Politically speaking, isn't it fair to say that a duopoly is actually more pernicious to a society than a monopoly? Because the illusion of choice both allows the existing system to perpetuate AND lets people think that they are "doing something" by voting out the "less bad" candidate, when in reality, the collusion between the two parties insures that those with vested interests in maintaining the status quo will win regardless of the outcome.
