Hey! I need your help with this one :D

I've got some early concept designs for Q-Piddy - yessss - she will be the final girl! So it's not happening until later this year but I would love to collaborate with you all to get her look down right. This character is for you guys <3

Forgive the really rough sketches; I hope they make sense. I'll pull in more motifs and colors from her chibi design, so don't let the scribbly black and whiteness detour you. The main thing to consider with her design is AGE. It's tough converting a super tiny fairy character into a human without falling into that too-young look so many anime do. I'd like to avoid that if possible to avoid making people uncomfortable if she looks too underage. So my vote is leaning on the more elegant Greek goddess/Aphrodite type on the far left. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

Which do you prefer - A, B, C, or D? Or NONE!! >.<

I'd go B. She looks like a character from "Oh my Goddess!"

William Sykes

hmm A and B are both pretty good, or maybe something in-between the two?

Lorok

B and D speak to me.

Ryan Hancock

Holy crap, go A. That design looks SICK. You're just like, oh look at this little fairy helping me, and then she's like "Bam, I was super hot the whole time!" And you're like, whoa, and she's like "Oh, this stupid form? You like this?"

Bård

I think A and B are pretty nice, although i don't really see A in the the game O.o but feel like B would fit better :) Just my thought ^^

Personally, I vote C. Q-piddy is clearly a take on Cupid. Now, not to say you have to stick with what's been done before, but many of these designs are way more intricate than any of the other character designs in the game, and I think many of these might feel a bit out of place. Second, Q-piddy and Pamu have some sort of history, seeing how at one point Pamu states something about a war with Q-piddy. It kind of makes sense that they're similar in stature since Pamu is also some sort of being that lives a long time (not really sure about deity). Does Q-piddy fit this description as well? I'd say that since Pamu has a slightly younger and more carefree appearance, then Q-piddy could as well. Their rivalry (if you choose to stick with that, it would seem sort of weird to mention it once and then not do anything with it) would make more sense if they're both somehow this "fairy" style and/or characteristic size. Pamu does seem like a younger but still mature character design and she seems smaller than most of the other characters. To me it seems that Q-piddy and Pamu are kind of like opposites, with Pamu being the lover-obsessed, naughty side, and Q-piddy being the thoughtful, devoted side, which I think fits design C pretty well (she's not going for the clearly sexy style evident in the other three designs). A and B don't really fit the "fairy" vibe, and I get that you're kind of seeming to want to move away from that in "turning" her human as per your description because fairies typically appear younger in age, but it seems that she's not really retaining any of what made her a fairy and she's just turning into a goddess with skimpy clothing instead. I dunno, just some thoughts on it. Maybe I'm going in the wrong direction (maybe this is reading too deep into the tiny amount of conversation in the game?). There's really only one link between Pamu and Q-piddy in that line of dialogue, so it's not like there's much to go off of (and who said you _had_ to go off of anything, I suppose), but I like the idea of some sort of interaction between the characters that's meaningful instead of just random things happening with each character. Maybe that's what the VN will be for? =|

Bucket

I'd say C. It matches the other girls artwork more than A and B. D is also another option that could work.

Kaluth

I think B is the way to go, or maybe a mix of A and B. But the lewd perv in me says D... Don't judge me, dfc :D

SadPandaStudios

These are all really great suggestions/comments!! Thanks everyone; keep 'em coming ;D

BeCrazed

i like the look of C but is she really four inches tall? 4"

Also it makes me happy that the first post of Q-Piddy has so much discussion. -w- Usually everyone TOTALLY forgets about her; even a certain Morgo person didn't give her wallpaper back in the day! ; ;

I love B, but I'm with Jacob reminds me of oh my goddess a little too much. Peorth was my favorite character from the series. I like A it's quite different from the other girls in the game. Although C short and spunky is a nice change as well but the idea makes me think of Kyu from HuniePop, not that is a bad a thing.

