All the steam looks a bit cartoony, but we're just experimenting with what types of ambient animations could be added to certain backgrounds. What do you think?

Hush Hush Steam Animation Rough

This is a bit overkill on the animation, but we were trying out some stuff to see how many ambient effects we would want in a scene. I love this alley background by the way :) It's so cool!!

Not to be overly critical, but the flies (at least I'm assuming they're flies) don't feel like they belong with the steam and the.... uh, the poo gas. It's like they're moving at different rates and it's messing with me.

lol!! I totally agree. I think this was just to test some of the most extreme cases of having tons of ambient background animations. I will tone them down quite a bit in the final thing :)

Cool, it's a relief to know I'm not crazy. Also, you remarked about the steam looking cartoony, which isn't off the mark. But it would work in a mixed aesthetic, like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, or....uh.... Cool World. (Might want to aim to be more like the former if you go that route.)
