Hi friends!!!

Oh, how many exclamation marks is too many? There might be no such thing, especially today, since it’s one of my first Patreon exclusive post here! So again, hi, hello, welcome! I’m so happy you’re here. Brb doing a happy dance. No, I’m kidding - let’s just jump straight into the topic, which is color palettes.

I use markers to color big areas in my works and while it’s kiiind of possible to mix colors, I still just rely on markers as they are and the amount of colors is limited.

I like to test colors beforehand, especially since they look differently depends on the type of paper.

This is kind of embarrassing but I’ll tell you anyway – I made these color swatches only a few hours, MAYBE a day after I finished these illustrations and while editing the drawing process video I noticed I made mistakes in my notes. Like, I was almost sure that I used one color, not another, maybe because I was planning to do so? I don’t know! For example I’ve forgotten that I’ve used the blood orange red pencil in one or two illustrations (see? I’m still not quite sure about that, even though I wrote it down a few times at this point!) so yeah, taking notes is important!

Today I’m sharing my notes with you!

Usually they’re not that pretty but I wanted to make things extra nice for you!

I made some .jpg files sharing color palettes for each mini illustration but I’m also going to list all these colors here in this post, in case you need to copy and paste these information somewhere.

*if you'd like to download these files, please let me know. I'll attach them to this post if you'd like. I  figured it might be too much just for color palettes, but honestly, I just don't know.

Also, here are other tools I’ve used:

sketchbook: Royal Art Talens sketchbook 14 cm x 21 cm

brush: Renesans paint brush size 0

paint: W&N Designers gouache paint, zinc white

other tools: Derwent pencil extender

If you have any questions about colors or my art supplies, please feel free to ask!

In the future I could share my color palettes for each illustration but in more casual way, just by listing color names/code alongside the illustration itself.

Or maybe I can share my favorite combos of particular colors, like green for example??

Please let me know if you’re even interested in such things and if this list of colors is helpful for you in some way! I’m ā€œall or nothingā€ kind of person, which is both blessing and a curse, so right now I’m in ā€œI wanna tell you everything at onceā€ mode. I swear I’m going to get better at sharing my thoughts and knowledge in more organized way. Let’s just hope so, okay?

I know, right?! I may overdone it a little bit but just got very excited about this topic, lol! :D I think in the next post I'll show how I usually take notes of my color palettes. These notes are quite detailed but not THAT MUCH :D Which medium did you use in this sketchbook? From what I've learned it doesn't handle a lot of water well but works just fine for markers and paint with just a little bit of water šŸ‘€

First of all, congratulations for your Patreon and all of the posts you've published . They're all super helpful and interesting! I'd love to see your favourite combos as well as favourite tones from markers/pencils. I'm now starting to see more patterns un your colour choosing and I can clearly see your art style peeking through. I'd also like to know which sharpener you use for your colour pencils since they always look so sharp and nice ā˜ŗļøā¤ļø

Awww, thank you so much!!! ā™” I’m happy to hear you enjoy the content so far! Haha, I think you can already tell which tones of markers are my favorite :D I keep using lime green and bright pink in almost every illustration! But of course, I can make a post about it! Honestly, I just use a cheap sharpener I bought in a grocery store. Over the years I had sharpeners from different brands but I don’t really see any difference between a fancy ones from art store and the one I use now! I don’t put a lot of pressure on paper while drawing and I sharpen my pencils often. They’re quite hard in general, which helps keeping them extra sharp!

Hi Patti! Welcome! You can save these files by right-clicking and saving them to your computer. I could also send you them directly via e-mail if you'd prefer that!
