My fav era would be Sgt peppers and magical mystery tour. Sgt peppers is Probaly my favourite album of all time.

The Beatles are mostly Rock and Roll and Pop and they eventually dip into that psychedelic pop/rock

Yes in regards to the timeline in what you are hearing currently it was the beginning of prime Beatles. Beatlemania in Europe and the UK started in mid to late 1963 but when they came to America on February 7th, 1964 and performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in front of 74 million people. That's when it really kicked off. Since then they are the biggest band ever. Also in regards to things to look forward to I'd say every album you'll hear improvements but yea HELP, Rubber Soul and Revolver is where it heats UP. You just gotta remind yourself what music sounded like in the early to mid 1960s. They pushed the envelope in many regards not only musically but also musical innovations. The Beatles themselves ya know John, Paul, George and Ringo but also people like George Martin their producer and other studio techs. The lore is insane, they are the most documented band of all time there are countless documentaries. I think at the end it'd be cool to watch them with ya and react. The Anthology series is cool. The Get Back documentary is my favorite. Basically a fly on the wall, you get to watch them in the studio make the album Let It Be in 1969 and at the end they do the famous Rooftop concert. Beatles '64 is also a decent documentary. The Beatles are always there, like you hear about them growing up and you occasionally hear a song but once you dive in its over. I fell in love with this band about 5 years ago and it changed my life.

Beatlemania in Britain started with Please Please Me. In America, it started with I Want to Hold Your Hand, which was the single issued before With the Beatles. This album was the soundtrack to their first movie, which was based on Beatlemania. You have to realize this was right after the first wave of rock and roll, and no one had ever sounded like them before, though many did after. This music was already a revolutionary sound for the time, though it's hard to hear that now given how much music has progressed since 1964. Ironically, that progression was largely spurred on by the Beatles themselves. Rock music sounded very different in 1970 than it did in 1960, and the Beatles are the main reason for that. There's a Wikipedia article on their cultural impact. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_impact_of_the_Beatles. Reading that may give you some context that will make you more excited about what's coming up.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! LETS PRAY TO OUR LORD PASTOR NOEL GALLAGHER.

That’s so insane! yeah it’s really hard to imagine a world without this sound

Sage is Typing...

I’m excited to get into the documentaries for sure, we’re definitely doing the anthology series as well!

Once you get to Help, you don’t have to use mono anymore. That album is much better in stereo. and all of the albums After Rubber Soul have new mixes. except for Magical Mystery Tour, so make sure to listen to those and not the 2009 Remasters.

Sam

Little guide for the later albums.. listen to the 2018 mix for the white album. 2017 mix for Sgt peppers. 2022 mix for revolver. All in all just make your not listening to the 2009 remixes of albums lol they are long outdated.

jerrun holt

And i love her was covered by kurt cobain of nirvana u may have heard it there

Gerard McCartan

Got into your reactions via Oasis on youtube and im so glad because i love your honesty. Joining your patreon has exposed me to many other bands that I had never bothered listening to. Happy Christmas to you and your family from Ireland. The Beatles are special. The progression of 2 albums a year from 1963-70 is not normal. Help! is full of goated songs like Yesterday Ticket To Ride and Its Only Love again for their movie. This album was for a movie too. You should only react to the latest Beatles mixes. The 2009 stereo ones drive most people nuts with the daft panning! Peace mate!!!!

Happy holidays!! Thanks so much for the comment man I love hearing stuff like that! I’m glad you’ve been able to find some new music with me. I’ve always wanted this to be a place for people to discover music as well so that’s so sick to hear!

Beatles 64 is a great one if you're interested in Beatlemania. It's on Disney+.

JaydenWhitlen

I feel like that "hive mind" sound wouldn't have been as bad if you listened to this in stereo, because the hard panning seperated the voices to be clearer and not all muddled up in the center. This is one of the earlier albums that's actually better in stereo.

Patti Crichton

are YOU SERIOUS. OMG, I can't help but think that he RUINED that BEAUTIFUL song IF "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is any indication of what he would do to a cover. I could NEVER UNDERSTAND a SINGLE WORD in that song. I STILL don't know what he is saying. WHY on EARTH would he cover "AND I LOVE HER"?

