stadium arcadium will be the one. I know we say that every rhcp album but believe me bro its long but its the best produced album and is much more mellow and balanced and John is at his best

J

by the way (pun intended) all the amazing backing vox are John on this and going fwd when he's in the band

Josh

Fair review, you should react to them live at Slane castle maybe on a Wednesday stream🤞🏻, although it’s not an album many would say it’s the next step in the journey, it’s them at their peak everyone’s at a 10, and it was John doing all them backing vocals and harmonies he pretty much mirrors 90% of Anthony’s vocals on here 🌶️🔥

Bro I'm surprised you enjoyed the album as much as you did whilst dealing with all that other shit going on lol, gave it a pretty positive review compared to BSSM. The Minor Thing reaction had me dying. With RHCP you have pretty bad luck in that a lot of your takes are polar opposite to popular opinion. On every album there are beloved fan classics that you're just not feeling as well as songs most ppl consider throwaway that you really love. I think that's cool, and knowing you're not just faking your opinions for the camera is a large part of why I enjoy your reactions, but it will accidentally ragebait a lot of ppl who are kinda immature about their tastes in music. Not that that justifies people being horrible in the comments, it sucks that you had to deal with that. You play Can't Stop on guitar by strumming with your right hand like you're playing chords whilst muting every string except one at a time with your left hand. Ska is basically reggae played twice as fast. They both share the same backbeat which is the thing that makes On Mercury seem ska-like.

Around the late 90s to early 2000s the band members ended up getting clean (and still are!) from drug use. Its a big part of why this era (By The Way to Stadium Arcadium) is often considered them at their prime. Edit: I'm actually dying with your reaction to Minor Thing. Fortunately, its not as dirty as you think lol. As many will tell you, By The Way is basically a John Frusciante album ft RHCP (Flea didn't even write his bass lines which is wild). Rather than throw a fit, they basically made fun of John and...to his credit he ran along with it to make that gem of a song.

I second this! RHCP more than most groups really shines so much more live than in the studio. I could personally care less whether you listen to more studio records from them since you've already listened to the iconic 3 IMO, but that Slane Castle show is legendary.

Everyone is saying Stadium Arcadium, which of course is a great album, i feel like youd really like The Getaway

Miggie88

I believe they made AK take voice lessons cause he couldn't sing for shiet so he sounds better now

Blade Wolf

Its honestly eye-opening to see someone not get into RHCP as easily as I did. Just a solid reminder that music speaks differently to different people.

carlos

love the honest reaction. I definitely agree that reaction (maybe a stream?) for Slane Castle would be amazing. They really take these songs to another level, and watching them live is a different experience.

X-Offender

Dosed and Tear in B is crazy.

Chris

I think the way you rated the songs on here are a perfect representation of how you feel about the band overall i.e. very mixed, which is fine. If you've listened to Blood/Sugar, Californication and now this and you're mixed on them all though, they're probably wouldn't be a RHCP album you'd love. A lot of people have said Stadium Arcadium but personally I don't think the sound of that album is hugely to this one, also the fact that it's a very long double album could be off putting. Really enjoyable watch anyway, despite the disturbances lol.

Ollie

At some point please listen to their live performance at Slane Castle in 2003. The ceiling of the band is much higher than what they release from in the studio. Their energy and chemistry is phenomenal and makes Anthony's lyrics not sound as goofy imo. This is my favourite album of theirs and the only main thing I'd argue would be your ranking with Dosed but I respect where you're coming from. Keep the RHCP journey going, love the content 🙏

Luke Pettit

Completely this - hot take the getaway is the best rhcp album

Federico

For sure Slane Castle needs to happen after this! Before Stadium Arcadium. A lot of the more minimal songs fro here get way more interesting instrumentally in a live setting.

Harry p

Yeah rhcp live at slane castle surely gotta be the next reaction, some of the songs you have listened to really comes to life in a live setting

Mr Rys

if you are going to do Stadium Arcadium definitely split it into two parts, that album is long

Gund Rose

Its a much better listen from beginning to end,he can do it live tho

Sarp

Wow really surprised with some of the placements here, you gave out B's and C's to songs I thought you'd love, but fair :) I'd love it if you continued with Stadium Arcadium, really wondering your reactions to a lot of songs there. I know it's long but maybe live can work or it can be split into two parts? Cheers

SimpleGoyrilla

On Stadium Arcadium he got vocal coaching for the first time.

Conner Carpenter

Everyone is doin too much. The chili peppers are a band you listen to in the car driving. Definitely not a headphone band. Relisten while you're driving and you'll vibe way more

Conner Carpenter

minor thing not in S is crazy bro im dying. I get it though that was funny asl
