Fleetwood Mac has one of the most complicated histories in rock. The background for this album is that every band-members personal life was a complete disaster. They were all married to each other, and cheating on each other….with each other, which led to them divorcing each other. It’s the messiest band of all time, and they were all high as kites on coke as well. The reason the album is so varied is that they had 3 members writing songs (Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham), and a lot of them were about each other. Nicks and Buckingham were longtime partners who were in the middle of a nasty breakup during the recording and Dreams and Go Your Own Way are each of their respective songs about the same situation.

You may have heard the chain from guardians of the galaxy volume 2, I think that's where a lot of people heard it first if they never actually sat down and listened to it

Andrew Kauders

For a great Silver Springs performance, definitely watch their performance of it from their 1997 show (The Dance). Absolutely insane, especially knowing the backstory of what the band was going through at the time.

"I feel like you need two guitars to play this." Apparently, the band originally wanted to hire another guitarist or two to help with the songs, but the guitarist (Lindsey Buckingham) decided to just lock tf in. Unsurprisingly, when he first left around the late 80s (he later rejoined in the mid-90s and got notoriously fired in 2018), they had to hire two guitarists just to recreate what he could do. He's just that goated.

The fact it took u till second last song on album to realise there is two different women singing on the album 😂

Fun fact about Lindsey: he exclusively plays guitar with his fingers. Even during the distorted lead sections he never uses a pick
