It's been a while since I've done an image render. Apparently a year lol. If you scroll to the depths of my twitter you can find that I have done images before. I stopped for a number of reasons but never was against going back to them. The main reason was that I believed they didn't look good.
I felt that my animations could atleast carry more weight due to the fact that they were animated but at that time I didn't think any of my visuals were good. I've gotten much better since then but still got a ways to go.
Let me know if you guys wanna see more. I might try to incorporate some every now if you guys like em.
**Tech Notes**
Cycles
I took longer than I planned for this but think in the end I learned quite a bit. I've been doing alot of learning over the weekend in general which has been productive. For this pic, I rendered it in Cycles but since Cycles was moving so slow I actually did most of the lighting in Eevee and planned to complete it there but I switched back to Cycles, edited it again, and was able to push through and get to work in that. It was pretty intensive with the map and 3 models. For images there is really no reason not to use Cycles unless you really can't handle it.
Post Proccessing
Post processing is becoming a bigger part of my work flow as I'm starting to edit much more consistently. I use Davinci Resolve which is a video editor but works for images as well. I added some overlay images of dust and smoke just to get some small visuals pasted over top and added many manipulations to the coloring using Davinci's 'color' tab'. Added small vignette on the edges, did general color corrections and I know that this specific information doesn't mean alot to you guys but something that I did quite a bit that I came to like, is to isolate certain spots such as the sweat or bright spots and added alot to the "Midtone Details" which is sort of the same or similar to editing the "sharpness". It gave those spots some (in my opinion) nice looking detailed sweat/shiny spots.
