The Music Guy

You should def watch some videos on YouTube about Syd Barrett who was in the band for the first album he was the singer guitarist and primary songwriter and left/ technically got kicked out during the sessions for the second album. He has a crazy story

Nath08

Rough listen wheel was great though

Brandon Jordan

Atom heart mother might be worth a listen but I’ve never listened to most of their earlier albums besides this one and AHM and Meddle which I love

The Music Guy

As far as the whole mono stereo thing goes for this albm, the mono mix is the superior version and the one the band worked on. there is a big difference in them for example the organ in the intro of interstellar overdrive is completly taken out of the stereo version. In my opinion you should give the official mono mix (availble on youtube) a listen and see if it makes the songs any better for you

Dan Hartzog

Probably should have started with Meddle.

David Coppinger

You've got 4 albums to get through with an odd good track before it gets better and 7 until it gets amazing

People were doing lots of Acid at the time so this fits perfectly

David Coppinger

The only thing you've learned from this is, like Radiohead, pink floyd do whatever they want and eventually it becomes breath taking

Esnupi

They really start hitting their stride on Meddle. In between this and that there’s a lot more experimenting lmao. I’m looking at you Several Species of Animals.

It was hilarious reaction :) Pink Floyd's producer Norman Smith was the sound engineer for the early beatless albums until Rubber Soul include. When the Beatles recorded Pepper, Pink Floyd recorded in the same studio this album. Pink Floyd actually asked to participate and see the Beatles at work.

I came back to this video just to let you know that mono is usually better for 60's albums, but it has to be the mono mix to sound good; taking a stereo version and turning it mono sounds dogshit.