Jason Isbell

Wow, Q-piddy discussion really blew up! I also love Rob's idea of changing her appearance according to her relationshiop level. Maybe start as Fairy, and then once Friend Zoned, change to "D" style (or maybe something in between C and D), then when you reach Lover Level, "A" form could be her final and true form, sort of like Bearverly. That would be your reward for sticking with her. I'm really liking her minimal outfit, too! @_@ I personally like A and D. Either would be fine with me if you go with a single form. I like D's adult stance/look even though she's short like some of the Gems (like you mentioned Peridot). That could really work. I really think a style close to A would be perfect, too, if you go for a taller, true adult look for her. And if you go A, I'm really liking the smaller chest for her. This really makes you think she could've been a fairy in her previous form. I don't think Q-piddy in human form with a super huge chest, even one the size of Pamu's, would work very well. There are already so many well endowed girls in the game, why not make Q-piddy unique. It looks like that's where you were going already. It helps bring out her cuteness that way, in my opinion. B reminds me of "Ah, My Goddess" or something, maybe a little too elegant, plus she's too endowed to be a fairy, I think. Good image, though, just doesn't work well for Q-piddy C is too chibi, I think for the game, and enters into that too young look you were trying to avoid. Nice art, though. It almost looks like a rough sketch of her original fairy form before you finalized her in-game version.

Maybe that Morgo person, with the fun to listen to voice, will take pity on us Q-piddy lovers and make us some wallpapers, similar to the other girls, in clothed, and not so clothed versions, once her final form is released in game. "A" version would look awesome for this, btw. (poke, poke, hint, hint)

Maybe start with the Original form, transform to C and last to B/A --- Original -> D -> B or A is not easy to vote xD. Now finally i vote A.

You know, the more I think about it and look at the choices and the description of this, the more I feel like there's a real disconnect between the left two choices and the right two choices. I don't think it's something I can readily convey in a message here because I think it would be far too long. In short, there's too big of a discrepancy between designs and the whole "underage" dilemma doesn't hold water in a game where you have a 10000+ year old girl who clearly looks underage but everyone else who "looks" older is not a day over 30. If you put Fumi ( a fairly mature design, realistically, and also not the oldest, nor even the oldest "looking" character) and Pamu side by side and asked people to point out the "younger character" (or older, doesn't matter), I think we all know who would get the votes, buuuuut psych, they're all wrong. I think this whole thing should be taken off the table, have some character traits thoroughly reviewed, have those traits all established in each of the designs (clearly you want an older look for her or something) before -actually putting out designs- instead of having them so different, and -then- have people vote on them. Half of the designs you posted (the right side) already violate the characteristics you clearly think the character should have (or not have), and by stating that you want to avoid the character "looking too underage" you've effectively told people you don't really think C or D should even be in the mix and the process is already biased before the votes even happen. Once again, this goes back to the persona and traits of the character before the design process even happens. If you want to avoid the character appearing "too" underage, then don't bother putting designs in where she looks that way, plain and simple. The wording here is very poor, appearing too underage means it would still be acceptable to look underage, but not -too- underage. The emphasis you're implying in your description above is sort of misleading because the written inflection makes it sound like you're okay with her being underage as long as she doesn't look it. The designs should all be looking like A and B if you want to stay clear of that. To be completely honest, I don't think it's a good idea to even turn Q-piddy into an in-game character. Maybe that's just me, but if the design has to change that radically, then why are we even calling her Q-piddy? May as well just say it's a different girl altogether and she's of the same race/background/deity/classification as Q-piddy or something. I dunno, I'm rambling now, but this whole thing just seems not right in the current state/iteration.

