my least favourite Fontaines album, but if you're irish or british (gasp) it's a bit easier to get it and understand them and this album

Sage is Typing...

I still think they're really interesting! If this does well on youtube I'm for sure gonna go through their whole discography

Lotts is the Lotts pub/bar on abbey street in Dublin Ireland Lotts on the corner because it’s on the corner off abbey street it’s a pretty bad inner city area lots of drug addicts particularly heroin and crack cocaine and homelessness I think he’s referring to that because Lotts on the corner she ain’t ever coming down and Lotts on the corner there ain’t nothing here to see probably referring to the area and the issues as a Dubliner myself my best guess it’s a very bad area drugs violence crime homelessness which is very common with the cost of living a housing crisis Dublin and Ireland is a very overlooked place people just think of it as Guinness, pubs, countryside ,green land warm people singing dancing historical sights and it’s just a small country and all but it’s issues outweigh all that the drinking culture is very bad since your 14 basically your drinking vodka whiskey anything you can get your hands on in sketchy places parks and fields abandoned areas etc because you think it’s cool and by the time your 18 (drinking age ) your in a bar drinking to drink not for fun and by the time your 21 when America is just getting started your an alcoholic with a mild drug addiction(cocaine ) the government is terrible everything is expensive young people move away for cheaper cost of living because houses are too expensive and everyday essentials one of the most expensive European countries we got hung out to dry by our government the country is fucked in Dublin City there is more hotels than apartments and houses being built the and also the fight with England and the struggle for independence a long fight between Ireland and England but we got are independence in 1922 but the troubles in Northern Ireland which lasted from the 60s to the late 90s a battle between nationalists (catholics)who want a united ireland and unionists (Protestants )who want to stay part of Great Britain but England control 6 of the 32 counties (states)of Ireland which are in northern Ireland and boys in the better land which is inspired by a taxi driver they had a real common hardworking man’s job in Ireland knowing for their strong opinions and his reaction and opinion to them being a rock band and his opinion of Ireland and his personal views in general with the he spits out brits out only smokes carrols (Irish cigarette brand ) the band talk about all that in there lyrics and they use a lot of Irish sayings that’s why you don’t understand some of it which is understandable and it’s weird because as an Irish person a lot of music is in a perspective of American or English daily life there a good band they get better each album you should keep on them and the liberty belle is the name of another Dublin pub/bar

Wait that’s really interesting I didn’t even know that’s where they were from! I also had no idea how young people started drinking there

lewis is your patron

the name of the album dogrel, refers to a type of working class poetry, that was often considered less sophisticated, and a little rough-hewn. the band is tryna replicate that sound with these songs, which of course isn’t near as accessible as their two most recent albums, but they’re committed to the bit, and they do what they set out to achieve. i love this album personally, but i can obviously understand that it won’t be to everyone’s taste. don’t give up on fontaines though, they have some music that you’d love bro.

These songs are growing on me a bunch tbh. I'm definitely going to listen to more of them
