Volume 2 Chapter 67: Crushing the High-Speed Battleship!

BOOM ——————!!

The crocodile man’s fist collided with the ship’s ram.

A shockwave visible to the naked eye burst out from the point of impact.

Several meters of reinforced armor twisted and deformed under the force of that single punch.

It was like mountains collapsing, like the earth splitting apart.

The sound of the fist smashing against the battleship’s ram echoed across the wasteland.

Immediately after, a raging shockwave followed.

So close to the collision, Charles — whom Garde had tossed aside mid-run — was as tiny as an ant compared to the two colossal forces clashing before him.

Looking at the golden crocodile giant, whose form was nearly identical to Garde’s, Charles finally understood what Garde had wanted him to witness.

This Adakrys from the Sargon rainforests was no ordinary man.

He was a Feranmut, a transcendent being that people had once revered as gods centuries ago, and to this day, was still worshiped by tribes surviving in the wild!

Charles didn’t even know how to describe what he was feeling anymore.

If he had known, he wouldn’t have led two hundred men to capture such a monster!

But it was too late.

The clash between Garde and the battleship had already begun.

The shockwave from the collision between the golden fist and the ship’s ram made Charles' ears ring violently.

He was like a ragged sack, blown away by the compressed blast wave.

THUD!

The ground beneath their feet cracked and shattered into pieces.

The battleship’s ram was the sturdiest part of the entire vessel, even Garde’s full-force punch couldn’t completely punch through it, only managing to leave a visible dent in the armor.

But the sheer mass of the battleship, which is weighing hundreds of thousands of tons, makes the act of suddenly braking to a halt during high-speed movement creating a monstrous inertia.

This force didn’t just act on Garde.

It rebounded through the battleship’s immense body as well.

Many soldiers stationed inside the battleship lost control of their bodies and were slammed into walls.

Those positioned closer to the ship’s prow were even less fortunate, becoming casualties of this sudden battle.

War always claims lives.

The moment one picks up a weapon and steps onto the battlefield, no one is innocent anymore.

Even Garde didn’t think of himself as "the righteous side."

"What the hell just happened!?"

Inside the ship, Bernard’s furious voice rang out.

The command room was located toward the rear side of the ship, so the officers there weren't seriously harmed.

But inside the ship, it was a different story.

A high-speed battleship carried at least ten thousand elite Columbian soldiers.

In essence, each one was a small mobile fortress, its supplies could allow its crew to operate independently from mobile cities for months.

Normally, before a battleship rammed into a city, early warnings would be issued.

Soldiers stationed toward the bow would withdraw to safer areas to avoid the shock of impact.

But this? No one had anticipated this.

A golden crocodile giant over a hundred meters tall stood with feet planted firmly on the ground.

Its thick, powerful tail lashed through the air, whipping up storm-like vortices with just a flick.

Every muscle on the crocodile man’s body was sharply defined.

The near-perfect muscle lines were an embodiment of violent beauty.

Even steel structures paled into insignificance before him.

“What the hell is that!?”

Staring at the golden crocodile giant holding back the battleship with his bare hands, one of the soldiers in the control room muttered in disbelief.

But Bernard, a commander who had weathered countless storms, forced himself to calm down within a few breaths.

"No matter what he is," Bernard said coldly, "he attacked our battleship. He is now our enemy."

"Prepare the main cannons!"

"Full speed ahead! Ram him aside!"

The moment the orders were given, the soldiers in the command room snapped to action, like people who had suddenly found their backbone again.

Obeying orders is a soldier's duty.

No matter what stood before them, If it was a mountain, they would shatter it. If it was an enemy, they would destroy him!

The treads supporting the battleship’s movement had not been damaged by the forced braking.

Under the power of the Originium engines, they started to turn again, trying to push Garde away by force.

VMMM!

The battleship’s Originium engine kept churning.

It began pushing Garde forward.

The ground beneath his feet couldn’t provide enough friction to resist the force.

Under the immense pressure, the earth crumbled like brittle tofu, collapsing and breaking apart, and Garde’s legs carved two deep trenches across the wasteland as he was pushed back.

The impact force — weighing hundreds of thousands of tons — was relentless.

Even Garde, operating at full Ascension Power, struggled to endure it.

But he didn’t plan on retreating.

There were many ways to destroy a high-speed battleship.

If Garde had his axe with him, and enough time, he wouldn't even need to use his Ascension Power to demolish it.

No matter how thick the armor, the inside was always fragile.

A high-speed battleship could unleash apocalyptic destruction against organized armies, but if someone infiltrated inside, just one Originium bomb planted in the engine room could paralyze the whole vessel.

Such things were nearly impossible elsewhere.

But for Garde, charging into the interior of a battleship wasn’t nearly as difficult as others would imagine.

Still, where was the fun in that?

BOOM! BOOM!

On the battleship’s deck, dozens of cannons turned toward Garde.

Shells capable of threatening the walls of a mobile city rained down on him, yet they didn’t even leave a scratch.

“Useless!”

Garde shouted, hugging the battleship’s ram tightly.

"If you want to hurt me, you’ll have to hit me much harder!"

Attacks like this couldn't kill him even in his normal state, let alone now, with his body filled with the power of Ascension.

“Columbians!”

Without his trusty axe, Garde could only open his own mouth wide.

"My teeth can tear through steel!"

In utter disbelief, the soldiers aboard the battleship watched as the crocodile man opened his jaws and bit down on the ship’s deck.

With a single bite, a massive gap over a dozen meters wide was ripped open in the deck.

Beneath it, panicked soldiers could be seen fleeing in terror.

No need for fancy tricks.

Following the opening he tore through the ship’s "flesh," Garde clenched his fist and slammed it down.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Layer after layer, the internal partitions of the battleship, compared to its external armor, were as fragile as paper.

Inside the command room, the ship’s structure lit up with growing red alerts across the displays.

Bernard's heart twisted painfully in his chest.

This was his battleship.

This was his lifeblood.

Where the hell did this monster come from?

What had he done to deserve this!?

Suddenly, through the ship's external cameras, Bernard noticed a trembling figure out on the wasteland.

He had noticed him earlier.

"That man... that's Charles?"

He remembered.

Just yesterday, Charles had come to him, borrowing five whole squads of powered exoskeleton units, all to deal with a single Adakrys.

Wait–! Adakrys!?

Seeing the golden giant, crocodile man wreaking havoc under the battleship’s cannons, Bernard suddenly felt suffocated.

At last, he understood why his ship was under attack.

'I need to save my battleship!'

Bernard didn’t hesitate.

He grabbed a nearby controller by the collar and shouted, pointing at Garde outside:

"Get on the broadcast now and announce our surrender!"

Looking at the battleship, being gnawed and bitten like a helpless little maiden under the crocodile man’s onslaught, Bernard couldn't stop his tears from flowing.

'My battleship!!'
