Dakota Scrapped/BtwnTakes #3 + Ch6 chat (Band Tier) (Patreon)

Hello! I remain terrible at being consistent with devlogs. I feel like it has to do with the fact that my days are very similar. There’s very rarely ever a change.

I managed to rewrite the third Between Takes scene and it's 10k words! Ack. Anything 10k+ and over takes a while, which was why I was so upset for overwriting it earlier. Things like this month's G POV which was 17k words can easily take me nearly two weeks, which takes up a lot of time when you account for the demo and the other things for patreon. People think I'm a fast writer but that's usually the case with anything 5K and under lmao. Once we start nearing double digits my writing stamina decreases significantly.

Anyway, I'm really hoping people are liking this little series! It's one of the few things that I came to me without any suggestion from anyone else and I think that's for a reason. There are so many chess pieces that I have to account for that I give myself a lot of pressure to write things I know fit into the fabric of the story. The Between Takes series is just…meaningless (for lack of better word) stuff that doesn't have a million threads I need to worry about when writing. It's just fun. It's Infamous without the angst and the drama and plotlines and it's just them existing. Which I really like.

I've also posted a scene with Dakota that was supposed to happen at the club. It's brief and while I do like it, it felt a little redundant. Dakota's limited page time in chapter 5 is on purpose, and there's a very specific reason for it. That's why I scrapped this scene, which was originally less a scene and a lot of different pieces floating around that I put together. Dakota was actually supposed to have a bar scene but I never got around to writing it because I knew it wouldn't make it anyway. 💔

Chapter Six has been going very well. It's already proving to be very different, because it starts with the most unexpected character! Can you guess who? Hint: it's a SubRO and it's not Blake heh. I think that alone is pretty exciting to me. I love all the "main" characters, but being able to write with different people really makes it feel fresh.

I'm excited to write the aftermath of everything that happened with in Chapter 5. It's such a meaningful chapter so I'm being careful with this one! Even though this one is going to dial up the angst factor that Chapter 5 was missing (aside from the end I suppose!) there's still a lot of lighthearted moments that make me giggle.

Because it makes the angst so much better!

Wonder who that could be. Anyway! Some Chapter 6 stuff for ya :) This chapter is a lot but as usual I'm having a good time writing it.
