sketchbook ep 37✏️ | June’s theme announcement🫐🍓🍃 | colorful drawings + illustrations in progress✨ (Patreon)

Hi!

I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Today I’ll announce this month’s theme and share some of the new illustrations with you.

I haven’t drawn as much as I normally would this week – my thoughts are just CONSUMED with my upcoming book (the deadlines are coming!)

Most of the time I feel exhausted, like too exhausted to draw anything not book related, but when I get to do that I wonder why I hesitated so long! Which is a good sign I guess.

The weekly updates are just an extra dose of motivation for me!

With that being said, let’s first talk about June’s theme.

It’s colorful fruits!! I don’t know yet if it’s a final name for this theme.

At first I wanted to name it ‘colorful berries’ or ‘summer berries 2’ since last June’s theme was ‘summer berries’ (it featured red and black currants and gooseberries)

Strawberries aren’t technically berries though (they’re literally called strawBERRIES, hello!) so I don’t know about that name yet!

Anyway! This is not even that important, right?!

The most important thing about this theme are summer vibes, vivid colors and of course fruits! Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and wild strawberries.

I already made, or at least started, some of the illustrations and I’m about to show you them!

If you’re following me on IG (are you? I often wonder about that) you probably already saw this one!

Some of these illustrations are going to be part of this month’s sticker sheet.

I started this page just as a silly little warm up exercise, cause honestly I didn’t really feel confident (yet) with using darker colors in my illustrations.

It turned out so good, probably better than the page I was warming up to would! Lol

The other page of this sketchbook spread would be also colorful and fun!! I want to make some washi tape style illustrations!

I might play with the width and the length of the designs.

The first one is done! What do you think?!

It could be a nice addition to the bonus sticker sheet!

More sticker designs in progress! This time a bit more complex designs. I’m also trying different green tones. Some of them look really juicyyyyy!

Very slow progress on this sketchbook spread that inspired this month’s theme!

I love drawing blueberries and strawberries but both of these fruits already were themes on Patreon and I really want to keep the themes unique.

So I figured I can combine both themes and add more fruits.

I have zero experience with drawing blackberries, so this theme is a combination of fruits I’m very familiar with (drawing wise) and fruits I’m still learning how to draw. Yayy!

Seems like this entire post is about sticker designs in progress! Here’s another page!

The more the merrier!

I’m looking forward to designing a print! It might not be that easy to create an interesting composition out of these fruits, but I’m up for the challenge!

(just some desk pic from today)

Oh, and some new postage stamp illustrations!

Earlier this week I shared the drawing process of blueberries by the way.

This week’s update was monothematic but I hope you enjoyed it regardless!

Love,

Marta
