Hi. On today’s episode of #EvenMoreNews, we are going to try and answer some Qs on the podcast today as well as listener thoughts on the, you know, insurrection. So drop them below.

Since I've been hearing more and more discussion about the possiblity, I find myself struggling to wrap my head around the idea of a post-term impeachment conviction. Do you guys know what that would look like, and what it would mean if he was convicted by the Senate after January 20th? Clearly, it wouldn't mean that he is removed from office, since he wouldn't be in office anymore.

Is it reasonable for the justice department to lable all the people who took part in the Capitol riot as domestic terrorist? I believe it is. As such, what is an appropriate punishment for them? Should these people all face jail time? Or is it enough to have them live with the lable and all it entails. No fly list, not being allowed to vote, and having their guns taken away?

Assuming Biden doesn't care enough to act on this, how should the public respond if the emboldened white supremacists don't crawl back into their dank tunnels indefinitely? I feel as though the lack of passivity from the right-wing has dissolved their privileges to not be punched square in their glass jaws and chalk noses, but maybe I'm just cynical as hell.

How do we stop left-leaning people from skipping merrily down the path of supporting a police state? I'm seeing some of the same people who were on board with ACAB in the summer now calling for aggressive, militaristic police response.

I'd like to address a sort of dangerous path people have been taking, wanting to punish the ENTIRE crowd of people who entered the capitol. I don't think it's a good idea for a couple reasons: First, whatever book gets thrown at these people is going to come back ten times harder at any leftist protest who even BREATHES at the capitol. We all know it. Second, the nazis and armed insurgents who were clearly planning to take hostages and shed blood aside, a large majority of these people were clearly swept up in the moment, and entered the building because they thought it was safe. They are victims of a long, complex disinformation apparatus that's taken place over the last 4 years, orchestrated by capitalist-class ghouls. Punishing working class people for the actions of the rich, yet again isn't going to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future. Throw the book at the fascist browncoats who were clearly, actively planning to do a coup, but don't punish the rando boomers out of a frustration that comes from not being able to hold the motherfuckers who enabled this accountable.

It feels like our generation (and eventually the ones after) is trying to get out of the mentality of "I post, therefore I am," where everything we do has to be documented in some way to prove our worth. But it also feels like if we ignore social media, even when it feels like pointless debating in comments, the more the radical elements are allowed to foster. While I'm glad to see these companies finally deplatforming fascists, I'm worried about the precedent it sets for silencing leftist speech in the future. What are your thoughts on a housing guarantee of sorts on the internet? Where everyone has a right to a web domain/IP address through a public service. I don't think its critical compared to, say, an actual housing guarantee, but internet access for all seems a popular progressive sentiment. Without some protected, sharable space for everyone its all too easy for corporate/institutional powers to deplatform anything else that may cost them money, like union websites. Currently you need to fall within the good graces of an ISP to get an address, a registrar to get a domain, and possibly a hosting service if you don't have the equipment/expertise to set up a website.

Do you think that bad actors on the right are currently engaging in a narrative that is attempting to normalize the idea of a "conservative genocide" in order to make the less radical members on the right to become radicalized? How can we combat such a self-sacrificing crab group? Make them sacrifice so much so as to become weaker for doing so? Wouldn't that also be a not good thing to do? My parents are part of this death cult and I would like it if they weren't sacificial puppets to a mad king.

Julius Caesar took over the republic to avoid legal prosecution. Trump isn't competant enough to take over the country, however, if he is legally prosecuted, the next person in his position might be competant enough to successfully execute a coup. There is guaranteed to be a new person that takes over Trumps potion on the far right. They are likely to be more competant. Why give them the motivation to take over to avoid legal prosecution?

I don't think that the failed insurrection is the end of it. It's like with every other terrible thing they do, they are relentless with trying to ruin it for everyone as long as money keeps flowing up. People need to face justice and consequences for their actions if we have any hope of fighting this. Anyway, how do you feel about only focusing on the good things and ignoring all the bad things that make us sad and angry? I think I remember a show like that that sold out for a lot money last year in the dark before times. I was really counting on that show to shame me for thinking about bad things that are actually happening so that I can cut myself off from reality and live in a happy little bubble... oh well.
