I cringed at hearing Shapiro trying to pronounce Penobscot.

Steve Snyder

Oh thank god, I needed something besides the news this morning. Tyvm smn

Cody, eat the casserole. Katy just wants to make sure you have enough energy to get through the news cycle.

Lustful_Octopus

Man, if we spent all the energy used to deny wrongdoing to indigenous peoples, and just helped them like they ask, we'd already have a Solarpunk society. Instead, we've got Ted Cruz.

Dark Puppy

So, I'm from Massachusetts. Ya know what we didn't really get taught in school here. About all the fuckin genocide, the entire thing was a whitewashed bizarro imagination of history. At least what was Plymouth Plantation has updated their shit to be a lot more honest about the events. Also Warmbo eats batteries and spiders? And has Santas bones?

Marissa Lopez

I would like to point out that the new season of Dexter: New Blood seems to have realistic portrayals of the Seneca people, but I've not read anything discuss it yet.

Björn Lammers

Creating teethed Warmbo as we comment.

Urnow

Somehow, inanimate, full open mouth Warmbo during the not add break is even more horrifying that regular Warmbo.

ks

I'm looking forward to the strike episode.

Gretchen Hintz

It's truly worrisome how much Katy is obsessed with Cody eating random inedible things.

Mac

I'm thankful for this episode. I have a good friend who doesn't think racist sports mascots are a big deal and I had a hard time getting through to them. There's some useful info in this one that I hope will help me next time.

David

This stuff is fun for a history teacher, glad to join.

thanks for this episode, not a lot of people bringing light to the atrocities towards us. a couple of things: it does feel like “THE Native episode” where y’all put every issue in one episode that coincides with tgiving and Native heritage month. id encourage you to do an episode in, like, may or some time in which we aren’t in trauma overload from the time span of columbus day, halloween (where we have to deal with sexy-gawea costumes and headdresses), and thanksgiving. this feels like the only span where people pretend to care about us and it would be great to have more consistency throughout the year in bringing light to our issues. also please don’t say redskin. it’s a slur and it should be treated as such. you could have used that segment as a way to set a precedent for your subscribers that it’s just simply not okay to say. i know later you kind of hit that point, but replace it with any other slur and it wouldn’t be okay. just because it was forced into colloquial vernacular, that doesn’t change the fact that i had to hear that word growing up from kids in school when they’d threaten to scalp me or call me a savage. it carries weight for us, but not for anyone else. if you want an indication of how recent boarding schools are, my father — who is in his 50s /- is a boarding school survivor and dug graves for classmates. i know this is a lot, and i do truly appreciate y’all doing an episode about us, but i feel that my perspective of, you know, being a merciless, NDN savage, is a worthwhile one for anyone trying to right a myriad of wrongs. with your recent expansion, if you feel that your writing team is missing Native voices, im based in LA and an enrolled member of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate. thanks again; water is life.

Thank you so much for all the hard work that you put into these episodes. The last several episodes have made me cry like a toddler, if we don't know anything about it we can't do anything about it.. Keep up the amazing work, we desperately need this information. I used to be a high school English teacher but I was run out of the profession because of my desire to tell the truth.. I taught in a very low income community in Illinois that was 98% black, (Cairo, IL. - Check into that town for a horror story about how we treat black Americans in this country today), and if you want to see bunch of people lose their shit, try teaching black people the truth about this country and watch how fast they kick you the fuck out. I'm also a military veteran, US Air Force, and I gotta be honest guys, this is not the country that I believed it to be that led me into serving my country and community. I was even involved in local politics until the village board on which I sat turned on me after I was appointed mayor and actually tried to make some important changes and adhere to law. Turns out that's the reason there aren't more good people in politics in this country, because good people make everybody else feel bad about themselves and that's unacceptable in the USA. I turned out to be pretty ineffective in my efforts, but I'm very supportive of what you guys are doing and if there's anything I can do to help, I'm your girl. Hang in there, you're doing the right thing, and it matters. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. 😍

Correction: the last residential school in Canada closed in 1996. There are still open residential schools in the US. Redskin is a slur, saying a bunch while also saying it’s a slur doesn’t make people understand it’s not okay to say. You could have gotten by without saying it. Also, you say “culture” a lot. If the future it would be cool if you added an “s” Natives have many cultures. We are not 1 culture. We have different languages, religions, and practices. Pan indigenaity is a real problem that we face Also, also, I am Mono and it’s pronounced moe-no not mah-no. I appreciate the effort, but please hire someone Native to work with y’all.

Daniel V. Chilton

I still wanna do bong rips with Warmbo. I think would have a lot to offer on his life wisdom.

strawBarry

I'm in my 50's and I learned more about Thanksgiving in one hour from you guys than I did back in school, or in all the years since. I appreciate not just the humor, but the sheer amount of homework y'all do for each episode. #warmbo2024

This has inspired me to start donating to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe for their water protector efforts. Thank you for giving us all the intellectual ammo we need to dispel American mythologies
