.

Ahead, a massive comet—over 20 kilometers in diameter—is on course to pass by this enigmatic object.

Though they are still separated by millions of kilometers, in the vastness of space, such a distance should mean nothing happens.

From the perspective of human science, there should be no interaction at all.

Yet, what occurs defies all human knowledge.

As the comet drifts within a million kilometers of the black celestial body, something impossible begins to unfold.

When the distance shrinks to precisely 1.32 million kilometers—

The comet twists.

Not by explosion.

Not by collision.

Not even by disintegration.

It vanishes and distorts.

As if an invisible hand of God had been waiting all along.

The moment it reaches the right position, the comet is stretched toward the black celestial body.

Its entire structure distorts upon the fabric of space-time.

Then—it inflates and tears apart.

Like a painting drawn on an unstretched balloon, when the balloon expands, so does the painting—

The comet is being stretched across space itself.

Every inch of its icy-rock mass is forcibly pulled apart.

In mere seconds, the 20-kilometer-wide comet fractures into dozens of pieces, scattered across the black celestial body's vicinity.

And then—something even more unbelievable occurs.

Some of the fragments begin to disintegrate at an accelerated rate.

Faster than the initial breakup, these pieces erode into cosmic dust within less than a second.

No crystal larger than a micrometer remains.

And yet—

Other fragments do the opposite.

They slow to a crawl.

Frozen in absolute stillness, as though time itself has been slowed by thousands of times.

The fragments hover, motionless.

Only through the most careful observation can one see them being imperceptibly stretched by an unseen force.

Space-time warps around the dark celestial body.

Expansion and contraction.

Acceleration and deceleration.

They happen simultaneously, within the same region.

And yet—this is still one of the simpler phenomena occurring here.

Because something even more chaotic is unfolding.

In some regions, matter spontaneously vanishes.

Right beside it, other regions see mass inexplicably increase, as if new matter is being created from nothing.

A patch of cosmic dust suddenly begins fusion reactions, despite being in the frigid vacuum of space, near absolute zero.

With no heat, no pressure, it should not be possible.

Yet it shines—a newborn light in the void.

Meanwhile, a cluster of ice-rock fragments undergoes quantum tunneling, randomly shifting their elemental composition and physical location.

And then—

Even the impossible takes form.

A shattered ice-rock piece scatters into a swarm of living beings.

Tiny, sentient ice-rock creatures take flight.

With wings of ice, they flutter through the empty void of space—

And they work.

Like a kaleidoscope, an endless cascade of bizarre, paradoxical phenomena unfolds around the black celestial body.

A simple comet, drawn into its influence, becomes an entire universe unto itself.

Yet, even universes have their end...

As time passes, the once raging matter is gradually pushed to the event horizon of the black celestial body.

Once more, they fall silent, piling at the edge of this dark abyss, awaiting their inevitable consumption.

Their remnants linger on the event horizon.

If left undisturbed, they would one day become part of its accretion once the celestial body has gathered enough light.

But how could such an unnatural entity not be full of surprises?

With yet another comet caught in its grasp, with more matter accumulating around it,

The black celestial body quietly changes its rotation speed.

An impossibility.

Natural celestial bodies must obey the law of conservation of angular momentum.

Without an external force, such a massive object should not be able to suddenly alter its spin.

And yet it does.

Like a singularity in the fabric of physics itself, it simply defies the laws of reality.

And there is no one who can deny it.

The effect spreads at the speed of light.

Instantly, the space-time around it shifts.

With this change in rotation, the previously trapped celestial debris is suddenly accelerated to impossible speeds.

From absolute stillness, they are flung away at 99% the speed of light.

Like a perfectly synchronized formation, they escape the event horizon—In mere seconds, they travel 1.32 million kilometers away.

No more warped space-time binds them.

No more distortion restrains them.

They are free.

And then, in the very moment of escape, their speeds plummet by an incomprehensible factor.

They return to the normal velocity of ordinary comets.

At the same time, every element within them undergoes instant nuclear fusion.

From light elements, they jump to their final stage—

Every single atom transforms into pure iron.

These comets are no longer comets, they have become iron stars.

A swarm of them moves in unison, marching forward in the same direction.

Just like the mystery created 20 astronomical units away, another puzzle is born.

Humanity could never conceive of the power that shaped them.

Nor could they imagine what had truly transpired before these rocks became cosmic enigmas.

