Volume 2 Chapter 120: Godzilla Appears Again!
"This plan is really bold. With a weapon of this magnitude, if it's used on Australia, the entire southern part of the country would be blown sky-high..."
"But it's also a necessary measure to defeat Godzilla. What did the Australians say? Did they agree?"
"What else could they say? Given the current situation, could they really say no?"
"True enough."
"If that thing actually detonates, will people even be able to live in Australia afterward?"
"Probably. I heard the radiation isn't too bad. As long as you wait for the shockwave to pass, people should be able to live there again."
"Sigh... I just don't get why the higher-ups are so insistent on taking down Godzilla now. Weren't the aliens supposed to help us? Wouldn't it be better to let them deal with it once they arrive? Seriously..."
"The higher-ups must have their own reasons. It's not like we have a say in it. Let's just do our jobs. Whether it works or not, it's got nothing to do with us."
"Yeah, you're right."
Dong. Dong. Dong…
It really is bold... But I can’t deny, it’s dangerous for me as well. Even if I can dodge it… those little ones probably can't... I must make preparations in advance.
I had considered what weapons they might use against me, but I didn’t expect... that they’re not just targeting me... No, I should have expected it. To humans, this is only natural.
To stop this from happening, I have to act first.
This is no time to rest.
BOOM—
BOOM BOOM—
BOOM BOOM BOOM—
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE—
Like a mountain collapsing, like thunder rolling, like stars falling from the heavens.
Massive tremors spread underground in waves. Meanwhile, on the coastline enclosed by towering mountains, countless new lifeforms felt the vibrations from below.
“Chirp chirp chirp!!!”
Crackle crackle~
“ROAR!”
Creatures on the beaches and in the forests became agitated by the tremors. Some, like birds but clad in metallic shells, formed formations and flew high into the sky.
Crustaceans resembling a mix of crabs and ants scurried out of their burrows and rushed outward. Though the exact situation within the forest couldn't be seen, the shaking treetops and fleeing animals glimpsed through gaps made it clear.
BOOM!!!
A massive tail burst through the surface, its pitch-black body half emerging into the sky while the other half remained buried in the depths.
Godzilla.
Its newly regenerated head looked toward the sky, seemingly aware of the human satellites in orbit watching its every move. But it didn't care.
One massive claw stretched from the unseen depths and gripped an overturned mountain. The other hand pressed against the ground. The pressure of tens of millions of tons crushed into the mountain and earth, tearing hundred-meter-long fissures across the land.
After using its arms to lift its body, it seemed to pause—yet this was only a façade. It was gathering strength, ready for the next moment—when its full body would launch into action.
BOOM BOOM BOOM—KRAK!!!
The 600-meter-tall, 40,000-ton colossal beast unleashed unimaginable force. Its hands and feet struck the ground in unison, launching this mountain-like super-creature out of a nearly 700-meter-deep pit—soaring straight into the air!
The entire body burst forth from the pit as Godzilla launched itself into the air. In an instant, the ground where its hands had been bracing crumbled apart. The land within several dozen kilometers trembled violently, as if a nuclear bomb had detonated underground. The earth rippled like waves, causing entire mountain ranges to sway.
BOOM!!!!
Another thunderous explosion echoed. Finally—at this moment—Godzilla’s colossal form was fully revealed above ground. This beast, far beyond human imagination, now boldly displayed its full presence before mankind.
Before the battle with Ghidorah, Godzilla had strengthened its body through self-initiated evolution. Even without factoring in its newly evolved breath weapon, it was already far stronger than when it first became Godzilla-Earth.
Had it still been in peak condition, Godzilla was confident it could charge forth now and wipe out all of humanity within seven days.
Unfortunately, that was no longer the case—and beyond Australia, the endless, deathly white mist still shrouded the oceans.
"Yaaaaarghhhh——"
From afar, as Godzilla awakened, a somewhat youthful roar echoed through the mountains to reach its ears.
(Mama… are you awake…?)
(Yes.)
(While you were asleep, I protected our home! Everything is fine!)
(Good.)
(So… what are you going to do next, Mama? If you’re going to destroy the humans… can I come with you?)
(What I’m going to do next... is something very important. Child, now I need you to...)
…
Looking up at the sky, Godzilla began to move—slowly—leaving the ecosystem it had created behind.
Having already arranged for its child’s role in what was to come, Godzilla ran a deep, internal calculation of humanity’s strategy. With its extraordinary intellect, it rapidly filtered through hundreds—thousands—of scenarios in its mind and finally identified the optimal counterstrike location.
Head there.
The moving mountain slightly adjusted its path. Its pace wasn’t fast—slower than most cars on a highway. That was the downside of such an enormous body; walking too quickly would generate shockwaves capable of destroying the carefully balanced ecosystem it had worked so hard to build.
Even now, the effects of its movement weren’t too severe. But once its weight increased further, even walking slowly would become impossible. The ground beneath it wouldn’t be able to support it—each step would be like a human stepping into a swamp, sinking instantly.
But for now, that wasn’t a concern.
"RAAAWR——!"
After walking for several hours, Godzilla finally crossed out of its ecosystem. It made no effort to hide its path—its movements were clearly visible to human satellites.
However, exposing its path did not mean exposing everything. Moisture gathered in the atmosphere, and above its ecosystem, a thick raincloud layer formed. Godzilla, wielding the powers it had gained as Godzilla-Earth, raised a wall of rain above southern Australia—one that could not be seen through from orbit.
This would prevent humans from using satellite-based strikes to launch a nuclear attack on its home once it left.
Nature itself, under Godzilla's command, shielded its domain from human eyes. Meanwhile, the creature stepped steadily toward the desolate heart of Australia.
There, Godzilla lifted its head to gaze at a single point in the sky.
And at that same point, a satellite turned—its lens locking eyes with Godzilla.
The war was about to begin.
