Hi. Some More News writer Ella Yurman (@ElYurman) joins Katy and Cody to talk about the Supreme Court draft opinion that will soon overturn Roe v. Wade, the weird conservative reaction to it, and what it foretells about all the other rights we're about to lose. Plus, we make fun of unlovable losers Matt Gaetz and J.D. Vance.

I need Ella to understand how much I appreciated the team fortress 2 reference. (As well as am amazing job on everything else too)

I think the Anger conservatives are experiencing over Roe is another example of their entitlement. They feel like they can't celebrate openly without being shunned in some way. It's almost exactly the same as their anger over cancel culture nonsense.

In addition to pregnant people including all genders, it also includes underage people, like girls, who will also be impacted by this decision.

So.. what do we do? I’m asking earnestly. Vote local, protest, donate to what we hope are the right groups.. I, and I bet a lot of people here, have been doing all of that for years and it feels like digging a hole in the sand at high fucking tide. I’m not suggesting those actions aren’t worth it, but they’re clearly not enough, right? Does anyone know what else to do? Is there anything else? If that’s a discussion you’d all be willing to have on the show sometime, I’m here for it. I’m trying not to be crushed by the sense of powerlessness, but it’s getting hard.

Regarding Matt Gaetz's tweet, the thing that struck me was that it read like a 4chan post. I can't describe in detail what it was, but it reads exactly like something you find on /v/ at 4 AM post-Gamergate, just, creating a cartoon character of your enemies and then pretending it's a real person that you didn't make up. I don't even think it's for clout. I think it's a self-soothing technique. He believes his lies for a second, and then he can inhabit the universe where he's a glorious perfect Chad and all his enemies are pathetic worthless soyjaks and all is right with the world.

My dad brought me up on a diet of standard-issue Elders of Zion bullshit, and not knowing any better I took it on board. At the age of 17 I made my first Jewish friend and realised he was just another person, so everything I'd been taught about Jews was just one big pile of lies. That in turn led to me rejecting all the other racist bullshit my dad taught me, as well as helping me to psychologically get out from under his abusive narcissism.

The 14th Amendment IS codified Federal law. If you think its a "tenuous" argument for women's unequivocal right to safe abortions, you do not understand the Constitution.

Jeff Prillaman

Men can choose any medical procedure they want. Abortion isn't relevant since men do not get pregnant. If "nobody" can get a hysterectomy, the law banning it would only effect women. Pedantry is the stock and trade of the Evangelical Right, to be fair.

I'm non-binary and I grew up in one of those fun red states about to lose everything. Moved to fun blue NY. And I will say this: blue states are next. No matter how safe you feel right now, The neighbors are the same. The politicians are the same. The only difference between a red and blue state is how hard the average person has to work to get the same kind of rights. They come for the most vulnerable groups first, but fuck it escalates fast. And it isn't ending until it's so untenable even the people who wanted this won't recognize the end product. Because it's not about them having control: it's about everyone else having less.

The day I want the government in my body I'll fuck a senator.