But the black celestial body moves onward.

At one-tenth the speed of light, it advances toward the inner solar system.

It is coming.

The Demon Star is coming.

. . .

10 Astronomical Units from Earth—Saturn’s Orbit

A massive metallic sphere drifts in space, refueling its energy reserves.

Its surface, crafted entirely of metal, bears an uncanny resemblance to the Death Star of human science fiction.

Yet, this is no fiction.

A colossal alien mothership, 220 kilometers in diameter,

Missouria—the flagship of the Bilusaludo race.

In the command chamber of the Missouria, deep within the lifeless silence of the ship, Captain Muir Kurk stands alone.

His gaze fixed on the transport conduits, watching as they extracted fuel from the depths of Saturn’s atmosphere.

The vessel has a volume exceeding 5,000,000 cubic kilometers and a total mass of approximately 500 trillion tons. Designed to sustain 5 billion Bilusaludo people for 10,000 years according to the Earth calendar without the need for additional fuel.

Its maximum speed can reach 5% of the speed of light, and when all engines are fully operational, the peak total power output is close to 5 zettawatts.

It takes only ten Earth years to reach its designed speed, meeting the minimum requirements for interstellar travel.

Such a powerful generational starship—the interstellar vessel Missouria—is the pinnacle of Bilusaludo industry, the ultimate proof of their technological prowess.

However, even this testament to their strength is reaching its limit.

By Earth's calendar, the voyage has lasted more than 70,000 years, far beyond its original intent.

The initial expectation was that two to three thousand Earth years would be enough to establish a settlement in one of the candidate star systems.

But forget two to three thousand years, even after twenty or thirty thousand years, they still had not found a suitable planet…

Seventy thousand years is simply too long.

Even though the Bilusaludo have unlocked the secret to eternal life, achieving biological immortality, many still chose to end their nearly eternal existence, surrendering themselves to the embrace of the universe.

The Bilusaludo have no gods to rely on.

There is no heaven after death—only the vast, dark cosmos.

This is their last chance.

Muir knew it well.

The Missouria could not last another 20,000 years—no, even if it could, the Bilusaludo could not.

From the original 5 billion who set out, fewer than one-tenth remained. The other nine-tenths had perished by their own hands.

Time had dragged on too long.

They could grant themselves infinite biological longevity, but they could not give themselves the mental fortitude to match it.

How ironic.

The Bilusaludo had once proudly declared that reason would guide them. They had the audacity to forsake their home planet and transform their entire species—

And yet, their downfall came because their minds could not endure?

Whenever he thought about it, Muir couldn’t help but laugh. He simply could not think of a more absurd joke than this.

This planet would be their last chance.

Of the remaining 500 million Bilusaludo, fewer than 100 million had any real will to survive. And among them, only 15 million had a strong enough survival instinct to keep going.

If this attempt collapsed, if they were told they had to wait tens of thousands more years for another opportunity, then the Bilusaludo would meet their end here and now.

Their collective will could no longer withstand another test.

Before that cursed celestial body took notice of this world, they had to establish themselves here, even if only for a time.

But could they truly survive and thrive on that planet?

Muir clenched his hands tightly at the thought—so tightly that he punctured the silicone layer covering them, revealing the metal beneath.

The natural consciousness of that planet stood with its native inhabitants.

If it did not, Muir wouldn’t even need the humans’ consent. He could simply have the Missouria dock near Earth and dispatch drones to wipe them out.

Then, the Bilusaludo could take the planet with ease.

But if the natural consciousness was aligned with the natives…

Though it would not directly oppose them, it could choose to self-destruct—dragging the entire planet into chaos.

That would trigger a Titan Phenomenon, where the destruction of civilization would be attributed to the last survivors of the planet—

The Titan.

If that happened, everything would be for nothing.

Defeating a Titan powerful enough to destroy a civilization would require deploying the mothership. And while Muir was confident they would win, the battle would devastate the planet’s surface, rendering it uninhabitable.

All their efforts would be in vain.

Thus, they could not afford to antagonize the planet’s native intelligent species.

This was an enormous challenge.

To gain recognition from the indigenous intelligent life, they would have to wait—wait until those beings were left with no choice but to ask for aid.

Fortunately, the Bilusaludo had such an opportunity.

After many days of silence, the Bilusaludo infiltrators on Earth had finally sent the message Muir had been waiting for.

The humans of Earth were reaching their limits.
