In my opinion, this is the best thing any of the Beatles (including the Beatles themselves) have put out into the world. My only criticism is you could probably drop a few tracks and make it even tighter.

Great Great Video! few interesting facts: This 2020 Mix is a correction to the original Phil Spector mix where George's voice was much more behind the instruments. Id Have You Anytime and If Not for You written along with Bob Dylan. Wah Wah written after George left the Beatles when they worked on "Let it Be" - Wah Wah is referring to McCartney annoying him at the studio. same thing for Run of the Mill - "Everyone has choice When to or not to raise their voices" Guru Deva from the My Sweet Lord is referring Guru Deva from Jai Guru Deva from the Across the Universe song. Waiting for part 2 of the album!

Probably the best Beatles solo album, though Plastic Ono Band is also a contender. Notably, Bob Dylan co-wrote I'd Have You Anytime and If Not For You is a Dylan cover. You should check some Dylan albums out. Start with Freewheeling if you want to go in order (first album is good, but it's mostly folk cover).

You should check out Plastic Ono Band next if you're going to continue with the solo Beatles albums!

The 2020 mix is great but it does make Wah-Wah sound a bit more silly in its clarity, also takes away some of the aesthetic from What Is Life. The rest of the songs sound amazing though, and are frankly more timeless anyways.

All the Beatles beginning solo albums: RAM, All Things Must Pass, and Plastic Ono Band are essentially breakup albums (the Beatles breakup). They all have that overhanging theme of who am I as an individual musician and dealing with those feelings leftover from breaking up with your best friends (I don’t need no wah wah)

not all remixes are created equal. in this case, the 2020 mix takes away a lot of the boxed-in sound emblematic of producer phil spectors “wall of sound” technique. to my ears, the instruments have more room to breathe

bryan

definitely didn’t get any intentional accent on behind that locked door besides the one george was born with lol

When people recommend specific mixes, they're just trying to help by making sure you get the best experience for a first time listen, obviously if they were rude about it, that's not cool.
