Hi!!

Today I have a few sketchbook spreads to share!

Recently I've been practicing drawing flowers.

One flower in particular… a peony!

Peonies are May’s theme!!

Oh my, these flowers are beautiful and quite intimidating to draw. I still need more practice (so get ready to see more peony sketches and illustrations soon!!) but I’m getting better at it!

I think my new sketchbook with white paper MIGHT unlocked something within me! (creatively) but that’s another topic.

Now, let’s take a look at my recent sketches!

First spread. I wasn’t feeling very confident while drawing these.

Using blue pencil first helped A LOT.

Who said I can’t make an initial sketch for a pencil sketch?!

The best part of the blue sketch is that sometimes I can just ignore it and draw things differently :D

I’m getting more comfortable!

This one was quite loosely based on a picture I took a while ago.

If you’ve been wondering – yes, I take pictures of each flower I ever receive.

Who knows when or if I’ll draw it in the future! Here I used only a flower (not leaves)as a reference.

Buttercups sneaked in!

I saw so many of them blooming in the local park that I just couldn’t resist sketching them.

When I was on the phone I started mindlessly coloring these with my rainbow pencil (the pencil I introduced in the previous post :D).

This messy effect looks kinda nice?!

And the peony again!

This time I felt much more confident with my skills and I hope it shows.

The spread from this morning. Just practicing.

I don’t really like how the bud turned out but it’s ok, I’ll try drawing one again tomorrow!

and the page from my other sketchbook! a mix of forget-me-nots, buttercups, peonies and dandelion doodles.

PS. April’s digital rewards are coming this week!! I’ll share phone wallpapers tomorrow. I really didn’t wanted to post before catching up on these first BUT I realize I’d end up not posting for about 1/3 of the month, sooo what’s the point?

PS 2. I hope you’re as excited about this theme as I am!

Oh, I can’t wait to explore this theme further and create rewards and posts for you!

Love,

Marta

ohmygoodnesssss, the way you draw the same subject again and again to get a firm grasp on it astounds me! Very inspiring! Those pencil sketches are so beautiful 😭

Your sketches are so beautiful and yes, they show the beauties the way they are. Thank you so much.

And - not to forget, you are spoiling us with the different drawings. There is always so much to see. That’s that generous.

omg, thank you so much!! ♥♥♥ Honestly, I just LOVE drawing the same thing multiple times and I'm so grateful I get to do that! ♥ I'm going to sketch peonies everyday for a few more days (before commiting to any final illustration)! :>

muiri

oh, I'm so happy to hear you like them!! ♥

muiri

thank you so much Martina!♥ It's my pleasure!!

These are really nice sketches! There is just something different about them. I'm excited for this month's theme!

muiri

ahh, thank you Bea!! ♥ I agree – there is something different about them. Maybe it’s the blue pencil underneath the black one, these sketches are not as neat as my “regular” ones, I also sketch much more freely and almost mindlessly. Maybe it’s the pencil shades I don’t usually add to sketches. Or maybe it’s just the feeling – I’ve been feeling much better in the past few weeks than I was for months! Anyway, yayyy! I’m glad to hear you’re excited for this theme. I’m ready to draw dozens more peonies in these next +/- two weeks! :>
