He was only really drooling in the band's early years. In the latter half of the band's history he acts a lot more normal lol, but when he's not playing guitar or doing vocals he would "feel the music" which is just some funny dance moves lol.

Also, they do have albums I think you'd enjoy, especially their 90s stuff (which the track 'Blind' is from). This album is just my favourite of all time and part of the era most people love which is why I picked it, but if you see any of their other albums in the suggestions (especially White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and The Great Annihilator), please don't throw it to the wayside or whatever because you didn't enjoy this one too much because they're much more in line with your taste. Also, Godspeed You! Black Emperor's album 'Lift Yr Skinny Fists' is in this same genre known as Post-Rock and I can see you loving that album, and it could be a better intro into the genre. If you do end up enjoying that album, maybe consider returning to this album to see if your opinions have switched. Finally, I will say that I didn't really like Swans in this era much on a first listen, but when you dive deeper into their stuff and this genre, you get used to it and might find more enjoyment.

This era of Swans is definitely more about making immersive experiences than casual listening. The repetition is a big part of all their albums from this era, and in post-rock in general. I appreciate you being honest about not enjoying it though, Even I have to be in a certain mood (and have 2 hours to spare lol) to listen to this one despite it being a favorite of mine. I’d definitely recommend White Light from the Mouth of Infinity (the album with blind). It would be a lot more up your alley.

Also, a long song I think you'd enjoy is Long Season by Fishmans. It's an album made up of one 35-minute song, and while it uses some repetition, it does it in a way that's a lot more accessible.

Gonna be honest, the person who suggested this to you was setting you up for failure LMAO The Glowing Man is my favorite Swans album, but it’s easily one of the last albums from them I would recommend to listen to first. Not only is it the third part of a “trilogy” (The Seer and To Be Kind are the previous installments in that trilogy), but it has some of the most inaccessible songs on here for new listeners. If you want a better starting point, Children of God, The Great Annihilator, and White Light are much better starting points than Glowing Man. I think another thing is that these post-rock albums prioritize the atmosphere and immersion of the instrumentals heavily, which makes it very hard to enjoy these songs casually. Not to mention, there is SO MUCH backstory and lore to the band that adds so much to this album’s experience

Probably should've done the Ween album tbh LMAOO

How my liked songs sound when I play them to other people. With all due respect.

i can only call “joseph” as a manifestation of his creativity and spirituality in tandem with each other and that is what he taps into when he desires to express himself
