Hi!
You know what is wild? I kept thinking about making this post for SO LONG and didn’t even realize we’re almost in the second half of May already. How did it happen?!
This month is the first time ever when I haven’t provide all of the documents for my accountant on time. Even in my darkest day I was paying extra attention to such things/deadlines but this May it just… came by unnoticed?!It was my wake up call! My point is, it went too far.
While taking my life back is doing great (yayyy) I want to pay more attention to time management!
With that being said, I’ll be posting twice a week.
In the first half of the week, I’ll upload one of these blog posts or some current rewards, any updates, you know, just regular posts :D
In the second half of the week I’ll be uploading delayed rewards, such as wallpapers, videos, coloring pages and I’ll keep you updated on all the shipping statuses etc!
This way I’ll be able to post consistently here and catch up on all the things without feeling super awkward for posting only old stuff or making only these sketchbook updates!
Initially I wanted to pick specific dates for these posts but I’m not sure yet which days would work best, so let’s just start here, shall we
Also, I’m not sure if posting all the previous rewards only once a week will be enough, so the schedule might change later. (not for the worse, I can promise you that :D)
I absolutely love creating these blog posts for you, sharing all of my works, creating rewards, both digital and physical!
Thank you for sticking around and trusting me!
I’m insanely grateful.
Oh, I just realized I haven’t even announced the theme for last month!!!
It was pansies and violets. Actually I called the theme “violets aren’t blue”, lol. (I mean, the flower literally called ‘blue violet’ exists and I do understand that there were times where people didn’t have the word to describe color purple/violet, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity for this terrible joke, lol)
I’ll share all the illustrations and rewards in one of the catch up series post. (yes, it’s definitely going to be a series).
Now, onto some sketches and illustrations.
Lately I got really into drawing different types of flowers.
While I really love working on one theme for the whole month I started noticing myself drawing a few flowers over and over again.
There’s nothing wrong with that of course but I wanted to change it.
As I mentioned in the previous post, I haven’t been sketching that much lately. I mean, with just the pencil. I do have a few pages to show you though, so let’s go:
All (okay, majority) of my recent sketches are just plant studies.
germander speedwell, I’ve been drawing these tiny cute flowers more often lately!
I mean, they’re gorgeous!
Some fun vases and flowers.
I don’t even remember when I made these sketches but I had great time doing this.
Right now I’m working on a series of small illustrations inspired by these sketches!
Marsh marigolds. I haven’t drawn these flowers in a while!
and close ups:
aaand European centaury.
Honestly I wasn’t really enjoying drawing it.
Which might explain so much empty space on this page, lol.
I felt a bit stuck in my art practice so I asked my followers on IG to suggest some flowers to draw.
Two sketchbook spreads were made based on their suggestions.
All of these illustrations are quite simple and quick.
It was a great practice, mostly to just draw a flower without spending hours on studying it and/or overthinking.
Actually I thought I’d be fun to present plant names this way (instead of just listing them)
second spread:
I'd love to hear your feedback on this!
Should I also add scientific names of the plants?!
Marsh marigolds again, just some simple illustrations I made when I wasn’t sure which flower to pick for April’s theme.
and again!
I love the style of the illustration on the left. Might make more of them in the future!!
Recent work in progress. Inspired by the sketches I just shared.
I got a bit stuck deciding on colors of the vases. I want to make them look cohesive but I don’t know how to achieve this look here, sooo… I’ll get back to it in a few days. Any suggestions?!
and some more inspiration behind these illustrations!
(oh my, I need to finally figure out the best size/ratio for pictures here. I feel like mine are all over the place!)
Last one for today!
One of my favorite ‘random’ sketchbook spread: meadow flowers/wild flowers I saw recently!
What flowers are these, you might ask. I've got you covered hehe!
Next post is going to be a ‘catch up post’.
Sorry for the radio silence!
See you in a few days!
Love,
Marta
