The Music Guy

Glad to see you enjoyed this album. You’re gonna love the second one as it keeps the same vibes up. The third one well… that’s where it gets very interesting

Great reaction and glad you enjoyed it so much - I actually agree with you on every single ranking/placement after listening to this album 100s of times which is crazy. Their best albums are IV and Physical Graffiti IMO.

Please do all Led Zeppelin albums in a row, 1, 2, 3, 4, Houses of The Holy, etc. like you did for Beatles. All Classics.

There are plenty of bands out there with god-tier instrumentalists with a vocalist that's solid but nothing crazy. Led Zeppelin might be the definitive band that has guitar, bass, drums, *and* vocals all being god-tier.

I heard so much praise about this band growing up, but it always came from people much older than me, so I just automatically classified it as overrated boomer trash, but when I finally did a deep dive out of curiosity, I understood the hype. Definitely innovators of their time. Context is so important with these older legendary bands. Like, imagine being a straight laced Christian American kid hearing dazed and confused for the first time.

I'm not the biggest Led Zeppelin fan, but you can't deny that they are incredible musicians. There is controversy within the music (plagiarism claims) and outside of it (drug use, sexism, etc...the unfortunate rock star shenanigans common in and out of this era), but their overall influence has been positive. My favorite bands from Rush to Nirvana definitely took notes from this band. Speaking of Rush, their early material (if you encounter them later) definitely hints at Led Zeppelin. Until then, I think looking at the subsequent Led Zeppelin albums would be a neat journey (which include songs you may have heard in other media like Whole Lotta Love and Immigrant Song).
