As a Canadian, I need America to go for a good Medicare for all. It's the only way I can see to convince people here to get a better system. We are so hyped on being better than America, that we never improve unless America does it first.

“Rehabs” need to be overhauled. John Oliver did a great segment on them. But not all are created equal. And if the underlying problem is mental illness, there needs to be a focus on that. War on drugs is stupid. But the way we treat addiction in this country is just all around stupid.

I just try to imagine the sort of person who might be undecided all the way to this point and which side might have actually swayed any of *those* to their side. Honestly whoever said "the just don't care" probably had the right of it.

I personally hate the idea of drug courts. Even that is criminalizing drugs and policing them in uncomfortable ways. A better idea is to have safe supply, and safe use sites. Through those areas you can make addiction services available, but not mandatory. We would also need far better mental health services before rehab would work more effectively, we would also need to accept that under our current society, and most any society, some people will need a chemical buffer to deal
