This album is so much better than Band on the Run.

Ram is considered like the first indie pop record. Many people have copied it (Djo’s album the crux comes to mind, the lemon twigs amongst others). Like all things must pass and johns first two solo albums (imagine is a response to this album) this is also a breakup album. The idea of escaping to the country was to really escape from the Beatles and everything happening with the breakup. John himself considered many of the songs on this album were directly about him Paul said only one is. Probably the truth is in the middle. In terms of Linda, yes Linda was there but I wouldn’t say she was doing a ton musically, no shade to her, I love her vocals I think she’s a fun singer. Is she like a main contributor to the music? Idk about that! I think Paul was just lonely going from a very integrated band he could rely on to just himself. So he kinda forced her in to being in his band. But she did help Paul to reach peak Paul! She helped him break free in to full freak Paul! Which is certainly something. Monkberry Moon Delight is PEAK! One of my favorite Paul songs ever. Right next to Arrow Through Me and Lovers that Never Were. If you want my opinion on what it’s about I think it’s a pure frustration song similar to the way helter skelter was a pure frustration song on the white album. He needed to get out all the bad shit that was going on (and it was indeed very bad just watch Paul’s doc Man on The Run that just came out) and so he sang it all out. Also I hate that genius thing about it not being true love is long cause Linda DIED. Evil thing to say for one but also they were together for nearly 30 years till she died like that’s a long ass time. Hate that!!

Great to hear your thoughts as always and lovely reaction! I love this album for how varied yet cohesive it is song to song. Linda McCartney was Paul's first wife until her death in 1997 and, after helping him through his depression when the Beatles broke up, certainly served as his primary muse for this era of his music. She wasn't initially a musician before their marraige (instead a photographer), but with encouragement from Paul, participated in nearly every record he made while alive, primarily providing vocals and helping write the songs, but she learnt keys throughout the duration of Wings and ended up a pretty competent player, so that's where you'll find her when listening to McCartney's music :> Next Paul Album Suggestion: If you want my two cents on Paul's best solo work, it'd have to be his 2005 album "Chaos And Creation In The Backyard". An older Paul (still with his full vocal ability), being the most open and honest he's ever been during a turblent time in his life. Every song is beautifuly written, composed and arranged and produced by non-other than Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. So if you want the best Beatle work in this century, that's it right there.

Wow that's so cool that she was able to get into music like that

Been waiting so long for this. Actually got patreon for this album lmao. Did not disappoint. My favorite of any ex beatle (although John’s first album is close).
