Hi, hello! It’s the first post of October!

Today I want to show you a few of my recent sketches, but to be honest, I’m not feeling very creative lately. I just really want to keep up with the practice, so yeah, let’s just embrace the fact that not every sketchbook page can be a winner.

SKETCHES

Pumpkins and apples, the classic combo for Autumn!

Well, I think pumpkins are so enjoyable to draw, especially in colors! I really want to draw a colored version of the pumpkin slice (with seeds and flesh) but it seems to strange and turns my inner perfectionist into panic mode. I’ll let this idea sit in my sketchbook for a while.

(that's what happens when I use eraser in my sketchbook :D)

More pumpkins, ginkgo and apples.

I ran out of pencil while I was sketching. I forgot to buy new pencil leads (again!!) so I’d need to use the blue pencil or/and some dark colored pencils for sketches for a while!

I think apples will become this month’s theme! Maybe apples and pears. That’s just initial idea but I keep drawing them and they’re iconic fruits of Autumn (at least in my opinion) soooo, it just makes sense.

There’s lot of sadness and sorrow going on in me right now. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned already that I’m going through grief. It might show sometimes in my sketches.

(this blue pencil and dark brown colored pencil combination actually looks interesting!)

Unfinished sketch of chrysantemum!

Oh, how I love these flowers, they look whimsical! It was my first time drawing one but I didn’t have enough energy to finish it today.

NEW ILLUSTRATION

I made a spontaneous pumpkin/winter squash themed sketchbook spread. I’m not very happy with how some of these turned out but oh well, I just wanted to test colors!

Orange is quite challenging color to work with. Most orange markers are very vibrant and saturated and it’s easy to accidentally draw a pumpkin that look more like a tomato, lol. Some further color tests are needed but generally speaking I think these look nice!

NEW MARKERS

I got myself a few new markers! I shared this today on my IG stories but decided to share it here too!

The pear green one is one of my favorites amongst all greens I’ve ever used!

It’s my 3rd or 4th marker (too bad Promarkers aren’t refillable!). I’ve never tried these remaining colors tho! Pear green, herb green and pesto seem like a nice color combination but we’ll see!

I was really hoping to get a soft yellow marker but this ā€œpastel yellowā€ looks more like vanilla. Is it just me or it’s not even yellow color?!

Hope you enjoyed this!

I want to keep creating and keep sharing what I do even now, when I feel like I’m not at my best. Maybe especially now.

PS. I’m working on a bonus printable (coloring page)! It’ll be up very soon, probably tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your kind words Kat! Oh, I know, loss and death are just part of life and we need to face them at some point in our lives. I just wanted to mention what I'm going through in this safe community but I don’t wanna make it a ā€œbig dealā€, that’s why I act ā€œnormalā€ on social media. Doesn’t this chrysanthemum look a bit stiff?! I think it might does, so I didn’t bother finishing it, hehe. You’re right, making this kind of work really allows me to just zone out and don’t think too much about other things for a while. Oh no! That’s too bad you don’t like orange! It’s such a happy color :D Omg, yesss, this marker looks pink! or orange! or beige. I’m not sure at this point. I have some questions for a person who was responsible for naming this color ā€œpastel YELLOWā€ :D
