Volume 2 Chapter 96: The End of Childhood (Part 2)

The ground was glowing?

No— it wasn’t the ground.

It was the sky!

Pressing his face against the glass and craning his neck upward, Serizawa Kosuke saw something beyond belief.

On the ground below, the protesters holding their signs had dropped them, standing still in shock.

People poured out of buildings, lifting their heads to gaze at the distant sky, at the source of the radiant glow.

“What the hell is happening?!”

As Yang Qi flung open the cabin door and rushed into the cockpit, he saw it immediately.

A massive sphere of light, dominating the entire city’s sky.

It pulsed rhythmically, almost as if it was speaking to the people below.

. . .

It wasn’t just this city.

Across East Asia—across the entire world—Hundreds of these colossal spheres of light floated motionless in the sky, radiating soft, iridescent colors.

No one knew when they had appeared. Even surveillance cameras only captured the sky gradually changing colors before coalescing into these supermassive orbs.

Compared to these celestial giants, the cities below seemed utterly insignificant.

Even humanity’s most awe-inspiring structures, its greatest marvels, paled in comparison to these glowing, star-like titans.

Each orb was enormous, spanning an area as vast as an entire metropolitan region. Every single one had a diameter exceeding ten kilometers.

Like colossal clouds, they drifted high above, watching over the world beneath them.

It didn’t matter where they appeared.

It didn’t matter which city they hovered over.

It didn’t matter what race or nationality the people below were.

At that moment, every single person on Earth turned their gaze skyward.

They all saw these towering, otherworldly entities, and they were all struck with the same overwhelming sense of awe.

Then, a wave of cheers erupted.

. . .

Even those with the most limited knowledge could tell that these shimmering spheres of light were not creations of nature.

Just look at their colossal size and solid form! Nothing in nature resembled them.

They were something out of a science fiction novel, or the wildest rumors of the unknown—

They were alien motherships.

Aliens.

Alien motherships.

The very thing the World United Government had warned about in the days before the arrival of Ghidorah’s wings.

It was true—aliens did exist!

And that meant the government was telling the truth all along!

There were benevolent extraterrestrial beings out there!

And now, they have come to save humanity!

This thought flooded the minds of everyone on the ground.

Cheers spread through the streets like wildfire.

The protesting crowds discarded their signs, transforming into a different kind of gathering—

A celebration.

A celebration of salvation.

The people of Earth stared up at the glowing spheres above, erupting in waves of joyous cries.

Their eyes shimmered with hope.

But while the masses rejoiced, the leaders of humanity were in a state of sheer panic.

Their concern wasn’t why aliens existed.

It was why these aliens had chosen this exact moment and this method to reveal themselves.

Why was this a problem?

Because long before today, they had already signed a contract with the Bilusaludo.

The World United Government had long since decided to allow the Bilusaludo to settle on Earth, but the agreed-upon method and timing were completely different from what was happening now!

Damn those Bilusaludo—

They had broken their promise!

They had revealed themselves to the world ahead of schedule!

The agreement had been clear: a single large spacecraft would land in one designated city for a formal introduction.

But now?

Instead of a controlled, diplomatic landing, colossal glowing clouds had suddenly appeared over every major city on Earth.

Those alien bastards—were they completely disregarding the agreement?!

On the third day after Kaiser Ghidorah was slain, the World United Government, having concluded that Godzilla could not be defeated by human means, ultimately decided to accept the Bilusaludo’s offer of aid.

Faced with the overwhelming might of Godzilla, they chose to accept the reality that they would have to share their homeworld with another intelligent species.

Following the Bilusaludo’s instructions, they adjusted their satellites, aligning them toward Saturn to transmit a designated signal on a specified frequency.

They had even informed the Bilusaludo of the territories they would be allocated upon arrival.

After hundreds of repeated transmissions, the Bilusaludo once again hijacked the devices surrounding key government officials, initiating a new round of negotiations to clarify details that had been vague in the initial agreements.

Through this exchange, humanity and the Bilusaludo engaged in another long-distance diplomatic discussion.

One of the key points of negotiation?

How the Bilusaludo would arrive on Earth.

The human representatives had explicitly requested that the Bilusaludo avoid an overwhelming, fear-inducing display of power.

They insisted that the alien motherships must not descend in an imposing, oppressive manner—hovering over cities like conquerors.

Such a show of force would only incite panic among the public and undermine the credibility of world governments.

And the Bilusaludo had agreed to this condition.

Yet now…

Not only had they arrived ten days earlier than scheduled, the entire manner of their arrival was completely different.

Why had they torn up an agreement that had been signed so recently?

What did they stand to gain from this betrayal?!

There was no time to ponder the reasons.

The only thing government officials knew was that the Bilusaludo had suddenly gone back on their word and had stationed their motherships over every major surviving city on Earth.

Was this a threat?

Were they demonstrating their ability to wipe out humanity in an instant, should they choose to?

Why?!

Why were they doing this?!

The World United Government was seething with rage, but there was nothing they could do.

They had no means to retaliate against the Bilusaludo for breaking their promise.

All they could do was sit in their seats and watch as these massive, ten-kilometer-wide luminous clouds hovered over every remaining human city, asserting their presence.

The iridescent clouds churned and shimmered, displaying their "beauty" and their power.

The people on the ground cheered.

The people in power despaired.

And then, at that exact moment, two voices spoke to humanity.

Outside the government chamber, the shimmering, seven-colored clouds spoke.

"We are wanderers from the far reaches of the universe, who have endured a long and arduous journey."

"This spectacle is not our doing. The Bilusaludo had no part in it."

Inside the government chamber, a Bilusaludo representative spoke.
