Volume 2 Chapter 118: Revelation
“You’re saying it’s true? They really found Godzilla?”
South America, New Eden World United Government Parliamentary Leader’s Office.
Ludwig tapped his fingers on the desk, listening to the message coming through the phone, his mind lost in thought.
“Yes, sir. Those Exif people say that with the help of the Exif God, they have already found Godzilla’s location. They are certain that Godzilla is undergoing evolution, and the site of that evolution is beneath the strata of the Australian new ecosystem.”
“The Exif envoy stated that if we want, they can provide detailed coordinates of where Godzilla is dormant at any time. Sir… what should we do about this?”
The voice of Defense Minister Kalman on the phone sounded conflicted.
The detailed location of Godzilla… Although it’s unclear how the Exif know this information, or why they’re bringing it up now, there’s no doubt this news is extremely important for humanity.
Although the Bilusaludo have claimed they will help humans deal with Godzilla, that’s something they’ll only do once their mothership arrives. According to observations by the European Space Agency, the Bilusaludo mothership is still in Saturn’s orbit and has yet to make a move.
Even if it starts heading for Earth, it would still take more than ten days—maybe longer—factoring in deceleration. In that time, if Godzilla awakens… and attacks other human regions again…
That would be a catastrophic disaster for humanity.
After all, humanity currently has no weapons capable of confronting Godzilla. Even though they’ve just acquired alien technology, it’s impossible to fully analyze and implement that tech within a few days.
Right now… when Godzilla has only recently defeated Kaiser Ghidorah and fallen into slumber… when his body hasn’t fully recovered yet…
Isn’t this the best opportunity to defeat him?
But why are the Exif offering this information at this particular moment—what do they want in return?
Ludwig couldn’t quite figure out the intentions of that Exif ambassador who called himself Metphies. If he were in his shoes, even if he knew Godzilla’s location, he definitely wouldn’t reveal it.
Because to a certain extent, letting humans handle Godzilla themselves could be seen as a slight against the Bilusaludo, who had signed a cooperation agreement. Haven’t they thought about that?
But regardless, their intentions are one thing, and the message itself is another. Whatever they're planning, it’s beyond humanity’s current ability to understand or stop. From the moment the Monster phenomena appeared on this planet, humanity had already lost control over its own fate.
With that thought, Ludwig spoke into the phone:
“Then agree to it. On this matter, I believe we can trust our ally. Also, notify the military to assemble a reliable force and prepare for the coming battle.”
No matter what, eliminating Godzilla is the single most important thing for humanity right now—no question. If humans can kill him with their own hands, it would significantly help with postwar unity and morale.
It would also help with his votes.
Letting the Bilusaludo kill Godzilla would never compare to humanity doing it themselves. To strike him down while he’s still wounded would be the best outcome.
Even in the worst-case scenario, even if humanity doesn’t want to kill Godzilla, simply using the coordinates to monitor his every move would still be extremely valuable. If one day he tries to leave Australia and attack other cities, then at least there would be enough time for evacuation, right?
“I understand, Parliamentary Leader. I’ll convey your decision to Lord Metphies and the commanders… Also, one more thing… Parliamentary Leader… Today, the European Rift Laboratory no longer exists.”
On the other end of the phone, Global Defense Minister Kalman agreed to the first matter. Then he dropped another bombshell.
The European Rift Laboratory is no more.
As the President of the World United Government Council, Ludwig naturally understood what those words truly meant. It meant that the underground laboratory had been completely detonated—everything inside had vanished in the nuclear blaze.
This was originally the final contingency when the laboratory was constructed. Now that it had been triggered, it could only mean that something terrible had happened again in Europe.
‘What a headache.’
Rubbing his temples, he asked in a deep voice:
“Kalman, tell me in detail—what exactly happened there…”
“Yes, sir. Here’s what happened—”
Over the phone, Kalman carefully recounted everything that had occurred that day.
…
Europe – Cambridge Molecular Biology Laboratory
Inside a completely sealed laboratory, a technician in a full hazmat suit was guiding another similarly suited individual through various advanced pieces of equipment, explaining the nature of their research one item at a time.
After more than an hour of touring and explanations, they exited the sealed lab, entered the changing room to remove their hazmat suits, changed into standard clothing, and walked toward the office area.
The leading Caucasian man seemed quite enthusiastic. He turned to the East Asian man behind him and said:
“Mr. Serizawa, that’s where we analyze the Class I hazardous materials. The most advanced biological lab currently on this planet. We call it Eureka. What I’m about to say may sound arrogant, but it’s the truth.”
“If humanity ever has a hope of defeating those monsters on its own, the only chance lies here—in this laboratory.”
“I sincerely invite you to join our team, to help rejuvenate the future of humanity. Just like your brother did—become a hero for mankind and join us?”
He was extending an invitation to the man behind him—Serizawa, who had just left East Asia—to join the lab.
Serizawa, meanwhile, recalled everything he had just seen within Eureka…
Was this really the right thing?
“You don’t need to hesitate. Your recent paper, in our view—”
Just as the man kept chattering on, another man approached them from ahead. When he spotted the two, he walked over with a big smile and said:
“Serizawa, have you finished the tour? So, what do you think? Are you tempted to join us?”
As he spoke, he reached the pair. The talkative Caucasian male immediately fell silent upon seeing him and respectfully greeted:
“Hello, Mr. Yang.”
This “Mr. Yang” was none other than Yang Qi—the molecular biologist Serizawa had previously met on the plane from East Asia. Yang nodded to acknowledge the greeting, then resumed speaking with Serizawa.
“Give me an answer, Brother Serizawa! Will you join us? Help humanity’s future?”
That line seemed to strike a chord in Serizawa’s mind, stirring up a lingering doubt. He hesitated and countered:
“Mr. Yang… is this really for the good of humanity?”
Were the things he saw truly for the future of mankind?
Upon hearing this, Yang Qi looked slightly surprised. Then, with a mysterious air, he leaned in close to Serizawa’s ear and said:
“Then come to my office. I’ll show you something that will definitely answer all your questions.”
With that, he suddenly gave Serizawa a firm pat on the back and laughed heartily:
“Don’t worry. Everything we’re doing now is for humanity, Brother Serizawa.”
“And besides… everything here is built upon your research, Serizawa-kun.”
