Blade Wolf

While Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here introduced Pink Floyd to the masses, Animals and The Wall are what hardcore fans consider as the peak of the band. Animals deals with themes from George Orwell's Animal Farm (thus the political themes) while The Wall is basically the pioneer of concept albums (i.e. Green Day's American Idiot, MCR's The Black Parade, etc).

pls the wall next, cheers sage bromeo

ive always read pings on the wing as a football reference by roger and that the watching for pigs on the wing line is to look behind your shoulder at the pig's moving behind your back

I regularly go past the Battersea Power Station and over the past few years they’ve shown Pink Floyd movies about Syd Barrett and the live performance at Pompeii (which you must watch). In 2016 Roger Waters used imagery of the White House during Pigs with some pretty savage Trump criticism

Wizardguy

“I doubt they’re going for some fuck the police type shit” wild foreshadowing

I think the quality difference from pigs on the wing 1 - 2 is a thematic change based on what happens at the end of sheep since sheep bleeds into the final track, one of the last lines of sheep is “the dogs are dead you better do as your told get out of the road if you wanna grow old” which seems to be a pig telling the sheep to stop revolting (this is after the “we shall rise up” line) because the dogs are dead (the ones that betray the working class for their personal gain) the pigs think this will appease the sheep that are rising up and though the lyrics don’t confirm, the instrumental in the final part is extremely triumphant feeling , so I assume the sheep have ignored the fear mongering and broken out of their oppression from under the pigs, and if these same sheep lived under the system the first track was setting up (a land of apathy and distrust hence the low quality and darker sound) the final track is a successful revolution (birds chirping and now the singer KNOWS that he and everyone cares for each other because they came together against their oppressors) you KNOW that I care vs IF I DIDNT care … loved your reaction and insights also that coffee does look banging and I will look up that shop

Ahhh that's cool actually I wanna try and look deeper into the story of this one

Before you listen to The Wall, I recommend you read about the backstory about because it’s another concept album, and know what it’s about will make the listening experience a lot better. There is also a movie based on The Wall.

Pigs (three different ones) was the song that got me into pink Floyd, would be one of the best songs to see live

I think a pig on the wing could be like a miracle – if a pig is thought to be a lowly animal; it's where the high and low come together.