Wy

your reaction to tell me why had me dying bruh hahaha

Patti Crichton

**SAGE*** MY FAVORITE ERA is STILL the EARLY/mid BEATLES from their FIRST album through "HELP!" and "RUBBER SOUL". Don't get me wrong, I LOVE their later albums too, but the EARLY/MID period has SO MANY FUN MEMORIES FOR ME, that music just resonate me, brings back so many FUN memories of that period. Those albums are fun to sing along with, dance to, ALWAYS makes me happy, cheers me up when I am down or sad. It's the music that made me fall MADLY in LOVE with them and their music. Those are the albums I still play more often. Now, to get to WHO is singing on each song, to help you: John and Paul sing "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. PAUL sings on his own during the "when I'm home, everything seems to be right....when I 'm home feeling you holding me tight, yeah" YES, that is JOHN singing lead on "I SHOUD HAVE KNOWN BETTER." JOHN and PAUL sing "IF I FELL" which had US GIRLS SWOONING!!! WE LOVED IT!! "I'M HAPPY JUST TO DANCE WITH YOU" was written by GEORGE and he sings LEAD with PAUL and JOHN doing the backup singing. PAUL wrote and sings "AND I LOVE HER" another song that made us girls SWOON, especially WATCHING PAUL sing it in their 1st MOVIE, "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT." *** WHY did you seem to have a problem with George's BEAUTIFUL guitar solo on a Spanish guitar, during "AND I LOVE HER"? You laughed and said "didn't you REHEARSE this?" George played it perfectly, you can SEE it in THEIR MOVIE. *** JOHN, with PAUL AND GEORGE sing "TELL ME WHY" I don't understand WHY you have such a problem with it, and it SEEMS you don't like "FALSETTO" singing. LOL It's one of my favs TOO, It's a good rocking little song and because the memory of SEEING them sing it IN the movie! PAUL mostly wrote CAN'T BUY ME LOVE" and sings lead on it. ***** ( "Rodeo Songs? RODEO SONGS" ???!!!! WHAT does THAT mean?! LOL! ) ***** NOW , ALL the songs ABOVE that you listened to are IN their 1st MOVIE "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" you will SEE them perform them, except for "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" which is played over the opening scenes of the movie, AND during the closing credits which contain large GORGEOUS black and white pictures of each of the Beatles. **** YOU SHOULD DO A REACTION TO THE MOVIE.**** It will show you more of their personalities. Also you WON'T see them perform "CAN'T BUY ME LOVE" but will HEAR it TWICE during the movie, played over 2 different "action scenes" You will ALSO see them perform 'SHE LOVES YOU" towards the end of the movie. BACK to the rest of the album and who sings each song........ JOHN sings lead on "ANY TIME AT ALL" but you will hear PAUL sing the 2nd "ANY TIME AT ALL" after John sings it. He is NOT talking about a "late night booty call" You are thinking in 2026 terms. Everything doesn't have to be about sex. Maybe she DOES NEED " a shoulder to cry on" which he offers, EVERYONE does now and again. If she's sad, he can come over and cheer her up, take her out somewhere, watch a movie, it doesn't mean she wants to have sex with him. That's what I have noticed about younger people reacting to these songs, so many of you have your minds on sex, everything must be about sex. That may be true for many songs TODAY, but not back then. Again, keep in mind these are for a pre-teen and teenage audience, who were not sleeping around as a lot of teens seem to do today. Do you honestly think that a teen boyfriend is going to come to his teen girlfriend's house who still lives with her parents and siblings, to have SEX??? NOPE, NOT going to happen. Most of us were never alone in the house, most of our mom's were stay-at-home mothers who didn't work. If we had a boy over, we were out in the living room, bedrooms were off limits, PERIOD. Siblings or Mom or DAD too were ALWAYS around. There was only ONE car to a family, and we were usually driven to where we needed to go by our parent, or we got a bus. SO, WHERE is this "booty call" going to take place? Things were stricter then. I know there were some that were fooling around somehow, but it was not the norm during the early and mid '60s for fans of the Beatles who could be as young as 5 years old through 18 during 1963 through 1966 . JOHN wrote and sings lead on "I'LL CRY INSTEAD" it's NOT a "Rodeo Song" Geez PAUL sings lead and harmonizes with himself on "THINGS WE SAID TODAY" It is one of my FAVORITE PAUL songs along with "AND I LOVE HER." They are BOTH BEAUTIFUL songs and sounded SO DIFFERENT from anything we were hearing from other groups at that time. They both could bring me to tears, even after all these years, BECAUSE both songs are so lovely. JOHN sings lead on "WHEN I GET HOME" with PAUL and GEORGE doing back up vocals. JOHN sings lead on "YOU CAN'T DO THAT" with PAUL and GEORGE doing back up vocals and harmonizing. JOHN actually plays the GUITAR SOLO, instead of GEORGE. This song is another one from the perspective of a junior high or high school boyfriend who sees his girlfriend talking to another boy. That was common with teens then, very possessive, Often changing girlfriends or boyfriends often, after a few weeks, or months. MOST would never grow into an eventual long time relationship where they would ultimately get married after they graduated. If they were "going steady" that meant they were EXCLUSIVE to each other, SO if the boy or girl got caught talking to another girl or boy, that was "taboo" and grounds to break it off. So this is likely about that kind of situation. This is NOT about grown adult relationships, though it can and still does happen with ADULTS TOO, but it is more of a serious thing and something to be worked out. But in high school, or junior high, it was common for a boy or girl to get upset if their "steady date" was seen talking to someone else of the opposite sex, especially if it was in front of other students at the school, which would cause gossip and whispering and all that other high school stuff that goes on. I don't know what it was like when YOU were in high school. but this is what it was like in the '60s when I was in high school. JOHN sings lead doubletracked, with PAUL doing the harmony on "I'LL BE BACK" this is another favorite of mine that ranks with "AND I LOVE HER," and "THINGS WE SAID TODAY" as such BEAUTIFUL SONGS. I am surprised that you don't think that "AND I LOVE HER" and "THINGS WE SAID TODAY" are ALSO "PRETTY" songs, like "I"LL BE BACK"? To me, all THREE songs are breathtaking and I just listen with my eyes closed. I can't rank any of them above the other, they are all THREE EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL. LOVED your reaction, SAGE, but I can't wrap my head around you saying "rodeo songs" No, not ever, has ANYONE in the past 62 years of listening to the Beatles, has ANYONE EVER said that about their songs! LOL !! ONE LAST THING....I think it was mentioned during your "PLEASE PLEASE ME" reaction, that the REASON the songs are SHORT is because IF you wanted your record to get RADIO PLAY, it had to be NO LONGER that 2 min 30 sec. with 3 minutes being the ultimate LIMIT. They had to save time for commercials, news, weather, traffic reports, and for the DJ. DJ's back then in the '50s and '60s on AM radio, were stars in their own right, with us fans. They were very amusing on the air and would talk about things of interest to us teens, would often do funny skits and all kinds of things. They weren't there just to put the records on the turn table. They were funny and very popular with us kids and teens. I wish I had recorded some of those DJs I listened to back in the '60s. It really changed in the '70s when FM came into the fore. ALSO, IF a song was longer than the time limit, they would either pot it down to fade it out (before the song was over) OR they would TALK OVER IT, which NONE of us LIKED!

