Remember making the suggestion for this in the knebworth stream 🙏

Definitely an album I get into and listen to obsessively for a week every year but overall I feel like some songs could lose a chorus for lengths sake and also build up to something more.

LilacKodo

U putting ”If I had a gun” in b really shows how music is subjective

Dan Hartzog

Love this album. Certain songs I really wish had a Liam vocal though.

Adele Kompus

I’d stick with noel’s solo stuff for now and then check out liam later (liam’s is way more oasis-y). I think you’d really like chasing yesterday (2nd album) because it maybe feels more like noel has found his sound. And who built the moon (3rd album) is COMPLETELY different from everything else and furthest away from oasis which is why it’s so divisive. It's pretty experimental and has a lot of electronic/dance-pop stuff going on so you honestly might fuck with it

Dan Hartzog

Yeah that's easily my favorite on here.

Tashrif Alam

"Whenever he is saying words, I am not feeling it that much" 🤦This is the best love song Noel ever wrote and sang. Of course the lyrics means a lot. This is Noel baring his soul and this song in particular is more lyrics focused as it conveys love and vulnerability at the same time. If I Had A Gun is a masterpiece and that ranking B is criminal. S tier song. And the live and demo version of the song are even better because Noel's delivery goes to other realms when his voice powers through live. Please check these out when you do a stream or bonus content for the High Flying Birds material Live version from 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoxdCQ70n94 Demo version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBMXeq1a4Gs

Om a positive note, The Death of You and Me an S tier? Perfect and well deserved. Glad that I am not the only who loves the song.

Gary Cordery

I think stick to time of release order 🤷🏻

lee

with Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks Noel said he was watching a news report of soldiers coming home from the war and a woman who lost her husband said he’s gone to heaven on holiday, so he wrote this song about that and the madness of it

lee

AKA is also known as, so in writing it was ride the tiger aka what a life and he just kept the aka part in, same with aka broken arrow

John Doe

I gotta say bro, you're very spot on with your comments with production in almost every reaction. It shows you've been interested in it. The fact you got the "French music" vibe from the production and that you are 100% correct about it (Noel was inspired by a lot of European pop during that time) like yep. That was the intention. You a smart fella, not a fart smella!

John Doe

Hey huge Noel fan here, I found if i had a gun to be one of the more boring and standard ones

Tashrif Alam

If I Had a Gun is not "boring" or "standard". Its a masterpiece if anything. The lyrics are incredible.

I’d stick to release order for the solo albums, it will give you a feel for just how different Noel & Liam’s sounds were. As a result the oasis fan base became quite split around 2017/2018, and I don’t know if you’d fully feel that without going in release order.

Kiwilainen

WALL OF TEXT INCOMING, SORRY. Imo I think going in release order makes the most sense for the albums since the brothers kind of share a fanbase and that fanbase would split over time, which becomes easier to get if you listen to them in release order. I would urge you to consider checking out Beady Eye. It’s the name that the rest of Oasis, including Liam, carried on under after Noel left the band. Fair warning, most fans don’t think their albums are very good, but IMO it’s necessary context to understand the lore of the brothers. Especially if you plan to watch the documentary associated with Liams solo career listening to those albums will make it easier to understand why some things happened the way they did. Beady Eye released 2 records, one in 2011 and one in 2013. To answer some of your questions during the reaction: Liam was on the Dig Out Your Soul tour but he never attends sound-checks so he wasn’t around when Noel was recorded playing If I had a Gun in 2009. Record Machine was meant to be a single on the last Oasis album and they had a version recorded for it, but Liam decided to bail on the studio sessions without warning to go get married so it got left on the shelf. The story behind the “AKA…”: When promoting Dig Out Your Soul on radio shows in the UK Noel claimed to already have the next Oasis album written. He said that it would be a concept album based around different characters and that every song would have a title followed by “AKA… (character name)”. This supposed concept album has never been referenced again in any way since, but given that What a Life and Broken Arrow are named the way they are, it is safe to assume they are leftover tracks from that Oasis concept album that never happened. Noel agrees with you on Stop The Clocks. The song was written around the time of Standing On The Shoulder of Giants and Noel went around in interviews claiming that it was the best song he’s ever written and that it would be bigger than Wonderwall. Fans took notice of this and started hyping the song up online and Noel would frequently be questioned about when it would appear on an album. Over time Noel changed his mind and he not only didn’t think it could surpass Wonderwall, he actually didn’t really like it at all. The song was placed on this record partially to satisfy fan curiosity and partly because he lacked any other good song to end the album with. In hindsight though he has said that he thinks including it was a mistake and that he wishes he could undo it.

joseph

Id say do liam/beady eye and noel intermittently and compare along the way!

joseph

Liam holds the oasis sound more and love his music more, might be the same for you!

David Coppinger

Bit too basic for me and bit too polished, comes across a tad poppy. Broken arrow could be robby williams

Keenan716

robbie williams is trash

Keenan716

The Death of You and Me is my favorite song on that album. I'm a bit surprised by the If I Had a Gun placement tbh but thats why its called music taste and not music fact, its all opinion and I love it. Also love the videos as always bro, appreciate it.

Stephen Miotto

Personally, Liam's solo stuff is better. but a decent album from Noel

Sam Santos

i hate to tell you this, but Liam and Noel didn't reconcile until around 2023 it's rumored. followed by the reunion tour announcement in 2024, then LIVE 25 tour. It was so long with them apart, smh.

Heni V

Loved your excitement on death of you and me. Genius song. This album had some old songs recycled like record machine and stop the clocks. He experiments more on the following albums.

jerrun holt

If i had a gun being so low is nuts

jerrun holt

To me noels highs are bigger tham liams highs but liams albums as a whole are more enjoyable as imo noal had a tendency to make some really boring songs on these albums

Derek Dugan

Those two b sides are crucial.

Tashrif Alam

Liam's solo stuffs are decent but Noel is just so much better.

Tashrif Alam

Liam's solo stuffs are good but Noel's are great. Lets not pretend that Liam does not have some really subpar songs in those albums

Tashrif Alam

100%. A S tier song stuck at B 🤦‍♂️

Tashrif Alam

These 2 are otherworldly. The first 2 albums have some incredible B-sides which honestly could be A-sides. Freaky Teeth is another one from Chasing Yesterday. Cant believe thats nott a Bond song.

Freya

It's easy to link Liam and Noel’s solo careers together as most of their songs are about one another, with lots of their lyrics reading as conversations. The most obvious lyric tie to Liam from this album is ‘The death of you and me’. (Oasis) Come on baby blue The world is waiting for you (Noel) Lets run away to sea Forever we’d be free Free to spend our whole lives running From people who would be The death of you and me (Liam) All I wanna do is run away with you Sail the seven seas Live a life of ease Come on baby blue I’m here waiting here for you

connor waters

all the anticipation for noel solo for the two nationwide anthem's to be in b is quite devastating🤣

Sage is Typing...

Bett imma try my best to remember to come back to these, thanks

Sage is Typing...

all good! Thanks this though, it makes a lot of sense that the AKA thing was meant for another album concept

Sage is Typing...

Thanks for watching man! I appreciate everyone being open to disagreeing

IanisM12

Scary times after getting shut down on yt
