Hi!!!

Today I have something very special for you! Quite chaotic, very raw and spontaneous video!

Have you ever wondered how would it feel like hanging out with the unfiltered version of me? Probably not :D but if you did, you will enjoy today’s video!

In this video I showed you some of the recent pages of my pencil sketchbook and a few pages from my SECRET messy sketchbook! Then I made a warm up sketch and a simple illustration, using color combination I haven’t tried before!

Time stamps (approximately)

00:00 - 05:37 glimpse into my sketchbooks

06:30 – 20:06 real time sketching process

20:06 – 45:00 full drawing process

In this video you get totally unfiltered version of me. Literally.

It’s me stumbling on my words, mispronouncing some of them, losing the track of my thoughts - the less “put together”, a bit chaotic version of me.

I also don’t have any make up on this video and have an allergic rash on one hand (which I’d usually try to hide!) and it’s just... everyday version of me. :D

I wanted to record a video and don’t think about the outcome.

Of course it would be much better if I’d record a voiceover or maybe prepare a script beforehand.

I knew it’d take me another week or so to “properly” edit a nice video with an eloquent voiceover, so I’d rather share this one today.

If filler words like “like, so, yeah, maybe” are driving you crazy, consider watching this video on mute cause unfortunately I use them embarrassingly often, lol.

Well, I want to improve and the only way to do that is practice. So please bear with me as I learn!

PS. Very urgent personal/family matter came up earlier this month, thus the silence. I had to take a step back from everything for a while.

PS2. I haven’t sent April’s mail yet – going to do that this week!!

March’s mail was also shipped late but it should arrived already/will arrive soon!

My dearest apologies for the delay – everything will get back to normal (including shipping schedule) soon!

Oh, sharing this video is very vulnerable but I really hope you are going to like it!

I’m DYING to hear your feedback!

Love,

Marta

thank you so much Oksana! ♥ oh, it’s a tough question! Since I’m 100% self-taught I “just” learned everything by practicing a lot. I think it’s important to understand the structure of the subject (like for example a flower) and being able to draw it using basic shapes (ellipses, triangles etc) or even boxes. In my opinion, once you understand the basic, you can stylize the subject however you want. Some people claim you’d need to learn how to draw realistically first but I don’t think it’s necessarily true. Also, I avoid drawing any straight lines and often draw quite quickly, so the lines look more organic (at least I hope they do :D) I could record more of sketching videos and maybe explain the process a bit better then! I hope my answer was helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Great video, I really like seeing the unedited sketching and drawing process! I find it very inspiring when artists share their full process like this

Thank you! I’m happy to hear that ♥ Should I record kind of a “sketch with me” video? Would that be interesting for you? It could be just sketching process from the blank page to finish :> or maybe sketching some suggestions or one chosen theme, hmm!