Patti Crichton

YES THIS is the time they were being besieged by us fans (and it wasn't "WOMEN" it was preteen, kids and teen girls. Adult women were NOT doing that]) from the "PLEASE PLEASE ME" ALBUM IN THE UK in early 1963 and, IN the U.S. , after the single "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" with "I SAW HER STANDING THERE" on the flip side, was released to American radio on Dec. 26, 1963. THEN "BEATLEMANIA" instantly took off after their first live appearance on THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW on Sunday, FEB. 9, 1964. The next day in school there was such a BUZZ and everyone was talking about the Beatles. THEN 2 days later, their first U.S. concert in Washington DC at the COLISEUM on TUES FEB. 11, 1964 (the entire concert is here on YOU TUBE and is the BEST one you will see because of how EXCITED the BEATLES WERE themselves to be finally playing in America. HERE IT IS, would LOVE to see you REACT TO IT..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TarF1_OIqMg THEN they played back in NYC at CARNEGIE HALL on WED, FEB. 12, 1964. They were the FIRST ROCK BAND to EVER APPEAR on the CARNEGIE HALL stage, which was traditionally reserved for classical music, symphonies and opera. They were on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW, LIVE again the following Sunday on FEB. 16th, 1964 from MIAMI. A taped performance in the afternoon of FEB. 9th was shown on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW on FEB. 23rd, by then they had already flown back to England. They CONQUERED the USA in those 3 weeks....BEATLEMANIA WAS IN FULL SWING and was NOW ALL OVER THE WORLD, it was NOT just limited to the UK, Europe and the USA. That was from 1963 through 1966 where "BEATLEMANIA was at it's HIGHEST LEVEL. I KNOW, I lived through it and was PART of it from the time I was 16 through 19 (in '66) Keep in mind TOO that during those years, is when they were touring the world and had put TWO of their movies in 1964 and 1965 "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" and "HELP!" which packed the movie theaters with fans. "RUBBER SOUL" and ALL the albums after it, had NOTHING TO DO with STARTING "BEATLEMANIA" it was those First few albums and singles that started it.

Patti Crichton

ALSO SAGE, keep in mind, you are listening as an ADULT in a completely DIFFERNT moment of time from 62 years ago. You are NOT A KID, or a TEENAGER from 1963/1964. You are NOT a TEENAGE GIRL!!! LOL! You have NOT heard the music we had before this. The Beatles LOOKED TOTALLY DIFFERENT (their hair), TALKED DIFFERENT ( their LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND accents which was CHARMING to our ears), they were FUNNY, GOOD LOOKING (to us girls) INTELLIGENT, and DIDN'T TAKE THEMSELVES SERIOUSLY. THAT is what STOOD OUT TO US. OF COURSE It was their MUSIC that GRABBED us INSTANTLY. They were they "WHOLE PACKAGE"!
