Volume 2 Chapter 116: Destoroyah – Fusion

"All areas have been searched, no trace of the escaped specimen found."

Drones patrolled the underground research facility. The newly dispatched combat units found no signs of life in this subterranean world.

Less than an hour ago, Destoroyah had been rampaging through this place, but now it was as if it had never existed. No trace of it could be found in any part of the underground facility.

Only the remains of the corpses it had devoured were left behind. Destoroyah itself had completely vanished without a trace.

Most of the electronic surveillance equipment inside the research facility had been destroyed by it. This terrifying beast was not only powerful but also possessed exceptionally high intelligence.

Though its current whereabouts were unknown, anticipating potential threats, the emergency squads had requested heavy weaponry designed to deal with large units and had established a defensive perimeter around the elevator shaft.

Heavy machine cannons capable of piercing tank armor.

Flamethrowers loaded with the latest incendiary agents.

Air filtration systems designed to isolate and remove any Destoroyah spores.

Temporary anti-tank mines and explosive charges installed at key street intersections.

In just a few minutes, they transformed the elevator entrance into a military fortress, prepared to repel any approaching threat.

Drones, mechanical hounds, and other mechanical devices began tracking the scent Destoroyah had left behind—its saliva that had dripped during feeding served as clues to its location.

The entire squad coordinated the machinery to follow the trail, eventually discovering something inside the surveillance room.

"What is that..."

The robots dismantled the surveillance room ceiling, revealing what was hidden above.

A keratinous shell had formed into an oval shape on the ceiling. It looked like an egg... a gigantic insect egg.

It seemed to pulsate slowly, as if something inside was struggling to emerge.

Whatever was inside, it was an existence filled with evil, blasphemy, and death.

A true aberration in this world.

. . .

Boom!

The sturdy alloy door was struck by a massive force. It only held for an instant before being ripped off and flung across the room.

Bang

The door smashed into two researchers who didn’t even have time to scream. They were hit head-on, then hurled into the wall behind them.

Their bodies exploded on impact, instantly reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.

Warm, wet blood mixed with shattered organs splattered across every corner of the room.

The remaining people in the room froze in fear. They let out meaningless, terror-stricken howls, their eyes wide with horror as they stared toward the direction from which the door had flown—the direction where the demon stood.

Everyone present simultaneously squeezed their triggers, firing in unison at that spot, desperately trying to tear the creature apart.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!!!!

Tat tat tat tat tat tat tat——————

Bullets tore through the dust and smoke, slamming into the creature. The firepower, enough to blow apart a wall, had only a negligible effect on it. It endured the gunfire without advancing further, patiently waiting for the smoke to clear.

Clink clink clink... clink... clink... clink...

The sound of spent bullet casings hitting the ground ceased. No matter how hard the people in the room pulled their triggers, no more muzzle flashes appeared.

They were out of bullets.

Every round had been fired into the monster.

But it hadn't mattered.

As the smoke cleared, the people saw what lay behind the door.

It was still alive. Completely unscathed.

They couldn't believe it.

According to their plan, relying on the terrain, they had thought that at the very least, their firepower would cause Destoroyah some trouble.

But in reality...

Not even a scratch was left.

The monster, licking its scythe-like arms, looked at the prey before it. Just now, it had tested its body's resistance against the weapons of these prey.

And it was very satisfied with the results of the test.

Ka-tsi-tsi-tsi—

Its joints made strange sounds. Its compound eyes stared at the petrified prey, and at that moment, its body erupted with a strength and speed beyond human comprehension.

Rip—

It sounded like the starting gun of a race.

The sound of human bodies being torn apart became the signal for the panicked stampede.

They could no longer stay calm, no longer face that thing here.

Everyone frantically fled outward, but their speed was far from enough to escape the grim reaper chasing behind them.

The scythe cleaved through body after body, flesh and blood splattering throughout the surveillance room.

Nothing could stop it. The severed remains of bodies were scattered all around the room.

People tried to run, but even the fastest of them only managed to touch the outside for a brief moment.

Then they were sliced apart by a flash of black light.

Bathed in blood, the visitor from another world gazed at the floor covered with food, emitting an ultrasonic sound inaudible to humans. Then, it destroyed all the surveillance equipment within the room.

The sound wave echoed underground, reaching the ears of every feeding Destoroyah.

Upon hearing it, they all abandoned their current prey and converged toward the same direction.

In the corridors where surveillance had been destroyed, a swarm of Destoroyahs gathered, numbering in the thousands, tens of thousands, and possibly even more, surging toward the surveillance room through the broken passages.

After devouring nearly a hundred people, they flooded into the room in waves, lifting the dozens of human corpses and delivering them to the largest Destoroyah.

Then, this swarm, carrying the corpses and the giant Destoroyah, broke through the ceiling of the surveillance room, digging a passage extending over ten meters upward.

Their bodies condensed deep within the tunnel, beginning to merge. Meanwhile, a portion of the swarm worked to repair the ceiling of the surveillance room to avoid human detection.

The dozens of corpses were brought up into the ceiling, where countless tiny Destoroyahs devoured and decomposed the flesh, turning it into new Destoroyahs.

After repairing the ceiling, the outer layer of the Destoroyah swarm began to merge, forming a cocoon. Within this cocoon, something utterly terrifying to this world was being nurtured.

Thump, thump, thump

The sound of a heartbeat merged with the trembling of the ground. A new life, using human corpses as nourishment, was being born.

When it breaks free from its shell, another massacre will begin.