(Ugh I end up writing an essay every time ;¬_¬) Look, the main reason I came back to this was because this game has something that no other clicker game really has at the moment, and that's actual characters. Most other clicker games have very little going for them, there's not much that keeps people around other than bigger numbers (and I've been perusing them for a few years now because I don't have nearly as much time to game any more and they can be interesting in certain ways). The number of actual clicker games with something of substance is countable on one hand, and this is one of them due to the characters. That's really all this game has different from others of the same type, and to be honest, if you start messing that up, then you've lost what makes it unique and now it's just back to being something shallow like Sakura Clicker (including the incoming nudity patch, which pushes it even closer to just being boobs and numbers). Characters here need to be something, they need to matter and be well thought out and actually be interesting, likeable, and somewhat relatable (Bearverly is a different story, but that's also part of the strange charm, not going to get into that at the moment). What we have here is a character that's already been told to us is a fairy, but now is somehow going to be human for some reason, but looks like a goddess and just has a bunch of revealing outfits, but _why_? There's nothing to the character that we know of aside from the intro bits of tutorial. No story, no reason for the sudden change, no info on pretty much anything. However, every other character's design has some sort of connection to _them_ and their characteristics. Having us vote on these designs with _no knowledge_ of any of that is sort of defeating the purpose of the design element with respect to characterization. In addition, we're kind of told some restrictions that the character _can't be_ yet already go against the design of the character given in the game previously, not to mention in half of the given designs for voting. It just feels way off. If that means "stop having fun" in order to get a character right and that actually fits with the other designs and characters and level of involvement, then I guess yeah, I'm all for that. There's lots of time to get it figured out before the end of the year as stated, but it just seems the direction that's being taken here is backwards. They asked for opinions, I'm giving some, but I'm also backing them up referencing things that have already been in the game or stated =|. If the characterization is going to be based off the design, you're breaking what's already been established in-game elsewhere. If you're basing the design off of what's been established elsewhere but with a slew of added restrictions that go against the already established appearance, now you're essentially negating what already exists. It's a circular problem, which is why I said maybe it's not even a good idea to include Q-piddy as a character at all if there's all these restrictions about how she can or can't look because it makes people uncomfortable. If designs change to "fix" that, you break the character as she currently exists and it's no longer Q-piddy.

SadPandaStudios

Thanks for all your input everyone! This has been a really interesting debate to read through. We definitely have a purpose for her design and we'll make sure it's cohesive with the rest of the game. We value our characters so much, and feel that any adult content needs to be consistent with the characters themselves. There will be a story reason Q-Piddy’s form changes. Pamu and Q-Piddy aren't related by blood so their stature/build can be different. The way I see it, Pamu is more of a demon while Q-Piddy takes on the angel role. Hence I was playing up the Oh my goddess style. We're building the 18+ version so having Q-Piddy's nude scenes need to be considered, and that's why I mentioned the younger looking forms might be tough. However, I do like the idea that her transformation could be slow and possibly go from C to A so that by Lover level there's no question of her age. Q-Piddy feels like a natural conclusion/end character but we're open to debate that. Many of our fans have been asking us for her, and we owe it to them to deliver if it's something they really want and expect in the game. I'm looking at you Robin >.> You know we'll do a good job with her so she fits in the game properly and has the same life/personality that blends with the other girls. My messy sketches probably gave the wrong impression, she's not going to be dressed slutty but rather more elegant robes/silks/ribbons as though it was an Oh my goddess style. I'll post a tighter concept later on that will help visualize that exploration.

Well, at least you know lost of people like your characters, especially Q-piddy. I'm one of them. I would've probably bugged you as much as Rob, but I figure one crazed fan (hiding in the bushes stalking Q-piddy) is enough, but he's been with you since Kongregate. I never knew that existed until I played Crush Crush on Steam.

RobDeLaMorte
>>2270865

But it was also already established she can transform into a more human-size already too though. :3 Also you know I'm just teasing about the no-fun thing, right?

Quiggsy

I do like A the most, and your idea of a gradual "age-up" is nice!

Anonymous

lol i didnt see the image so i assumed a b c d is cup size (facepalm

RobDeLaMorte
>>2296571

If her cup size changes I want them to give her like massive O cups just to make all the "flat is justice" people on Steam mad. >:D

Brandon McDonald

part of me really wants to say C, just because it seems more playful, but then again the other forms look very detailed and flashy. id say it would be a shame to not have a like for all 4 ideas :)
